This is event is less fun than watching paint dry.

I got up at 2:30 a.m. and harvested every field I could. This was probably a mistake. I was awake (oh my, I'm rhyming, sorry David). Then I couldn't go back to sleep. So now It's after 9 a.m. I'm on my first cuppa coffee. And I think I can finally harvest the 7 hour crop.

Here I go! (PS: we need a sheep with a walker smilie).

 

Red Wood Planks (they are drops from the Event field) are required in about all of the building upgrades.

Anyone had their Ship changed from their first choice? I had selected the middle one for the neon light bulb, was able to donate 2 evnt crops after sowing a full 1x1 field. This morning going for the first full donation, my ship is now the one with the crate o' buffs??!!

 

I do the middle ship too but I had no change this morning. Maybe talk to the devs, they might be able to turn it back for you?

 

You have to click the ship and it will change its name as well as the rewards and you will see the option you selected. I also selected the one with the Neon light bulb. At first I thought I had lost my crops that I had donated, but they are still there.

 

I chose the red ship for SL's farm. We'll see if it stay's red when I make the next donation.

nwTrout1: added you to all four of my active farms for drops. Good neighbors are getting hard to find. I picked up a few new ones over the last several months, but several have quit farming, so had room.

 

It doesn't work... Yesterday I had selected the middle ship, donated 2 blade crops hoping that it would lock it and it didn't... I tried clicking on everything and it still stays on the one choice I didn't make. The other two boat images are gone and at the bottom of the ship there's a 0/3 written...

And this is crazy, if I click on one building it will open the improvement tab, select the boat and then click on the the boat picture, it changes to the other option I didn't chose! But will not let me revert to my own desired boat...

 

Northy, see you leveled up overnight! Congratulations...do you think your ship was affected by the wind buffeting your rapid rise to a new level up? Sorry, it's early here and I too seem to be affected by the Norse madness...at least MM is over for a while and we have one less plate to spin. Woke at 4:30 and unable to sleep again so checked here after 90 minutes of trying in vain to sleep more.

My only strategy so far, besides following PedroFish's suggestions, is to keep open several tabs with details for each building and keep an eye on my inventory. I chose the middle ship and still need 70 blades to make the first contribution. My ship hasn't strayed from its anchor so far, but then, I've not contributed anything yet.

Update: Mead Hall - just completed it after seeing the 122 red wood planks for the ship/CR are next to last requirement, and at the rate the blades are harvested, it will be several days before I need those planks!

I began Ingrid's House; contributed 56/132 red shields (aka scarlet...shades of Gone with the Wind!) for third upgrade.

Trout, I would definitely say red planks are the most needed gift atm.

The same thing was happening to me until yesterday, but since this morning, it's like Pnp said: just click on the ship that appears on the center and on each click it changes to the next. The donations remain there.

FAQ does not state the time, but I assume 14:00 CET (same as countdown for opening third part of event field and Axe throwing minigame)

 

Thanks Flower, but still not working this morning. I can only altenate between the two choices I didn't want. At this point I do not care anymore, it just made the event a tad worse (can't go farther than the gutter).

 

I'm no change of having the tools required for any of the archery options - wood planks and nails no problem, but not the feather collectors, paint or scrap metal! As a quest player I donate my tools daily so don't have these stocked up. Toolbox donations would be much appreciated to even just try to get there!

 

For some unknown reason, after completing the bridge, I started on Ingrid's Home! Will see if I can also start on one of the ships (have my eye on the bulb). Slow going, only my 3rd crop on the 2nd field now. Nice though, that the 1st field crop goes exactly twice in the 2nd field crop, time-wise (2x 3h36min).

 

Updated suggested strategy for remaining event:

1. Scarlet shields (crop from first part of event field) - if you finished the bridge keep growing and donating to other buildings as they give decorations needed for cloud rows) - total for all remaining buildings 2 157 (not counting bridge)

- Mead hall - 445 (donations 106+132+207)
- Ingrid's home - 768 (donations 80+106+132+212+238 )
- Viking longhouse - 637 (from 3.12) - (donations 160+212+265)
- Archery Range - 307 (from 3.12.)

2. Bitter Blade (10h crop from second part of event field)

Ship - for cloud row (without last donation) - 637 bitter blade ( 3 donations of 160+212+265), you will also need 122 redwood planks
- whole ship - 743 bitter blade (last donation for ship to start collecting broth is 106, which is about 3 harvests)

Archery range - 206 (needed for decorations) - this will require 5 harvests!

!!! After getting cloud row decide how much time you have left and if you cannot do 8 harvests in remaining time, I would save the rest of bitter blade for Archery range instead of trying to get free broth.

Ship (up to cloud row) + archery = 843 bitter blade
To finish whole ship and archery range - 949 bitter blade

3. Golden root (5h crop starting tomorrow - 3.12) - third part of event field

- to get cloud row - 1386 golden root needed for 22 Viking broth (along with 1075 drinking horn) to play 22 minigames
- to finish all minigames - 1953 golden root needed for 32 Viking broth (along with 1568 drinking horn) to play 32 minigames

The third part of event field should have 58 - 1x1 fields, so to get cloud row will require 24 harvests (easily doable within 6 days if you harvest at least 4 times a day), to finish all games will require 34 harvests

All the numbers for Golden root assumed that no free Viking broth was collected from the ship!!

I hope this make sense.

P.S. This event is really slow and frustrating, but still possible!!

Edit: 5 bitter blade is now rebooking every 5h, so partial donations to the ship are definitely worth it, as if collected regularly, that is worth of 2 harvests by the end of the event!!

 

Thank you pedrofish for all the help you have posted! So far following your posts I have completed the Bridge, then after getting ALL the crops and drops needed I upgraded the Mead Hall completing that one , I now have just completely upgraded
Ingrid's home and replanted the Scarlet shields! I am still growing the Bitter blade but only have 285 there is no way I think I can get to 743 by the 3rd BUT I will keep growing them! Good luck to everyone and seriously this is so boring and such a waste of time
using this field in MY Opinion!

 

Thank you for the reminder, I kept forgetting to do this!

 

Hopefully it will get better after we can actually play Axe Throwing! I think you can still do it with the ship, just make sure to donate everything to the ship right away, so you get those 5 bitter blade every 5h (it is big help long term) and after getting cloud row decide if finishing ship is worth it.

Of course I forgot! Only collected first one today . I hope i did not miss much!

 

Never got a rebooking oh the 5 bitter blade every 5h, only got the 10 for finishing the bridge and that was it. Looking at your numbers above for the rest of the event gave me nausea... Squeezing 3 harvests of the bitter blade crop to try to complete the boat to probably get 1 or 2 free broths is insane!

 

I think they only started rebooking bitter blade today. I got 5 of them couple hours ago.

And I agree, I will probably not push for the free broths and only do cloud row and Archery range and then 22 games of axe throwing for the other cloud row. If I will have spare bitter blade at the end, I will spend it in the Viking shop. (Even though I might miss out on Piccolo box and Baba Yaga hut)

 

Thank you for the detailed outline to help us reach the finish line of the event I'm aiming to do all the axe throwing mini games as I would like another Baba Yaga.

This event is a full time job keeping track of multiple crops with multiple donation buildings.

@squigglegiggle - I don't know what quest you are working on but you may find a quest that gives toolboxes as rewards that will help with the event.

This event is certainly a lesson in patience and perseverance. Congrats to those who are making good progress and best wishes we all reach our goals.
