I was wondering if I could get some advice. My animal trophy is at 11%, crop trophy is at 13%. I was going to upgrade animal to 12%. My question is does the 1% make that much of a diff in getting event drops? I really hope this doesn't sound too stupid of a question o_Oo_O

Good question, and my honest answer: "I don't know!!!". I finished both and unlocked the rune on the Tree of wisdom, but to be honest, I've got the impression that I am still getting less drops than my son (he's got both trophies somewhere in your range).
So, it's a decision based on how cheap it comes, if you got the animals to donate, then from a completion-freak's standpoint, I would say go for it......but I wouldn't recommend to start buying animals to complete it. For event drops it is usually good to have a strong and reliable neighborhood.

P.S. There are no stupid questions, unless it's me who is asking!

There has been a discussion on this before. It might have been on the old forum. If I remember correctly, most opinions were that it really wasn't worth the donations. Some completed it just because of FOCD (Farmerama Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

julie, I really think it makes some difference, if it is worth can maybe be answered by another question:

Do you get the needed event drops easily?
If no, then I would definitely go ahead with the trophies. I would say crop trophy 14-15% (high level fruits/roses) and animal trophy 12-13% is reasonable.
I have completed the crop trophy, and I am halfway to 14% (that means 13,5% :pxD) on the animal trophy. It is so nice not having to worry about the drops. I usually tell my neighbors to keep sending toolboxes also during events, because I know I will not need the extra drop items. And if the drop requirement is a bit higher than usual, I know I can still make it :)

Thanks everyone for your replies :D Michael, yes I have my own animals that I could donate. Suzee, thanks for the link! I read it before but was good to refresh this memory of mine ;) Mir, most times I have my crops 2-3 days before I have enough drops. Maybe I just need to be patient about getting all of the drops required for this one. My crop trophy is almost to the 14%. Just hope after I donate the animals I won't need them for any upcoming events. I have learned however to never completely use all of one animal. Must keep some in the barn.;) Cali, Alas, yes, I am self diagnosing that I too have developed FOCD xDxDxD Thanks again!

But how long before the events ends do you have all the drops?

I usually get 170 drops per day on average, I think suzee said she usually gets close to 200...

I have a maxed out LL rune and yes, close to an average of 200 event drops per day. Depending on how much RL interferes. Once I was getting enough drops to finish and event the day before it ended I stopped stressing. It was somewhere around a combined total of 23%. Then I just concentrated on maxing the crop trophy first. When I finished it I pretty much coasted until I got bored and wanted a task for my FOCD. ;)

Hold onto your animals for now. Try to get a reserve of around ~100 for each. More for chickens, less for higher level or rare animals.

    julie,

At that level, based on my experience both in my main (this one) and my 2 lower lvl farms, increasing 1% in your animal trophy will have an almost negligible effect, since you already are at almost 14% in your crop trophy.

In other words, that 1% is not worth dumping your animals into that black hole. You can find lots of better uses for them.

I say so because a combined 13%+11%=24% is more than enough to perform well in both generic and event specific drops, provided you keep your non-barren lands busy all or most of the time and you farm frequently (Suzee's suggested event strategies are in this sense applicable to non-event periods). It will even be more so once you get to 14% in your crops trophy, meaning a combined 25%. I noticed that difference only really matters till you get to a combined 20/21%. From there upwards, it's not significant.

In my main I've left the animal trophy sitting at 12% and don't bother to get it to 13%. Believe me: thanks to that, I'm never short of animals when unexpected requests come out of the blue, I'm always ready to get the most of fat juicy nFHOs that include animals and I'm also ready to benefit from sudden temporary surges in the animals mkts.

Translated to a short sentence: I strongly recommend you -and anyone at such a level in the animal trophy- to simply stop there and forget about it.....

Mir, After looking back at other events, I would say I usually get all my drops anywhere from 1/2 day to 2 days before event ends. It was just the total of 1500 drops that I was concerned about. But I will have my crops for this event in about an hour and I have 478 presents and 372 hats so I guess I should be fine. Aluntino and Suzee, I will follow your advice about the animal trophy and keep my critters for now. I was actually not liking the idea of letting all of them go like that as I am somewhat of a hoarder and would dearly miss them! xD ;)
