I can't make either, i dont have the capacity (im assuming at some point you get a milking pen?)

I'm trying to buy some and/or do a trade but IDK how to trade exactly, happy to be taught otherwise if you do have some to sell LMK :)

BTW guys is it even possible to progress in this game without actually purchasing BBs? as in with your real money? I haven't yet and am on level 83 or something.. I kinda refuse to buy BBs in a free game, i think it's unfair to make it the only way to really progress. happy to hear game strategy from anyone too :)

Welcome to the game! I'm fairly certain that you should have access to making the milk pens in the shop, by your level. Next gift and trade, I'm quite sure many players will be happy to send you one of each, myself included.

It is absolutely possible to progress in this game without spending real money. It is actually easier now than when I started, ten years ago, because they give us much more in the way of mystery trees and stables, Powerfeed and other augments, than they used to. That said, it is nearly impossible to complete events unless you are using 1x1 with CAC, and that is very tedious to harvest by hand. I personally would not continue to play if I did not buy the harvester function, because it makes things more enjoyable for me. But there are many, many players who do not. Your progress will be slower, but depending on your goals, that might not be a bad thing. If you are looking to "finish" this game - you never will. They keep adding more levels, more quests, more things to achieve, which makes this a long term game rather than one you aim to "end". So if you want to "end" it, then no, you won't enjoy it. But if you like logging on twice a day, seeing what's happening, and doing events as best you can to fit your schedule, then you can absolutely progress as you go. The biggest advantage to the events is that they offer you cloud rows that give you stuff. I almost never put out animals because I get so many of them from crates from cloud rows. I mentioned that I buy harvester, but every few months, I don't need to buy for a few months because I get so many harvester coupons from crates from cloud rows. Same for SG and SSG, I have literal tons of that. Plus all manner of other goodies.

There are several excellent threads on overall game strategy, but mostly, figure out how you enjoy playing and play that way!

ps to put things in perspective of how the game has changed, when I started ten years ago, it took me over a year to reach level 100. Nowadays, you can do that in a little over a month, with all the EP that is on offer.

Regarding your cow & goat milk, once you've unlocked the animal pen with your level, you can craft the base workshop in the building with the green roof on the left side of the market. You'll need tools that drop from harvesting crops/trees/pens. There's even some Cow Milk Tree & Goat Milk Tree that can be opened with stars in the Tree of Wisdom that you can find in the Magical Glade.

The market is where you can buy and sell items: you need to pay an upfront fee of 10% to place a sell order, meaning you need to have at least some CCs already before selling. You can start by selling crops like hay, carrot, wheat, oat, etc. These are in huge demands because they're required in a lot of animal feed.

Tho the game is advertized as being free, you cannot expect to have it all handed out to you on a plate. There's a lot of people behind the creation of this game that is updated all the time. That means paying people and for that they need $$$. This isn't meant to be harsh in any way. If you feel overwhelmed with all the stuff and feel frustrated with not progressing fast enough then you should step back from the game.

-matselleste- is right: if your goal is to "end" the game as fast as possible, you won't be able to without spending real dollars. I can't imagine playing the game without buying the harvester either, too much clicking would be required. I started playing this game in August 2017, it took me 2 years to make it to level 100. I started a second farm in late February this year and I should reach level 100 this week. Even long time players are overwhelmed with all the new stuff and FSQs that ask for hundred thousands crops to finish.

If you decide that you do not want to spend a dime on this game you can either play it free at your own pace and do things slow, else you should find another game to play.

There's some players on the forum that play this game for free, they may have a different point of you on this matter.

Good luck with your progress in the game.

Tomorrow is my 2nd Farmerama birthday and this is by far my favorite farming game, and I have played many others over the past 20+ years.

I'm already at lvl 226 and while I mostly play for free, I indulge in the Season Pass, harvester and mill subscriptions, but wait til the latter two are on sale. Perhaps in my two years playing, I paid for wheel tickets and event items to get a particular reward. Mostly, I play for free - I don't buy event baskets, SG/SSG/etc. I learned to accept I won't complete all events I begin so pick and choose and don't try to do it all. It takes me time to learn the many features/areas of the game. My first several attempts to complete the monthly Season events were unsuccessful - I just didn't have the resources.

The Forum is a great resource. Long-time players like Matselleste and Nordais/Northy are very knowledgeable, as are numerous others. There is so much to learn and like about this game. I appreciate all the hard work of the Mods/Techs and all those behind the scenes. I feel players receive wonderful in-game support. I appreciate that we can play at our own pace and agree with above comments there is no 'end' to the game. I'm a retired senior and believe the game has something for all ages and types of players. I hope you find your niche and enjoy the game. Good luck as you begin your farming adventure!

You can get Milk tree now from The Art of pranking event if you can grow enough event plants and do 10 breeding of mammals or amphibians. Those trees are so much easier way to get Milk than workshops! Tree do not require any feed and cows.

Welcome to the game idkidk10 :) Best wishes as you grow your farm :) You can build basic workshops in the city but you need tools which are hard to come by when your farm is young. You can get the workshops from Gift and Trade, or even better, the trees that give those products. As already commented, there are also options on the Tree of Wisdom that requires stars.

Gift and trade is on the calendar for this month so it won't be a long wait :)

Tool drops are random, some are more rare than others. Tools are used to build workshops, some tables and upgrades for them. That is their main purpose. Tools are also needed for menagerie blueprints later in the game. You can't control how much and what to get, but there is a correlation between EP/TEP. So basically, the longer the production time, the more you get. Drops come from crop, trees, stables and workshops.

You can also gift/be gifted toolboxes, win them on the wheel, as rewards and some decorations are tool givers.

Hope you enjoy the game and having fun :inlove: I have a watering lettuce addiction, but I could easily play the game without spending a penny. Especially if I ignored the breeding quests. (power feed drain).

My goal is and have always been having as much fun as possible.

There is an event that give production trees, I don't know how doable it is right now, but if you can snag just one, it would really be a huge boost. Regardless, welcome to the game.

Completely agree with Moraine. When I first began playing, it was suggested by another long playing friend, to make clearing land/space a priority, and that tool boxes are one of the best gifts to send/receive. I followed that advice and as I opened new areas, I did my best to clear all land as soon as possible to make space for plots/critters/trees. I think it is one of the best lessons I learned. It does take time, but it's been worth it to me.

It took me a while to understand how helpful the Forum is - not only as a storehouse of knowledge, but also providing the opportunity to pose questions and learn from more experienced players. Over time we develop our style. I don't think of the game as a contest, but a relaxing pass time. All the best to you!

Today is my 2nd anniversary - sorry, I just keep repeating myself :inlove::music:

There is a cow milk tree in a one day quest/event by growing some crops on the main field, but Hurry! The day is half over!
    The numbers are (I think)
    780 goofy flowers (event crop)
    10 cows
10 breedings (=20 powerfeed) be careful - only some animal breedings give the 'teeth' you need - 10 to get to the level with the cow tree. (Level two gold)

You cannot control what you get, the tools droped by harvesting crops/pens/trees are random. There's a possibility of raising the chance of certain tools from dropping with rune in the Tree of Wisdom, refinmement crop bonuses, some cloudrows and even the crop and animal trophies.

Tools can be used to craft base workshops and their upgrades (with coloured/breeding animals), but they'll also be used to upgrade arboretums, menageries factories and museums too (buildings that help you stack up trees/pens/workshops/givers). You'll never have enough tools for a long while!

    Welcome to Farmerama.
If you send me an in-game message to remind me next time 'Trade-and-gift' is on (my in-game name is --Shimmer-- including the dashes) I'll send you a few workshops of your choice. I'm a well established player, and I have plenty of workshops I don't really need just sitting around in my inventory.
Keep an eye on the 'events' section for the trade and gift event, it comes up in the mini event thread.

I've got extra base/yellow dairys too. Send in game message to rivak during the next G&T (Dec 27-30) and I can send a couple your way too.

My oldest farm has a Pink Cow Dairy upgrade. Send an IGM to CaliChrome before G&T and it will be yours. It gives two milk instead of just the one the lower upgrades give.

Right now the wheel is giving yellow cow dairies like crazy when you spin with green tickets. Maybe you could get a couple that way to tide you over until the G&T event at the end of the month?

I thought when you won one of those you only got the yellow upgrade and not the base?

You're right, it just awards the upgrade. The base is cheap to make in the city workshop, and then you can add the free upgrade from the wheel.

New timers players don't get much cow dairy upgrades or shearing shed for the matter. My baby farm is at level 100 and there's still just base workshop being offered on the wheel with some ramdom yellow workshop upgrades. There's a few XXL trees too, not just walnut, pine & maple!
