Maybe if we get the storm that everyone keeps saying is coming the flies will go for a while. The other babies probably wonder what Bertie is doing in all that water and then join in as it looks like fun:)

3rd vet visit for Belle today, this time a different vet, with a different strategy. I am hoping he can pull her around as she has been fading rapidly and her weight loss is quite scary.
She has little interest in food or being with the herd. Confined she just lays down (and gives up), so it is better for her to be out with the others and taking the odd mouthful of grass or browse..

Today, she has had an antibiotic paste via catheter into uterus and rather than the long acting antibiotic injections she is now on a daily dose and Metacam every 2-3 days.
Keep her in your thoughts, as I am not convinced she has enough fight in her to get her through this battle.

Sending prayers for Belle..and you.:inlove: This must be very difficult. Maybe try the dogs, or kitty to keep Belle company and her mind off things.

I'm so sorry to hear that Belle is not doing well. I had hoped that no news was good news, and she was getting better.
I will be thinking of her.

It's so sad to hear about Belle. Poor thing!:inlove: Having had a 'near-death experience' from an unmedicated 'posterior' birth of my 2nd child, I can understand what she is going through.:(

sanddollar15 has expressed my feelings as well, and I hope you will be able to take as good care of yourself as you do your magnificent herd!! You are their "Leader"...and 'Head Honcho'!!:)

The babies had all got the hang of what to do in the paddling pool this morning (even if that included piddling in it).
Casper got his sun visor fitted yesterday but despite having the largest antlers of the white babies he manages to dislodge it regularly.
Fly repellent isn't working beyond 20 minutes, as ever [IMG]:(.
All herd confined for a hosing -they don't like it.
I went to retrieve the lichen and apple lollipops I had made for just this weather from the large chest freezers in shed - oh joy it had broken down and a slimey mess of rotted meat and reindeer "lollipops". Must admit I closed the lid and will tackle it the day before bin day (with Vick up my nose)!

Belle, again today is eating, so I am feeling a little happier. She still has a discharge but maybe??? not as much. I am a little more hopeful than I was.
I don't want to post a photo of her on their FB page as a main picture (that's how I can easily Share here), but once a Follower asks I can bury in text and will Share with you. She is very thin but her eyes are bright now?
    Edit, Belle

Bless her, at least if she is showing an interest in food now that it is a good sign. Being out with the rest of the herd might make her feel better as well. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she is on the road to recovery.

So happy Belle is eating! That is always a good sign. Prayers continuing!

:wuerg: Too bad about the freezer; I sympathize. I had to clean mine out after the hurricane last year. Had to wait two weeks until I had water - way too long for the smell factor!

Belle update. Vet was back from his course today so I had him out to do another uterine "flush". He says her uterus feels much better. :) To continue until Sunday with daily antibiotic injections and then we will withdraw and see if her own immune system can combat anything that is left. He has warned that she may be infertile but he thinks she will pull through as she is eating well now. :)

Time to admit I was wrong about Summer coats of white babies! Never having had one before I presumed they would be white as all the pigment I could see was pink but Luna has started to moult out baby coat and she has obvious patches of grey. I have contacted another "white" owner of an adult and he says that his is also grey patches in summer - phew!

The entire boys' antlers are starting to look good and still a little growing time to go.
This is Frodo, hiding from the flies in the field shelter.

Maybe the grey undercoat is natures way of protecting their skin from the sun! Just a thought!
Wow is right Mir, those are some wonderful antlers on the boy who at one time was oh so thin (Karen got him that way for those who do not know the story);) Just look at him now!:inlove::inlove: I am hoping Belle will continue to improve and get better poor baby!
