Feedback: Mini Events

sLR280 has the right idea, I got orange rabbit pens to pair up with my existing...orange rabbit pens.
I spent some serious coin over the weekend and ended up with 4 out of 30 mystery stables that I didn't have previously. If I could buy a skunk or groundhog outright I would prefer to do it that way and not suffer through a run of 7 stables that I immediately took off the field because I didn't need them and went back for another round to try my luck.

 

• Communication for the last 2 mini events moonlight mania AND Renzo has been absolutely TERRIBLE!!! Unless one specifically came to the forum or clicked on the timer to check, there was no way to know that the event had been moved up a whole 24 hours.

Yes, we ALL DO UNDERSTAND that the preview is an estimate, that the calender is the official time, but this is NOT WORKING for a huge number of us. You really need to make an announcement that appears in the initial news feed when you make such a sudden change. The calender works when things are predictable, not when you spring these last minute surprises on us. I come in after work, when I am tired and play, or when I first get up.. and may not be fully awake. Its supposed to be my relaxing time. Instead, you have begun making it "frustration time", simply because of your lack of effective communication.

I have heard complaints before that you seem to only care about those in the European time zone. First you scheduled Renzo with short notice in a way that meant those in your time zone got an extra set of tickets (those of us in the US were mostly sleeping during the first day), now you basically cut us out of moonlight mania! At least Renzo is easily visible. Moonlight mania is not.

You know this event is one many people look forward to, all we are asking for is better communication!

I am sorry, but with all due respect, please tell us what better communication are you expecting . How much more effective can it be than have events / mini events posted in the Mini Events Official announcements, and added to the Forum Calendar Feature? We cannot send you all e-mails or text messages to inform each of you in particular. It is so hurtful to read such comments... "lack of effective communication" - please let us know what do you expect from us? How do you wish to be informed to not make these kind of statements? It was not a last minute surprise, it was announced almost 21 hours before the event start.

It rather concerns players that don't check the forum so often. The post specifically asks for more information ingame, in the news layer, and especially if there are last minute changes.


woody, I only tried to clarify what I understood from your post, if I got it wrong, I apologize.

 

It is distressing to read these unavoidable glitches/difficulties - from both sides. If I may clarify a bit the suggestion that Woody made - because it is a good one and does reach everyone. He suggested that Delayed Events be announced in the initial news feed that pops up whenever each of us logs on to the game, just as Events are normally announced.

This seems to be an excellent suggestion which covers reaching everyone...and it does so immediately, without any delay or having to go to the forum to find out, which some of those who work do not have time to do.

This is such a simple solution that I must commend Woody on the suggestion, and hope the devs will seriously consider its merits.

As always, Teddy, thank you for your hard and time-consuming efforts to help all of us.

 

Ok, thank you so the lack of communication referred to is in game? ...But you are all well aware that the way the Game Team communicates with you is through the Forum. And once you're in game, and see the news layer, is not that much of a big deal to check the Forum Event announcements, no? All the events and mini events are announced in one place, you don't have to go through the entire forum to get there, so it's not that much time "wasted", is it?

There are so many languages the game is available in, and communicating information through the game would be far less efficient . If something unexpected occurs, we get an e-mail from the Team, all the languages can translate and communicate it promptly on the Forum, through the Mod Teams. If an official text would have to be written and send to Localization department to be translated, they would need a deadline for their employees to translate it, then send it all back and implement it into the game ... the end results would be less efficient. Of course it works for events that are scheduled and the process can be reviewed and translated and implemented, but for 'additional' information and live updates ...

 

I appreciated, and I enjoyed the events and mini events. But this time I'm going to complain about MM. Something needs to be changed about MM mini event.
For example I live in Korea. Always MM starts the evening on 10-11 o'clock and the next day afternoon ends. I come home at around 2-3 in the afternoon. Just for bat breeding it's needed many corps just for that. So what possibilities I have, how many months I need to produce what I need for MM missions?
It's like take a kid in a candy store and buy for her just a chewing gum, "-Next time I will buy you a candy" .... and so on.
About MM mini event... is too much.

 

Put it in the news banner, particularly if changes are made within 48 hours of an event. Most people don't go to the forums first, we go to our farms, then the forums. Doing it the other way is awkward and a bit time-consuming. I tend to check in at least 2 times a day, but at least one of those times is generally rushed. The forums are good for general, long term information, for estimates. When you know for sure Moonlight mania or Renzo are happening, put it in the news banner we see at the beginning, just like you do sales.

Similarly, if there is a major issue with a pre-announced event, then post the notice in the news feed.

Basically, the idea that the only or best place to confer important information is the forums is just wrong. Anything urgent should be put in the news we see when we first log on... and the most important should go up top.

Oh, and email is probably the absolutely WORST way to communicate important information, unless the site itself is utterly down for more than a short bit. I do not live on my email. The language issue is real, but no more than with email. For one thing, you really just need a couple of announcements that you can pre-translate. "scheduled event delayed until..... sorry... go see forum for details" and "moonlight mania begins at ...1AM CST " etc. I often only check my email only 2-3 times a week, when I need to see stuff to do with my kids school. As for texting.. I don't even have that ability. If I did, I would not be signing up for farmerama texting.


Also, although I was not addressing it in this particular post, (and have noticed improvement in some recent events) specifics about cloud rows (that you have to get all themed items to make a themed row effective, in particular.... that not all events are designed for all people, etc.) should be briefly given in the event headers/side bars themselves. The stories are "eh", somewhat fun, but we could do without them. The information is what we need (or at least what newer players need).

EDIT 1: Overall... the most major/timely information needs to be transmitted IN the game.. in news, etc. You don't need details, just quick blurbs The forum is great for details, advance notices and things (like bonus codes) that you want people to have to "work" a tad to get into. Few people visit forums in online games. Those of us here are exceptions, not the rule.

I enjoyed having a Baby boom day that was not directly associated with an event. It was a tad close to the other one, meaning I had already used most of my powerfeed, but I always like BBD, evne if I can only participate a little.

Two points though,
1) It would have been nice to have had a teensy bit more warning.
2) With the way it is set up, it takes quite a bit of time to search through trade offers, so having the Renzo's Fair at the same time required either constant time at the computer or choosing not to participate in one or the other. I would rather have had Renzo's during the current event where there is some "wait" time between crops.

We have all had to learn a lot of things to play farmerama effectively... now we need to learn to check the forum before we do stuff on the farm.

If we don't want to check the forum before we do stuff on the farm that is OUR problem not yours nor Bigpoints.

It would be lovely if Bigpoint would give us more notice of events like a longer MM or different quest for MM, or a shop sale [oh my goodness I would have cried so much if I would have missed that] and the event everyone has been waiting at least a 18 months for... the Fabulous Gift and Trade event.

To summarize... We love you Teddy

Please let Bigpoint know we would like more notice of
1. Changes to MM
2. New events for MM
3. Shop Sales xxx
4. The fabulous barter and trade event

I really love the B&T event and wouldn't mind seeing it happen more often. The trade portion is still a nightmare but that is due more to so many players posting unreasonable trades than anything else.
I must also add that we usually get at least 24 hours notice before the mini-event start time. There have been some exceptions but I chalk it up to "that's life". Sometimes there will be tech problems and as for the occasional missed notice.... who's perfect.

I was waiting for the dedicated G&T feedback thread, but it doesn't seem to be forthcoming so I'll post my feedback for the recent G&T event here.
Overall, great event, I loved it! I would love to see it more often. This is really an awesome way to see what a great community we are.

The only thing that could have been better: adding a search field to the trade interface, so that we can look for all offers containing something specific (e.g. reindeer), rather than having to manually scroll through the pages. While the two options to narrow the results down (depending on what was offered vs. what was asked for) is useful, sometimes we're just looking for one specific thing (a reindeer) and having to scroll through 50 pages containing all of the other animal pen offers is time-consuming, especially if there are no reindeer-containing offers.

Love G and T - would like to see it more often, but with a search button! Even with its glitches I love it - win, win situation!

 

G/T is my favorite event in the game-- above secret stables/seedlings and Baby boom. I would like to see if more often, more advance notice, last longer, and a search button would be the absolute best feature added.

Gift & Trade is awesome ​

Thank you for holding a G&T earlier than expected As others have mentioned, I really hope the rework of G&T will include the implementation of a search option. And please get rid of the scrolling in the pages. It is really annoying to have to scroll to see all the offers. It would be so much faster if we could see all the offers on each page at the same time. Changing the name of the event from "Barter and trade" (or whatever it is called) to "Gift & Trade" would also be appreciated


I really liked having the half price shop sale during the G&T, a good opportunity for players to buy something to trade with

But also running Renzo left me a little Renzo didn't get much attention from me, I used the free tickets and got a prize, but that was it.

 

Thank you for providing the recent Barter, Gift and Exchange Event.

In doing so, I believe BP has shown they are attuned to the requests and desires of their community.

A few advantageous suggestions have been mentioned within other threads Re: ease of use; improving search functions; name/friend select, I hope you will consider them.

I will be looking forward to it's next arrival, since it is my favorite FARMERAMA event and to any improvements you may implement.

 

Thank you for the recent G & T thread. LOVED IT! Do think a bit more notice would have been nice. Several long time players mentioned almost missing it, because they were taking a break from recent events.

 

The G&T event was amazing and fun. I agree with everyone else about the search options being improved. It was extremely time consuming to search through the offered trades.
