What to choose?
do you go with which one will return the most cc's?
do you choose the one which costs the least amount of stars?

or is there something i am not seeing, something that will benefit me later on?

Depends on what your primary game goal is. Personally I just go for the cheapest one to unlock next level in the tree, and then go back for the others later (you will be able to unlock all of them eventually) when I have nothing specific I want to spend my stars on. One extra breeding animal regardless of what type isn't going to make that huge of a difference. Especially since you're now able to win them fairly often from the wheel. If you're very eager to sell it for CCs though, I guess the most expensive one could make sense, but the extra stars it'd cost are better spent to get to the Baby Boom rune faster in my opinion.

 

Hi feelfree2win, I would choose the flaming steer since it is the one that you will need later on for the last part of the cloud row quest. It will save you later on having to breed or buy one.

 

I have finished unlocking all the ruins recently, after playing for more than three years I found that I did a mistake by doing the branches and not heading to the top first, I used to open the cheapest first, If I have to do it again, I will go up straight to the top and on the way I shall unlock some important runes like bundle of joy and quick breeder, the gifts and some few others, the colored animals can wait, and with many breeding events it is not that big thing unless it is needed urgently, I opened the vacation mode and found I did not use it.

 

I agree with most of the above.. you will soon be able to buy or make most of the breeding animals and while they are nice to have at any point, its more cost effective to use your stars to head up to the trophies (the top) as quickly as possible. This saves you the time to move the trophies/the missed opportunities if you forget to move them before harvesting, etc.

After that, I would personally head for the cloud rows, though I, like many others, did not do that initially. It didn't seem that worthwhile at first, particularly when I did not have the first few craft shops open, but now I wish I had opened them earlier. Like many things in this game, there is definitely no one set answer.
