Hi Karen, thanks for the update, those babies are too cute! I love luna and lily as they are so different! Prayers Belle will get better and stronger each month and the rut is the last thing that poor reindeer needs!;) I hope you feel better soon and watch that chest infection as it could turn to pneumonia very quickly!
Brookeham, thoughts and prayers for you and all your firefighters dealing with those terrible wildfires out there...stay safe!:inlove:

Mothers' and babies have changed paddocks today to make the most of the grass.
It is wonderful to still have nutritious grass in October.

Belle is in this video but I have taken a "still" of her for you. She is very "perky" and eating well BUT her body condition and antlers are atrocious. I am pretty sure she will make it but not look good until the Spring reindeer body clock kicks in. I have purchased a mini pony rug for her in case we have a bad Winter but that's a tricky one as she could overheat. Reindeer naturally have fabulous insulation but poor coat and lack of body condition can counteract this. Her uterine infection is still present but only a very slight discharge now, so she is a fighter. No antibiotics left to try, it's up to her BUT she is fighting well - even bosing around some of the others, so she must be feeling better... Fingers crossed.[IMG]

Thanks for the video, that grass sure is lush and green! As long as Belle remains fighting I am hopeful she will recover
but she does not look as bad as I had imagined her...that is a good thing!;)

Nice video of a peaceful pasture; thanks for taking the time to post it. :) I am glad Belle is in good spirits, that will help her toward recovery. She really is a fighter!

Well Boris is getting in the mood for Halloween.
He always seems to plan his velvet strip to coincide:)
Let's see what tomorrow brings - if it rains overnight he will look like the leading man in a horror movie if not he will delay the rest of his strip.

Life does get silly at this time of year..
Earlier in the week I was approached by a Zoo Consultant to see if I could supply reindeer to Ski Dubai in United Arab Emirates for a month... Eek with only two weeks notice, I know it would be first class all the way for them and a very cold environment to live in (air conditioned) but where could I find someone that would give up a month to ensure everything A1 and most importantly I hadn't time to ensure they could return to UK..
Tomorrow morning, I was meant to be helping with a reindeer sleigh pull on live TV but this morning we heard that they have delayed until Dec... Crazy times - never know what tomorrow brings in the run up to Christmas!

Wow that is a scary thought to have some of your babies (herd) go so far away from home, and not having time like you said to really check it all out. Too bad they didn't give you more time as I am sure the funds would have been good for your farm!
Wishing you and yours a very good and profitable season!;)

    And yesterday's panic...
Katya's "baby" Herman, that has joined another herd as a stud bull, got himself into a real pickle yesterday.
How did he get his head through? Antlers, however manipulated would not fit back through fence. Fire brigade or loose an antler??? He's one antler short by evening and feeling pretty silly. [IMG]:) It was a girl to blame, that wasn't joining him in his paddock!
Oh the joys of rutting bulls and you can guarantee it happens when you have a tight schedule! [IMG]:)

What male bulls will go to in order to have a full harem. :eek:Yikes! I hope Herman is okay with losing one of his antlers. :p

Oh wow what a pickle he got himself in! Glad to hear that he got his head back through the fence even if it meant losing an antler. Also glad that he was found before he injured himself trying to get free.
