I'm glad you guys still have some electricity and internet. Power failures always make these storms worse.

I saw on the news a glimpse of a crew of about 10 ppl on a roof trying to take the load off. What a great community service project for Boy Scouts and such.

I live in a flood plain. We're starting our 4th year of drought. Every winter I'm as worried about the possibility of flooding as I am drought. I feel your concern.

SuzeeRabbit so it never rains there?

Thank you farmiliy for suggesting seeing photos of snow...
I like snow but what is happening in Buffalo is a nightmare for the residents.

The only day I had to go out this week we got rain. I believe they said it was .2 inches, two-tenths of an inch. So far we're at about half of average for this year. Too soon to worry except for we already have a deficit. We typically get most, about 80-90%, of our rain between Dec-Mar. We count on snow melt from the Sierra's. Last three winters... not nearly enough. Almost no skiing. Drought is bad and getting worse. The snow that got dumped on the Northeast came from a super typhoon in Asia, went north of us, then started dumping moisture in the middle of the country. Plus they have "lake effect" snow. It's always bad when they get it. This year really early in the season and more than usual.

Melt the snow, put it in a pipeline, send it West, way way West.

8)Pepsishot, please accept my apologies - I did not know that you lived there where all the snow is!:( Of course you are included in all hopes and prayers for your safety.:inlove: Are you in Buffalo, or one of the surrounding towns?? Are you all o.k. and coping with this storm well?? o_O I hope the rain isn't as damaging as the snow. As you can see, we are all thinking about you and hoping for the best. Please let us know how you are doing through all this....:):inlove:

Hey Desi & Pepsi - I just read on the news that evacuations are planned. Does this affect you in any way?

Not in our area but yes they will evacuate people if the waters get too high. My husband was over at his mom's today and one of the creeks over there was already flooding some roads and now they are closing them. Please no more rain. Are lights have been flickering here so I pray that people who do not have generators do not lose power as basements will flood.

No need to apologize. I've only ever said I live in the western part of the state, never narrowed it down for anyone to know. I'm in a surrounding town. We are coping as well as most people. Lots of shoveling and now draining. The rain and melting snow is not good. A lot of roof damage is being done.

Thank you all for your thought and prayers for everyone in our area. This has been an interesting week to say the least.

I know we can't put links to sites with pictures but you can google it ;). It's something to see!!!

    8) Hi, Desi and Pepsi! How are you all doing?? Have you all come through this hard time o.k.?? Are things starting to get back to 'normal'?? Is everyone safe?? Would an update be possible??:):)

Oh yes it would be! Our family has been caught up in clean up and helping others. With all the warmer weather we've found our town again and the "flooding" turned out to be ok. Nothing too major for any of those around me. Just high creek beds and a little in a few basements. Nothing our pump couldn't handle. Everything has gotten back to a normal routine.

@desi20 I hope things are similar for you.

Hi farmlily3, yes everything is back to normal. With the warm up alot of the snow melted and minor flooding. Some people had water in their basements so that will be a mess to clean up, been through that before so I know their pain. People are still cleaning up from collasped roofs at business and one family lost their whole house, so sad. Praying that we never have another lake affect like that again.

Thanks for the update! It is good to know that you and your community is safe with minimal damage except that 1 family. What a loss to lose one's house, security and memories. It sounds like you live in a helpful community so I am sure this family will get the help that they need. TY God for helping this community.
