I always look forward to the mystery seedling (and stables) events, but have mixed feelings about the combo pack. On the one hand, its convenient and the gaurantee of a new tree is nice. On the other hand, encouraging people to buy bulk packs instead of just trying until they get what they want or run out of money will mean more rare trees out there.

Because the cost is so high for these packs, but cheaper per item for those who put the money down, (not to mention the guarantee), it is yet one more step toward skewing the game to those who pay real money. It is getting close to the point where this is no longer really a free game, at least not if you did not start a while ago and get a good many of the cloud rows, etc. that have been offered in events.

This leads to another or more basic conundrum, one with no ready solution that I can see. Overall its that people ask for, demand, that things be made easier, but then get bored when they are too easy. Folks (myself included) like and want more rare trees, more rare items, BUT.... when they are offered more then cease to be truly rare. (aka "catawpa" trees and angels trumpets). We like getting the special trees... eggs, milk, etc. (none of which I have, just as an aside, but still...), but then the market for those items drops significantly to the point where its no longer productive to produce those items in regular stalls. (costs far more to buy them than to purchase them). The fact that some people who are able to spend real money (myself currently.. though I am reaching my limit VERY quickly!) and basically "skip over" some of the "trials and tribulations" makes the game seem even more skewed. You do have to make real money to keep the game going, we all know that, but lately it seems the balance is getting too skewed toward payments. Multiple events (of ALL kinds) is contributing to that skew and basically just wearing us all out.

The "saving grace" is that this is not a "competition" game. Still, people to share and communicate and they can certainly see prices of items in the markets. When some people get lots and lots of skips, buffs, etc in what seems like a "free" manner, because they earned them in past events, it seems to set up a mountain that is difficult for newer people to see past. Again, I am not sure what the solution really is, (am thinking about it) but it does seem that things are getting a tad too skewed toward real purchases and multiple events.

As a final note, that may not be true at all --- stats are hard to judge on such a limited sample, but it seems as though the new trees are appearing less often in the regular packs (this may or may not be true -- perception is VERY deceptive in stats, I know full well!). If there is a different algorithm being used or if you have just made it harder to get the new trees overall.... this is a change I definitely do not like. It would be one more move toward making spending real money essentially mandatory to keep going in the game, at least for newer players.

I am a player who spends money on games, I was reluctant to buy the packages, but then, I bought 1 of each, and I felt guilty and like I am betraying my friends on the forum for doing this, let us say the money is not the issue here, but I wanted to try and give my feed back upon my experience not upon expectations, so first, when usually people merchandize for offers in bulk quantities, they reduce the price to make it appealing and attractive, and BP here killed that point by raising the price, second what is the use of one rare tree ( the latest) added to the package, while other players get it by purchasing small quantities, and I saw players who bought 10 seeds and got 2 of that rare tree, that's for sure another big hit to the package, the third point is that from the 30 seedling in the package I got 2 more kowhai trees, while the black thorn did not appear even once for me, even in the last event, you may say we do not have control over the randomness of the results, then again the results are not good, on the contrary they are bad to me from each batch of 6 I harvest I got 3 or 4 lemon trees, xl and xxl that I have too many now, and again the catapala tree still I am getting too much, so the package is not balanced, and I am not excited to buy packages any more, and to be fair the Corsica package for the island was little better, I got a tree of each of the new trees and the Amherstia I got 2 more beside the 1 that's included in the package, but again, too many bananas and coconuts xxl, which supposed to be behind me after playing for more than three years now, for me I learned my lesson, I will stick to buying small batches of 6 or 8 seedlings and if I did not get what I want may be I will buy again another 4 or 6, and that would be it, the barn is full of useless trees and stalls now.

I almost never buy mystery trees, because I never get what I need. However this time I got tempted to give it another try. I bought 8 mystery trees for my regular farm and 8 for Baharama. I have not harvested Baharama yet, but as usually, I only got junk trees for my farm. 3 lemons, I don't need, one XXL orange I have too many off, and other XL trees, which I already have and do not need. None of the 3 trees I needed came. So once again I feel like I have been had. I do not think this is good for advance player. Only beginner may get something out of it. I will keep you posted with my Baharama trees, but I'm not holding my breath.
I do spend some money on the game, for the harvester and the mill subscriptions. This is worth it as we know what we are paying for.
The mystery stable and trees are a rip off.

One of the things I love and appreciate the most about this game is the fact that it is equal: there is no 'ranking' like other games, and those who do pay for things do not get any kind of "special treatment" or "extra benefits/privileges." Of course, you can argue about the premium packs offered, but I personally believe that the purchase of a premium pack does not give a farmer an advantage over another nor do I feel like it will make a player's experience any more exciting or pleasurable than those who do not purchase them. I understand that BP has to make money etc but I have a feeling that soon enough we may have to begin paying for all these "special things" and that does not seem fair to me. Of course, it is entirely a player's choice if they wish to spend BB and I am not condemning those who do, but it would be a shame to see the introduction of a 'ranking' whereby players who pay get better things than those who do not.

I have never spent money on a premium pack/subscription etc nor do I spend BB and my experience of the game has probably been as enjoyable as those who do pay for these things. I guess it depends on personal preference - I do not see the premium packs/subscriptions as necessary nor do I believe that they will will help me in the game. I've not really missed out on any of the privileges or "special things" and I have been lucky enough to get many of my rare trees and stables from generous farmers in previous G&T events, but this was when I very first started playing back in 2011. I've not really played as religiously since then, until the last couple of months, and I've only ever purchased BBs whenever there is a mystery seedling event, past and present. To me, that is not too bad as these events don't come round too often. I guess you could argue then that I in fact pay for these "extra benefits/privileges" but the only reason I purchase these rare trees is because I see these as necessary for the game as they are required for FSQs and animal feed.

I am not sure what the underlying purpose of the packs are; will it make the new trees more rare or less rare? The cost for the guarantee of one of these new rare trees is 60BB. This may seem like a lot to some players, whereas to others it may not. It all depends on the individual: whether they spend BB on the game in general, spend BB for the privilege of rare items etc. In my opinion, I think guaranteeing players a new tree if they pay for it will make these trees less rare. Some of the rare trees from previous mystery seedlings are now in the shop. As a result, they are no longer as special or rare as they used to be. They were very rare at the beginning as they were not introduced into the shop immediately, so the only way you could acquire one of these rare trees was by purchasing mystery seedlings and waiting for the event to come round again if you had no luck, or through the G&T event. But, in theory, the new trees are already being sold, in which case I just think what was the point in making them "rare?"

P.S. I realise some of what I have said can be seen as a poor argument, but I am not here to argue, I am simply giving my opinion.

I do spend real money on the game - I have a premium pack that gives me limitless water and also have a mill subscription and harvest helper. I also buy BBs from time to time. I think the packs that guarantee a certain tree are ok - I understand what you mean oldmcdonald, but there is really nothing more annoying than spending your hard-earned on a gazillion wonder trees only to NOT get the one you were really after. I think the pack is fine. You only get one of them guaranteed - not enough to really affect the rarity imho - and it was expensive to do it that way rather than take your chances, so many people probably wont do it. I bought one of each pack and have ended up with 1 kowhai and 2 amherstia, plus a blackthorn. The others weren't special. I'm happy to pay for these bonuses and am aware that by my doing so, others get to play without spending real money, so to me it kind of works out ok. I think the premiums I pay for are largely labour-saving, though the mill subscription does help in CC terms, as I am able to sell feed more often, but I think its pretty minimal - it wouldn't make up for someone not bothering to buy and sell on the market cleverly (though my brain can't manage charts and the likeo_O). I too am glad there's no 'ranking' as such. That would seem to benefit most those who don't need it. I also consider myself a generous neighbour, and give out lots to those at lower levels than myself to help them along, if I can at all afford to. That 'pays for' my buyer's guilt! Anyway - I buy my premiums because I'm an impatient person and it keeps me interested in playing - I have nothing but respect for those who don't, and would never want to see the game become commercial to the point where those players were at a disadvantage. There should be room for us all!

    Kiss kiss to you xx

I love the mystery seedlings and I too spend a SMALL amount of money on the game. I like the idea of bulk packs, but at a discounted price. Whether I get the new tree or not is not the point for me; I enjoy the surprise so these new packs at ridiculous prices immediately turned me off. I chose to buy just 10 of each instead. Had the packs been a better deal I would have purchased them. I would like to say that XL apricot/lemon trees/pomegranate are just irritating me now - they are the new xxl catalpa tree.

Before I entered into this event, I read many comments that were skeptical of BP 's fairness in the chances of getting wanted trees. I have experienced poor returns on new trees especially early in such an event. And I had my suspicions when this event ran at the same time as a quest was introduced, needing these two new trees to complete.
So I decided to buy 42 trees for 210 BB's for the mainfarm and Bahamarama (Yes I spend when I want to)
Result: Not one Kowhai tree and not one Amherstia tree.
Hmmm..... HHmmmm.... A period of time elapsed..... Hmmmm...
OK BP, you have me in a corner.
So I cannot finish this quest. I like finishing quests. I have to pay. So I buy the expensive packs - another 420 BB's.
But this time I don't want to spend it.
Result: Four Amherstia trees and only the guaranteed one Kowhai.

I consider myself to be a big spender in this game, going by the english forum , but due to the blatant odds manipulation by Big Point in this event - so blatant that if this was a gambling site you would get investigated - well you will have noticed my payment records have been removed, and the Devil will die of frostbite before I spend one bent cent here ever again.

I am a lover of all things "secret", and I tend to spend way more BB than I should each mini mystery event. I understand that results are random, and I can live with that. I can't say I'm not extremely disappointed in the mainland seedling results this time, tho. I'm a level 88 player, and I'm getting XL apples, oranges, plums, pears... This seems a bit ludicrous. Granted, I'm getting a lot of XXL trees also, which if nothing else can go on the train or be traded at G&T. But out of 42 trees so far, I haven't gotten a single Kowhai, nor even any Blackthorn Plum, while others are getting 2 and 3 out of smaller bunches purchased. Don't get me wrong, I admit I'm a tad bit jealous of those lucky farmers, but also very excited for them that they "won" the big prize (congratulations to all you lucky ducks!;):D). And I wouldn't feel so downhearted about not getting the Kowhai if the odds of getting the Blackthorn, which was introduced 2 seedling events ago if I remember correctly, were not seemingly as poor as those of the newest tree. I finally caved and bought the mainland package, not so much because I just had to have the Kowhai (I would have been content to wait until the next seedling event to try again), but because I want a Blackthorn, and I figured if I was going to keep buying seedlings I might as well get a guaranteed new tree rather than keep throwing my BBs away for nothing. In a fit of disgust I planted them all at once, something I never do, so we'll see how wise a decision that turned out to be in a few hours (not very, I'm sure). I will say that the Baha odds seemed a LITTLE bit better this time around, I actually managed to get the Amherstia tree on my second batch of 5, and have gotten several Bhudda's Hand trees to boot, tho no Tamarind. My only real complaint there is the high number of XL & XXL Pomegranates-.-. Overall, this event, always one of my favorites, has been a let down for me, going from fun to frustrating with each passing harvest of lesser and lesser value trees.:(

Here's my two cents worth on the trees. 240BB and NO NEW TREE of any kind from Baha or Main.
I Got Trees that are way below my level (82) and I got the ultimate insult...a catalpa.
I'm so done with this moving the carrot farther away. I bought all 60 in one shot hoping it would help. now I know it's an inside joke. one that I'm not in on. Not happy with this. I have no more bb's to gamble with.

as i read all these post about secret seedlings it saddens me to see a game site do this to their players . its bad enough to pay for so many trees and not get the ones your hoping to get i only bought 5 n got 3 xxl lemon 1 sukura n 1 elderberry none of which i needed . i decided not to buy anymore .it's a wonder anyone cares to play this game the higher u go the more waiting instead of playing u do waiting for crops to grow . i for one am getting very disgusted with the game . get real bp !!!

I love secret seedlings - it's one of the fun mysteries for me and at 5BB each, not unreasonably priced IMO. The seedlings I have no grudge with and I understand that the newer the tree the lower the possibility of getting one, this I am fine with. I hate that I always get an abundance of one tree though - it used to be xxl catalpa, now it seems to be the lemon trees, apricots and elderberries. There seems to be far fewer normal xl trees which is nice though. The new packages are a big turn off for me - seriously overpriced. I could purchase 30 seedlings plus and additional 11 for the same price therefore increasing my chances of a new tree and it's always a surprise. I don't mind spending money if I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of.
