Oh - these have been sooo funny! I love them all. But farmlily's made me cry. What a sweet, sweet story. I still tear up thinking about it.

I have stories about cockroaches and spiders and snakes. But for today, I'm sharing one about my grand-treasure. Ollie (Oliver) is brilliant and instinctively knows how to place the blame on the right shoulders.

When Ollie was three, his dad woke up to find him in the kitchen "making breakfast." The sauce pan had rice crispies, sugar, cookies and marshmallows in it.

"What are you doing?" Dad asks.

    "Making breakfast..."

"Are you going to eat that?"

Ollie responds, "Yep! I just need to finish it." He grabs the bag of marshmallows, pulls out a few and adds them to his... well his... breakfast?

Dad looks out the window and sees Mom drive up and park in the driveway. At this point Dad says, "o_Ooh! You're in trouble! Mom just drove up."

Ollie calmly looks at his dad, points his finger at him and replies, "Nope! You are... you're supposed to be watching me."

Recently, our dog Popcorn (avatar) came to me and was looking at me full of intent. I did not know what she wanted as she had been fed, water is always available, had already been outside and been petted/loved on often. I asked her 'what do you want?' and she just kept starting so intently trying to communicate her message. I must have been slow on the uptake because she then started pawing me gently. I asked my son 'what does she want? She is trying to tell me and I can't figure it out' and he with the same quirky sense of humor of my husband said to lean down and let her 'whisper' in my ear to tell me. Of course I knew where this was going.....

I never did figure out what she wanted but after the lick in my ear she was content. Silly dog....silly boy...even sillier pnp!

You all are wonderful..just when I needed some stories to make my night brighter I remembered here ..Thank you all for keeping it up..!!

    I have a story too .. :)

My old cat Vinny..he was black and fat and the sweetest cat ever..
Well my daughters 1st birthday had just passed and we had this massive mylar helium balloon of a dolphin that was starting to droop a tiny bit slowly going to the floor ..
Vinny decided to go and investigate what it was when the door had made it finally swing close enough down to where he could smell it if he stood on the table..
A few minutes later while I was holding my newly bathed daughter in a towel when I hear/see this screeching cat blur ..

He was running so fast around the center of the house(we had almost an island type design so he went through the hallway around the living room through the kitchen and back through the hallway ..circle after circle screeching!!
I finally stand in front of him anticipating his next cicrle around and realize he has the balloon string wrapped around his tail and he thinks its chasing him LOL..

I can't catch him..the dolphin hot on his tail..literally and it takes me,my mom and my poor 1yr old daughter dangling from my arms to get him to stop..hes panting and shaking..btw..he HATED balloons from there out :p I wonder why??

    Another story for you. :)

Yesterday when I was doing my RL stuff I saw a cockroach nymph on my table. I was so tired that my mind when totally crazy. Used my keyboard to hit it. It dropped on the floor, still alive. The worst thing ever: I rolled my chair on it until it died a terrible death. The whole cockroach became a hundred pieces. This is what I will do when I am exhausted.

I went back cause I realized I didn't hit reply before when I tried to send my message lol..

I wanted to say a few things ..

@farmlily3 I totally needed tissues!! That was so sweet.. :)

@farmerumf ..my 14yr old daughter is TERRIFIED of moths..I mean she cries her heart out if one even is said to be in the house..I feel so bad for her ,but sometimes it's hard to understand why such a harmless thing is so scary..then I remember Im a massive chicken and I'm terrified of the sound of balloons popping, anything dressed with it's face covered like a clown..and many other silly things lol!! Though I make up for it cause I'm the person who takes out every spider..even caught and put out a black widow for my friend a few months back :)

@Brookeham ..I smiled when you said your son Ryan cause that is my sons nick name..his real name is Orion but I call him Ryan or Ry :) He is 11yrs old..then I read on that your other son is Grant..that was my dad's name..he passed away when I was 19..he was actually my sorta step dad but was with us since I was 4yrs old so pretty much as much of a dad as can be..such a great name <3

I have another story, but have to go wake my kids first and didn't want to forget to post again lol!! brb

I'm also loving this thread....the stories, funny or sad...are wonderful! Great idea ImTypo!! Fabulous name "Orion"!!! Our Ryan's nickname, was Ryan the Lyon....b/c as soon as he awoke(as a baby) he roared to be fed!!! We once had a neighbor with a son named Ryan Grant. We all thought that was a huge coincidence!

pnp - Popcorn's staring at you...reminds me of just how sensitive our animals are. They can definitely sense when something is bothering us....whether it be physical or emotional....they seem to know we need some love!:inlove:

We had a yellow lab, Toby, who could NOT stand for us to argue! Any time any of us would raise our voices, he would stare at us and bark...a unique bark, that was different from his usual ones. Needless to say, it cured all of us of yelling at one another. To this day, even though our big yellow boy is no longer with us, we never raise our voices at one another. What a blessing Toby was! We miss him so!:(

Another Toby story....when my boys were little, I was terrified someone would take them. We had quite a few child abductions in our area....which scared me to death! :oops:So I daily played a game with the boys & Toby. We have a big yard with lots of trees and shrubs....so I would get Toby's attention with a toy....and then have the boys hide. Then I would ask Toby, where, by name, 1 of the boys were. "Where's Ryan" I would repeat. He would search frantically until he found that specific boy I had asked him to. He was rewarded with squeals of delight by whatever child he found and loads of love and kisses from all of us.
I was training him to find either child....by scent....if they ever were lost. Thankfully, we never had to put his skill to the test....but it was a delightful way, each day, to play.;)

    8) What wonderful, fantastic stories! This is my FAVORITE thread:inlove::inlove: You have all made me laugh, cry, and just about smile my face off!!xD:cry::D:D:D

Brookeham - I'm so impressed with the way you taught your Toby to find your kids, while having fun and playing!! It should be taught in every applicable curriculum everywhere!

ImTypo - Thank you so much for starting this thread....it was an inspiration!:inlove: On another note...
:eek:o_OA Black Widow spider??!!! You actually RE-LOCATED a *cringe*shudder*shriek* Black Widow spider???! Aarghhh!......
We lived in California for 3 yrs. when I was 9-12 yrs. old. One summer we went back to Connecticut to visit my Grandparents. When we returned, the house had black widows draped across the doorways, in corners on the wraparound porch, etc. A few days later we found one in my walk-in CLOSET, just slowly strolling his way across the top of the clothing on the bar!!:wuerg::wuerg::eek: I have never recovered! LOL! (Not!!)
Poor Vinny - he must have been really traumatized to be chased by his food!xD (Dolphin. Yes, I know they're not really 'fish'. lol) Your description was sooo funny!

Everyone - Your stories are so enjoyable I can hardly wait to finish harvesting so I can come here and laugh and feel good for the day! Thank you!! MORE! MORE!:D:D:D

Aww thanks so much Brookeham & farmlily3 :D It's been the highlight of my days seeing the stories..
I forgot to say @wolfeyesone the stories don't have to be a big one or even super great..it's fun just to share a teeny bit of each others memories :)

So I actually have three stories, but need to finish my work before I can type them up..but I can't stop checking back hoping for more stories LOL

Ok so I'm back and here is my first story :)

It was from when I was first born ..I have no idea why this story came to mind but here it is :D

My brother was only 3 yrs old and he was soooo excited when I was born because my mom kept telling him"It's OUR baby"..she wanted him to feel included since I would be taking up so much time now..

Well she had me layed on the bed upstairs and she ran downstairs to grab my bottles while getting ready to leave somewhere..

My brother was told to please be a good boy and watch sister while she ran and got the bottles ..he did as was told and was so proud he was yelling downstairs"don't worry I'm watching the baby"..!!
She decided to let him be an even bigger "helper" and yelled to him"Honey could you do mommy a big favor and bring sisters diaper bag downstairs to me??" ..
Of course he was super excited to be helping with the new baby..
She hears him stomp down the stairs one by one and he's taking forever and she says"honey can you please hurry and hand mommy the diaper bag??" He stomps down a few more stairs and she looks up at him to grab the diaper bag..

She sees him..he is standing mid stairway holding ME..this very newborn baby in his arms..but not cradled i his arms NOPE..he is carrying me by the neck lol..wrapped his little pudgy arms around my neck my body hanging down limply..he says sooo proudly"I gots the baby instead"!! :D

My mom nearly died but held it together long enough to get me safety into her arms :p

Thank you sooo much for this thread:D I have laughed at all the stories with the exception of the cat. I truly needed this today as RL has been really "trying" this week. I instantly freeze when I see a spider and my mom always used to say "Julie, do you realize how much bigger you are than that spider? It's probably more scared of you" I would say "I doubt that very much! " My boys used to chuckle when I they got older and I would have them take care of the spiders for me but my daughter takes after me. However, she is lucky that they make a spray she can put around her doors and windows that apparently is pet safe or she wouldn't use it. But I do have to laugh with her when she sees one in the house bc she'll say "Gotta get the spray out!" farmlily3, my last cat passed about 5 yrs ago (2 mos after our dog) and I still haven't gotten another one. I have had animals pass away but these last 2 really broke my heart. Every time I open a can of tuna or package of meat, I still can hear her doing her crazy meows as if saying "Please give me some NOW!"

I am not frightened of insects but I am terrified of snakes and I don't want any bats flying around my head. Over the years, I have gotten less anxious because I have a daughter who is not afraid of anything and actually loves creepy crawlies. Her heart is very tender toward the animal kingdom and rescues everything that is hurt. She loves all animals but her heart lies with wildlife rehabilitation. Of course, everything she has brought home she wants to keep...In addition to any stray dog or cat stopping by for a meal and affection, we have had birds, bats, turtles, snakes, chipmunk, hamster, rabbit, fish (the list goes on and on)...one year she found a preying mantis and brought it in for observation. She laid her eggs in my daughter's room (in a terrarium) and in the middle of winter since the house was so warm, hundreds (thousands?) of baby preying mantis were all over her bedroom. She was upset with me when I took the tank outside as I am sure they died but just could not have that many indoors.

She brought me a worm from the yard when she was about 5 years old and told me it was a baby snake. It was the size of an earthworm (night crawler) used for fishing. I thought she was mistaken until....I got close to it to get a really good look and .....it stuck its tongue out at me! It remains one her favorite stories to tell people...she wanted to bring it indoors...Nope. No way!

She did bring a snake inside that had fallen out of a tree onto her shoulders because it was injured and she wanted me to give it first aid. I just could not....I sent her back outside with it to put it in a quiet place in the yard it could 'rest' without the dogs bothering it. Now it is a standing order to not bring anything inside so she stands on the porch, knocks on the door, and I can see her 'treasures' with the glass door between us. I love her tender heart and fearlessness but still will not consent to a pet snake!

Wow, your daughter is so brave.o_O One thing to add, I am super terrified of snakes because I heard many stories where the character gets eaten by the snake.
