For those who have gotten scrap metal as drops...

I have the Living Legend rune open at 28% and Howie Donuts on every field and not one Scrap Metal Drop. Also, did NOT get any from the Event Quest Tool box prizes or NAB gifts or Chicken Pet (I have five...they give 10 tools each). I did get quite a few from the Tool box special. So, they are far and few between!

 

Just checked out the refinements in the greenhouse. Wow, the greenhouse looks nothing like what it did the first time I looked at it. I am now "researching" a medium greenhouse with corn (a plant I grow regularly). Much easier to use and much clearer than when I started playing in March.

I just got a scrap metal when I harvested a bunch of animal pens. Sorry, don't know which one... but it's nice to know these do drop every once in a while when harvesting.

 

I finally saw my first scrap metal drop today off a field of peonies, I think. I really wasn't paying much attention to what I was harvesting.

Very random.

 

I have managed to get enough for one base pen - I trawled through all the quests that I have not done in the Farmer's Society and did three with XXL toolboxes as prizes. This gave me enough scrap metal for the one pen. The XXL toolboxes were prizes in some breeding quests.

 

Just got my first Scrap metal drop ( one), I had Glow Mold ( new MM crop) planted and also red pens out.

 

Surprisingly, earlier this week I got one from a harvest of Corn
And I got one from harvesting my animal pens.

 

The metal is so rare that, after I build my frist pot factory, everytime, I look at my harvest,
just disappointed. I try to open 2 more XXL toolbox from a quest, not even one metals find.
so,3-4 days ago, I no more check the tool pop up from harvest.

Ah, I had one metal stay alone on my barn!
I remember I had not open any toolbox after the last time I check my tools. It's Zero at all time.
So, I got this one either from harvest or from gift toolbox, pet's toolbox.
I then check my bottom farm log record, in 30hr activity, I don't get the metal from harvest or
toolbox gift. So, it stay at my barn before that time.

 

I finally got my last from a field of begonias - didn't think I'd ever get there, but I though that about the chopsticks and they soon started raining down (my sceptical guess is right about when toolbox purchasing slowed down!).

 

Doing the Donkeys & Dragons quest (cooking pots) worked my way down to level 9 of the quest, where the prizes are Toolboxes, I recieved three XL Toolboxes and NOT one Scrap Metal....I think that is really odd

Update...Just got a Scrap Metal from harvesting a Textile Mill

 

One farm got a zen rake from Main and scrap metal from Glade during same morning harvest. Was in a hurry so I didn't write down which farm but none of them have enough for a basic forge yet. The drop rate for scrap metal seems to be slower than zen rakes. But I had toolboxes for zen rakes.

 

I just got a Scrap Metal from my trees and stables field if that is of any help or suggestion.

 

I've still only got 1 little lost Scrap Metal..sitting all alone in Inventory.....by the time I manage to Harvest another one, to build a Pen..the poor sucker will be rusted....

 

This tread reminds me to see how many of these metals I have.
Today I saw that I have 4!!! So I think I will built one cookware forge today!

I just saw that the normal cookware forge needs 5 metals.
I have only four but I have 5 pack burro donkeys so I can build the yellow one.
Do you think I should build the yellow?

 

The yellow is an upgrade which will need a base unit before you can use it. Do you have a base unit?

The yellow upgrade only gains you 4 hrs over the base. The orange gains 13.5 hrs but requires more scrap metal and 4 opera donkeys.
I normally like to build orange not yellow but the drop rate on scrap metal could take weeks to gain you enough to go with orange. I'd only build the yellow if you have the base unit AND plan to keep it on a field for the next few weeks. If you won't have it out, wait for the opportunity to go orange.

So I will wait for one more metal for the regular cookware forge and if I want something more I will go for the orange

 

If you did the quest you may have gotten the orange upgrade from it. I did.
My second farm FINALLY got scrap metal from a field of carnations in the glade. So that farm has 3 from the toolboxes during the event and one field drop. One more I can build a forge for that farm and put the orange upgrade on it. The other two farms each have already done that.

 

Ι didn't do the quest but I bred donkeys to sell them. The cuckoo breeding event made me spend a lot of CC and I wanted to replace them so I sold breeding donkeys.
