The calender looks nice. Just remember, there might be harvesters in it. Don't peek in the socks before bedtime.

    Good call Dienstag!

I started playing last year about the middle of December. My DH, who had been playing about a month, showed me the Advent Calendar and I "had" to be a part. It was so much fun being a new player and getting so many wonderful little gifts to get my farm started. I'm so excited to do it again! :)

My Kiddies will have a chocolate filled one. Just like I had, when I was little. It is a lot of fun. And you learn pretty fast, that cheating (taking the next day(s) ) will only hurt/disappoint you self.;)

It's so easy to make them and fun.

I read in the grapevine of the German forum that this year if we miss a day, we might have to pay BB's to pick it up the present afterwards. And that we will only be able to get the last day (24th of December) after having opened all previous presents...

I really hope that this is just a bad joke!!!
Because that is not the Christmas spirit that I am looking for in a game: especially considering that this is the most important time of the year to spend time with your family and a time of generosity/giving. It should just be okay to get off the game for a day or even a couple of days to see your family. Varun, just imagine someone crushing everything that Diwali stands for... I really enjoyed my time in India over that very special holiday and would be very upset if someone would try to take advantage of that holy time of the year as much as I would be if someone just crushed the Christmas Spirit (or any other international/national holiday that is specifically important to the spirit of family and generosity for that matter) just to take advantage of it. Btw. Christmas is the time that I get to spend extra money on the game, because this is usually the presents I am asking for... i. e. a harvester subscription is an affordable present and I am usually getting so much extra fun out of it.

The idea that BP is trying so forcefully to get up their sales of PF/BB's is not only upsetting people that don't pay real money. I tend to spend some money on occasion on harvesters and Barnyard Bills in support of a team that is offering a free and enjoyable game. Oh and I spend a lot of time in countries that don't even get the chance of earning BB's by watching movies; just another added disadvantage to players that don't live in wealthy countries. I just wish I could feel as a part of a community that has no borders, may they be geographical, cultural or between social classes. I guess I am a dreamer... after all.

Just a small correction, you can get the gift from the last sock on the 24th anyway. There is an extra, special present, you can only open if you have collected all the socks.

So far even if you have missed some day(s), you could have simply open it/them later, one by one, all up to "window" for current day.
Just not in advance, and not after AC is closed, of course.

Right. And you got the ep/cc exchange if it was something event related and finished at the time you opened the window.

Well, that will probably not be the case this year. I was really hoping that the buying of missed days with BB's would just be a bad rumor, but considering Mir's comment, I really start to believe that this will be the case after all.
For now I will tell my family to hold back with the Farmerama presents for Thanksgiving and Christmas until I find out for sure. As I had mentioned in a previous post: I am indeed considering to stop playing the game altogether, if a dynamic will be implemented that gives me the feeling of being punished for spending time with my family over Advent/Christmas. Or at least BP will not get a single cent anymore from me or my family because this is NOT the spirit I would want to support at all. I live overseas and only get to visit them on rare occasions. On top of that we are planning a trip to a cabin in the woods. Considering that my family is already annoyed with me checking on the game frequently, I just wouldn't ask them to drive me into town each day just so that I can pick up a present. And I probably don't need the stuff in them anyway... and people will say that it is free stuff, just be happy with what you get then (like Fuzzles)... but this is different and I disagree with policies that implement punishments for non-attendance.
Events give us usually enough time to miss a couple of days and now we are talking about an"event" that lasts over a period of three weeks and forces me to check in daily in one of the busiest times of the year to most people on the game!!

It certainly seems so, but there is still time for them to change it. Lets not give up hope :)

    Thank you Mir.
I didn't mind BP trying to boost their PF sales. I understand that they need to earn money after all and I am supporting the team by paying real money when I can. Especially over Christmas and for Birthdays I am usually asking for presents concerning this game, because I enjoy it and me living so far away, I am not in need for "things" that would need to be shipped... Again a little harvester or PF package was an affordable present to ask for.
And I actually have other ideas on how BP could get up sales instead of just concentrating on PF or crushing the Christmas Spirit in order to do so. And so do other people, i.e. offering non-available recipes in the shop for BB's or on the party wheel to make it worthwhile spending money on party spins (so far I consider the party wheel a total bust and therefor winning party spins in events not very rewarding).

Alas, I have to agree with this statement.
As I know, this game falls under category of "leisure". That kind of rule is completely opposite of the idea.

Well, we'll see. Hope that BP will reconsider.

Well, I'm considering quitting after the 16th of December (when my Premium status runs out) as I've had more frustrations in this game that I've won Singing Flowers.
Now they will reward anyone with no life. Nice move...

    :(:(:(

How many years do you play this game?
and why do you want to stop( There must be more reasons that you aren't lucky enough)

I completely understand how you feel... It is just too frustrating and takes all the fun out of the game!

I just bought a harvester for a couple of months so that I could be quick on the game while being with my family. I might just wait until these run out, but at the same time what for?

I just saw an announcement on a different fansite (here a rough translation):
"Here is the new Sock Calendar! Starting on the 1st of December. Every day a useful present. Every sock opened in a row? Then you will get a special goodie! And for the diligent sock collectors there will be a special price waiting for you on the 24th of December as well!
Missed a day? No problem! Use BB's to collect socks afterwards. Be part of the event and sweeten the waiting period with the sock calendar!"

It actually sounds like BP is doing us a favor by letting us buy those missed days. That really makes me feel even worse, than before. What a twisted way of presenting this rip-off. First destroy the Christmas Spirit, then punish players that actually have a life besides the game (your family or BP, your choice...) and then sell the whole idea by wording it as a generous offer. Thank you BP for showing me what you are made of.

I actually posted in the German forum as well in the hope that it might swing the dev team to get some feedback from a bigger community concerning their new "idea" - they got 80.000 members! That thread was difficult for me to formulate in the first place and now it just got bumped out completely by being closed and after having been moved around a bit by the mods. I got a lot of support in the short time that it lasted though. At the end it was posted in the "Game related Chit-Chat" which actually translates into "what concerns/moves the players". And then the mods finally decided that this was not an appropriate thread in that section either. And here I am thinking that it should be up to me to decide what concerns me or what I would like to "chit-chat" about. The Users/Speakers Corner should really be less restricted and uncensored (unless being rude, which I wasn't at all); I thought that this part of the forum was reserved to exchange ideas, opinions and concerns or even just to chat.... very disappointing indeed!

I am so glad that our grapevine is so much better organized, you can actually look up subjects instead of that mess over there. A single thread for all rumors! It is so difficult to find an older post to reply to once a couple of days have passed. Thank you so much to our mods again! You are doing a great job.
