    The machinery sows like this:

While normal logic would suggest THIS:

I ALWAYS get upset by the idiotic way the seeder sows!!!! :cry:Please please please fix! Give the seeder some brains!

I agree....it is not just seeding but watering as well (and possibly manure but not sure since I do not use it regularly outside of event start up seeds).

If it sows strangely, like your example, it is because the plots weren't placed at the same time. Example:

Say your field was full with animal pens, and 1x1 plots along the edges. Then you delete the pens and put 1x1 plots there instead. If you now use the sower, it will sow along the edges first.
If you delete all the plots and put out new ones with the builder, the sower will sow like you suggested :)

pnp, I think it is the same with watering and manure ;)

This has its uses, in theory you could do the following at event start: Delete all plots, put out 10 2x2 plots and fill the rest of the field with 1x1. Then use the sower to sow the 10 event crops. The event crops should now be sowed on the big plots and not on the small. I have never tried it, a bit too risky for me

@-Mir85- Didn't know that! Thank you, that is useful information. :D

I still want the seeder to have upgraded brains though! So that this does not happen! ;)

I see something strange, and I have to try and figure out why :) since we are dealing with computers, there is usually a logical explanation behind the madness :wuerg::pxD

Yh... Moo en logic!...... not. xD that is why I expect the SEEDER to be logical, cuz i can't do it myself....think logically!

    well..... sort of....

This used to bug me too. It's especially annoying because if you're doing events it harvests the crops in the same order it planted them...then plants them in that order again, so the strange pattern stays.

Once I'd worked out why it was doing it, though, the solution was obvious. When I'm clearing trees or whatever to replace with 1x1 fields, I also delete the existing 1x1 fields before putting them all back. It takes literally an extra second, and no more irritation!

I, too, find it irritating, but still better than placing myself. I tend to use it mostly for the 1 X 1, with CAC for events and such. Then when I want to go back to "regular" plots, I wind up having to rearrange them. When I do it myself, I usually get 4-5 more big plots. Otherwise, I tend to get 1 X 1 in between my 4 X 4, rather than at the edges. The fact that I have trees that I tend to keep is part of the issue, but I have issues even when I start with a fully "blank" slate.

AND.. it is incredibly frustrating to have severl big 4 X 4, on which I want to use Super grow, but if I forget to delete the 1X 1 -- basically forget I have them OR goof and plant them before using supergrow, then I can find all my supergrow basically wasted on the tiny plots. This could be readily fixed! There is no reason priority cannot be given to comfort fields, then 4X4, at least as an option for the builder.

No, I do this and it doesn't work fully. Even with a completely empty field, you can place more 4X4 by doing it manually, or by using it and then moving the larger ones around.

EDIT: The above said, I also know that this is probably one of those things that seem easy to us as humans, but that can be very difficult to program effectively. If they want to try, I would suggest looking at a "corner" and using that as the basis, rather than the edge. Might take a bit of playing around, though, and I am guessing this won't be a high priority because we already have a functioning program.
