Pets for non-paying players

I'm a non-paying player, as many of you know, and have never purchased any pets before. The only pet I have is the flying reindeer which I won during the Christmas event many years back.
I would be interested in investing in some pets (without paying RL money) if it is worth it.

For your reference in helping me, the pets available to me for no RL cost are:

• Owl - 150 BB - +10% EP for 10 minutes
• Dragon - 1000 Renzo chips - +20% EP for 20 minutes
• Crow - 45 BB - +5% EP for 15 minutes
• Chicken - 99 BB - 10 tools + 350 EP

Obviously, as a player who spends no RL money, these BB costs (and the Renzo chips) are no small price for me to pay. I would be willing to cash out this amount in time if the pet was worth it, though.

My question is, how valuable are these pets really? Would they be worth the exorbitant cost? Or am I better to save my BBs and spend them elsewhere?

 

The owl recharges in 30 minutes so you can use it many times all day long. If you are always short on tools, the chicken is handy. Unless you want to spend you Renzo chips on something else, the Dragon is nice. That being said, it's possible that it may not be the big prize in that spot the next time the game comes around so you may have to modify what you want there. The crow has a 12 hour recharge so BB for BB, I'd take the owl first. All except the dragon can be purchased for half during a half price shop sale. (That's when I bought mine.)

 

Do they make a significant difference on the farm? Or is the bonus too small to be of any value?

 

I noticed a big difference when I got my owls they would be my first priority without a doubt

The dragon is also great, how good depends a bit on your playing style. It of course works best if you have two big harvests a day. I use my dragon (together with my unicorn) mostly for BEP purposes. I have some colored stables on baha that I harvest twice a day. So I activate the dragon and unicorn when I harvest them

Not paying RL money I wouldn't buy the crow and chicken pets at all.

Can you move pets? That is, if I first set it in the green glade can I later move it to shipwreck, when I open it up, or not?

 

I'm pretty sure you can, woody. I accidentally deleted one of my pets while trying to move it from one part of my park to another, and it went back to my inventory, so I was able to put it out again, and didn't have to wait for it to hatch all over again either.

 

My dragon had been retired for long time, it is resting in my inventory because there was an announcement last year or even before, at the time they renewed Renzo's reward, what I understood then that it does not give any bonuses any more, it is animation only, or that's what I thought that time, also when I hover my mouse over it, it does not show anything, so are you guys talking about the same dragon, or this is different dragon, or I was wrong, if so tell me pleas so I can use it again.

As for the question of the OP: the chickens helped me to build a huge supply of tools over the years, I have 2 of them, some people have three, I can build a very big number of stalls and what holds me is the colored animals only, in general the EP from the pets are always welcomed and they come handy in the events that ask for EP to finish quests while you have limited time.

 

I have the pet dragon from Renzo's, spent ages collecting those chips to get him. I have him in shipwreck bay and he gives me an extra ep bonus of 20% for 20 minutes.... cooldown time is 10 hours so he can be used twice a day ..... I sure love that Dragon !!!

 

If I remember correctly, the dragon gives 20% EP boost for a short duration of time, worth remembering to activate before harvesting, especially combined with other pets.

 

My morning strategy is to 1) grab my gifts from Fuzzles (sometimes he gives an ep bonus), 2) activate anything I want on magical stalk as pets do not increase ep's gained from here. 3) Go to pantry and use whatever buffs you need for day such as CAC, ZAB, CB etc. 4) Activate my pets.... I keep them all in one place so I don't miss one. 5) Finally I harvest everything.

This is my dragon, I think it is an old one, I think I need another 1000 chips again to buy the new one, this one does not give anymore EP, and still I can see it in Renzo's items, I suppose these items can be bought only once and there place becomes vacant, this is not the case with me. anyway, thank you for caring to answer me.

abubadi66 as far as I know there is only one dragon pet, and your looks like it. Are you sure you are not confusing it with the juggling dragon? That is a deco and I think it was available from Renzo. I've got 2 dragons, 1 from Renzo and one from mentoring and they are both the same. Once you've had the pet from Renzo you can't win another from the fair.

With 6x owls and 6x crows, 2x dragons, a squirrel and unicorn I certainly notice a big difference in EP. if everything is due for harvesting I can get 105k EP from the park and about 85K from shipwreck, about double what I get without them.

Owl is definitely the best option, as it only takes 30 mins to recharge

Yes it is strange, I joined six months before you Mir, in the first few months there was a Renzo fair, then it stopped for a long time and I remember I posted that time asking about Renzo, and a lovely moderator answered me that we are all waiting Renzo, and it came back after 7 months after the first Renzo that year, and surly I could not have the dragon that time, and Jools, no I am not confused and it is not the juggling dragon, also the mentoring system did not open for me, any way, I have to go and dig back in the archive, I remember working hard to pay for that dragon, and yes, I found I can still buy the dragon from Renzo, just need to have the 1000 chips, I was saving for the GB from Renzo, but that have to change now, this dragon is a priority now.

I found something on the issue of the dragon, on the faq's section, under Renzo, I found that this dragon was announced on October 2013, before that there were other gifts including other version of the dragon, and now I remembered, it was replaced buy this new dragon, I think the price was 850 chips, and that time there was no GBs, but before that I could not dig anymore, I think all the old announcements were gone with the old forum.

 

orla the wise owl is a pet?

 

No Orla is just a limited charge item. The pets can be bought for barnyard bills in the shop. They give 10% ep boost for 10mins every 30 mins.
