City Tasks

I am really getting tired of these tasks. This morning I had one on this farm: use 4 super-grow on any field. So I used four super-grow on the rainforest. Nothing. Waited. Nothing. Didn't fulfill the request. So I rest it with a BB: harvest a storehouse. Um, yeah, not gonna happen in time, I've already harvested everything (I gotta remember to NOT do everything until these things are satisfied). So then I used three green lightbulbs: And I get harvest four workshops. Again, everything is already harvested for the day...crumb. So I put out four mustache salons and used powerfeed on them have set the timer to go off to remind me to harvest them in 3 hours.

WHY am I letting this game run my life?

 

Oh, dear, PM...so sorry as you already have lots going on and the game should be a place to visit and relax. When my own RL situations changed, I had a very difficult time to distance myself from the game as it, and the Forum, had become a part of my 'life'/'routine'. It was causing me so much distress and guilt. I finally decided to step back and take a look at how I wanted to rearrange my life and what I could do (and when) to give a better balance. Not easy and we each are likely to experience similar feelings/situations at some point. Maybe this is a time for you to take a breath and allow yourself to relax and think about what you can do that doesn't cause stress, and what gives the most joy without negatively impacting some other area of your life.

The City and Master tasks can truly be a bear. I decided to skip events and allow myself to focus on EV and the tasks. I changed my game routine and the first thing I do is check the tasks. What I do next depends on the tasks, and I feel more free and focused to enjoy the game and also RL gets the attention it should have. I hope you can allow yourself to find what works best for you. Be patient, be kind with yourself.

PS...I almost don't want to write this, but I hope that using PF on the workshops will count. The tasks can be quite impish at times with how they consider a task completed. I have gotten to the point when I have to harvest any stall or workshop or crop or tree to skip any type of thing to speed up the process. I will use buffs in D/G/S slots and a +buff before harvesting, but anything applied directly to the item except what is needed to start the process is left off. I know that's an extreme step, but I can't keep track of all the nuances, and play it safe.

For the super-grow you might try to switch fields before switching tasks. Before you applied SG, did you water those crops?

Just an update from my final MC task. I had to harvest 15 sun collectors on the Green Meadow. I set them out overnight with only food (no water or PF). This morning, I collected the amount needed, but it didn't register. I was debating to switch fields, then decided to 'clean the mess' and that completed the task.

Obviously we're all having to find the action which triggers the game registering a task as completed. Glad we have this thread.

 

Just ripped out Jute that had 6 hours until harvestable on SL's magical glade to put in cornflowers. Why? Why am I doing these tasks for the measly rewards? I'm growing the cornflower for THREE powerfeed. And when I get to the end of the set of 6 rewards SL's farm gets 75 super grow.

This is getting dumber by the minute.

Oh, and when you DON'T do these things? You get a pop up as you move from field to field and every time you do anything there's a reminder about these things. So it's a drive-you-nuts thing whether you do it or not!

So, I guess, to answer my own question above, I ripped out the jute and put in cornflowers to keep from having to look at nag-messages.

I know some of the prizes are pretty naff for the work involved but I have had Stub-Toed Toads, Cucas as well as 16 BBs (twice) so I am happy to continue.

I have stopped tearing whole fields out and now, if time allows, wait till that field is free. We get about 4 days to finish so if you do at least two tasks a day, it is possible to complete in slow time.

 

Now why didn't I think of that - just start the darn thing to shut off the messages.

And, yes, I've gotten a few better things, too, Illy. Just seems so frustrating at times.

We're off to the RL farmer's market soon - and the temps have dropped and we had rain all day yesterday, so hoping the fires around us are out now and that would mean the smoke is gone, too. Crossing fingers for a decent day.

 

Everything crossed for you PM23. We are having some startlingly high temps here and with the floods we had at the beginning of the year, it all seems very surreal! And not in a good way, garden has all the hues of brown!

I like the City and MasterClass tasks but sometimes I set out all my fields and need to do a little amendment - but I figure, why do I grow all this stuff, if not to complete tasks and quests. I have a streak of 28 weeks!
Holiday (again!) soon so not sure I can maintain the momentum but I am going to try!
