How the Weather in Your Neck of the Woods?

dgirl, I hear ya! It was -12 here when I got up and thankfully no snow overnight here either. I know I said I wasn't going outside yesterday for any reason BUT when I came home Sat. night around 10:30 I was walking through snow that was almost up to my knees (I'm only 5'2") So I decided that I would rather tackle it on Sunday since I would be home all day rather than Monday when I have to be ready to go babysit again. It was -9 when I did that but I made quick work of it and the path may not be that wide but at least it won't be up around my ankles and calves I really don't like getting the end of my pant legs wet with snow and snow inside my boots so my socks are wet when I have to go somewhere and I am not able to change them. Yes, I could take extra socks and change them but I don't want to drag another pair of pants to change into

 

It is 12F here this morning, expecting 5-8 inches of snow this evening in the MD/DC area. Snow makes people crazy here, all the schools and government will most likely be closed tomorrow.

 

tlcmom, Isn't that a lot of snow for that area? If so, they probably don't have the adequate supplies or trucks to take care of it all at once. I'm just glad this is all the further north I go. Wouldn't want to be in NY or any of the New England states I truly keep wishing these storms would give these poor people a break from the storms!!

 

I would like to share some photos of my island the first time it snowed this year.

 

The area has adequate supplies and trucks. It is such a mixture of people international who may not have every dealt with snow before. Plus the area can go from city to suburban to rural the need for different snow removal techniques.

Υes the fist time there was much snow. The last 2 days that it snowed it wasn't that much.

 

Trees and power lines snapping and breaking from the Cold.
Run water advisories to keep pipes from bursting.
We wont get above freezing for at least a week... feeling like Antarctica

 

Banjoman I know what you are saying I went in to work on Saturday and we had no water since it was 1/2 day landlord did not even show up. Tuesday ( first day back) should be a mess no toilet yuck

10 inches of snow in the last 12 hours with more to come. Windchills are -2 and will continue to fall over the next few days.

 

I think its time to move the snow party to penguilnz's so they can enjoy our wine, chocolate and all our snow Maybe if we each took a foot of snow we can make one giant snow Teddy, have a bon fire and sing or maybe not sing Make sure you wear your or the snow might blind you like it did me today. in the snow, I am just in the snow

 

Great idea, desi! - A 'Sharing-the-Snow Party'!! Arielh and penguilnz and all our Greek and Aussie and other friends who don't normally have snow will make such happy targets for a snowball fight!! And Giant-Snow-Teddy can referee while the real Teddy gets in a lick or two. Then it's the 'snow-newbie's' turn...errrr....Isn't it time for some of that wine and chocolate??...

Well the snow is still coming down. I think 5 inches so far going to snow all night. Our government is official closed tomorrow and all schools closed. Nothing happening here.

I need some of that wine and chocolate.

 

It's sunny now, so it's very hot.

Another winter mix on the way....

2-4 inches of snow tonight added to our 10-12 inches
Falling temps will give us -25 by Thurs/Fri (record lows for this area)

Had trouble starting car this morning for son to go to work. We had to ask a neighbor to jump it.

 

-11 today but no snow or wind makes it feel warmer
