Noah's Ark seems like an impossible quest to me. At my level, I don't have 12-24 chicken farms to accomplish even the first task! And the last task? 60 Ostriches?? Really???

Wanna share how you've done it?

There was a thread on the old Forum with some really good ideas. If you want to participate in the December quests you might hold off doing anything that requires tools, unless you have tons of extra tools, until January.

If you wait until G&B old-timers will probably gift you their used pens. ;)
They work just as well as brand new ones and "beaming" them cleans off all the dust and cobwebs.

It seems like you might need PF to do that last couple of challenges in Noah's... but you don't. Just good timing. Theses days we have Crafting Products to speed thing along.

I completed the quest a couple of years ago. I was gifted some pens for the last few challenges. Thanks to old-timers that no longer post or have moved on.

I have managed to finish that quest. I built up my cc's then bought 1/2 the pens needed (e.g. 30 ostrich). Just before my pens were ready to harvest I started the quest, harvested and then waited to harvest the second time - no PF needed, just a healthy stock of pens. I got lots of my pens from farmers emptying barns during the gift and trade.

Blazie, the low level animal pens are really cheap. A chicken coop costs 220cc. In my market, a chicken sells for 200cc, and manure for 50cc (right now). Buy up to twelve chicken coops, set them out and feed them. When the chickens are ready, you can sell the chickens and manure on the market and you will have made up for the cost of the coops :D

I have 88 chicken coops, enough for two full fields. When the manure price goes up to 150cc or 200cc and I have time, I will put them out and earn lots of cc :D

The first pens are really not that expensive to buy. Some of the later ones you can probably get during G&T like Suzee and TC mentioned :)

TC has the correct strategy to complete the quest steps. Have your pens ready to harvest, start the clock and then harvest. It takes half the time that way. (It's the same for all the timed quests.) BTW, If you don't finish in the time alloted, your crops/animals/tree fruit are returned to you and you can start again. Most people I know have waited until a Gift and Trade event to complete the latter steps of this quest (I haven't even started it, I'm in no hurry.). Mir is right, many farmers will be happy to help you get the pens you need and there will be a "Wish list" thread started when the G&T is announced.

Awesome ideas! Thank you! I now have hope. ;)

Mir - great logic. Purchase and then sell to make up the cost. :D

Thanks again to all of you!

I am near the end now. I bought/built/won 4-5 pens of each "production" item, and then bought 1/2 of the required animal pens. As said above, I started the pens before beginning the quest, started the quest THEN harvested. Once or twice I goofed and harvested too soon. At least the products are not lost as they are for events. I do this "between" events. The same strategy works for more or less all the timed quests.

The nice thing is that you can do this whenever you wish. If its too daunting now, just wait... before long it won't seem to rough.

PS-- events like this chestnut event are a good time to take stock and SELL, SELL, SELL... then you can get your ccs to buy pens. Regular pens are JUST FINE! You probably won't use them much or at all after.

Oh... yeah, when thinking about selling/gifting pens, think of future events, not just quests. I did well on prior quests because I was able to put down 15-20 of, say, cow pens at once. I let them sit an extra time and then had plenty to sell. (just a thought)

Great advice, woody! I tried it out on the chickens.... and WON! :D

Harvested a little too soon and just made it. Not as daunting as I though. So, I'll keep the pens and sell the products during events that require that product, right? Great idea!

When I first started and realized the number of pens required, I thought it was nuts and couldn't imagine spending that much CC on pens.
    :music:
Fast forward just a bit, I realize there is no such thing as too many pens and CC aren't that hard to come by. As woody said, ypu never know when you will need a quick batch or two of this or that, either to use or sell during events that call for certain animals. And, while the farm is young it might be too dear at times to buy lots of animals from the market, you can work on building a stockpile so you're prepared and in a good position to eventually pick and choose those you want to grow and those you want to buy.

I second Mir's words on chickens. At some point you may want as many chicken pens as fields available for them. Orange preferably, but plain old chickens will do at first. Chickens are always a good bet for events, sell well for and in anaconda feed, but in particular manure farming during events you aren't participating (or even, those you are). $$$ :D

No such thing as too many pens. Promise. ;)

Chickens actually have a high CC/EV selling price. And as mentioned poo! During events usually gets above 100CCs, been known to get over 200CCs per unit. Please sell it in lots of 25+ units. Don't bother using it except on really long crops. It's more valuable to you as something to sell. Once price drops below 10-5, I stop selling and use it in the florist or hoard it.

During the intro of breeding I bought even more pens and now have about 80 fish, horse, pig, etc pens. Now I use mostly the upgraded pens. Maybe 10 at most. So giving away a few is no big deal. I'll just buy more if I need them.

Sorry I did forget the most important part of waiting to start timer until pens were ready. But I knew others would fill in the gaps. ;)

Well, chickens are definitely the easiest and fastest. And hoarding will not be a problem for me. This is great info! Thanks again, to all of you! :inlove:

Edit: Just to let you know. Your words have been memorialized in my handy-dandy-trusty Excel worksheet. :D

<---- This is a farmer_broke farm started yesterday. As I can never check all the farms in a day, the farms turn into animal farms in order not to get weeds.

It takes only 1/2 of the pens to complete petting zoo and Noah's Ark. These farms do not even check in time to use 1/2 of the pens so all of the pens required are purchased. This has been done over time. Few of the low level farms have much to speak of but they do have the infrastructure in place to generate fortunes. A few farms have million but no time to check them.

With only a single field now I will get 44 cheap chicken pens. Then as leveling up will move to rabbits and on and on. I do not complete the quests just because I can but wait until there are ccs enough to give away the feed and the animals. Simply sell the nimal to generate the funds for the next.

The farmer_broke for has followed the same logic and has 128 pens of all the common animals with a few rare pens and production pens that come from who knows where. Keep your mill spinning.

At one time I was so broke I wished I had no spent so much on animal pens. Look at the price of ostriches and donkeys. Nothing to put out pens. They have long been paid for.

There is always the ability to grow anything.
