The Farmer’s Anonymous semiannual Christmas bake sale and sled dog bike race is coming up VERY soon! Please note that all dogs will be tested before the race this time to make sure none of them can ride a bike. We all remember the fiasco last year when the winning team crossed the finish line without their farmer, while balanced in a perfect pyramid…. BTW – the squirrel that ran across the path in front of them during their victory dance is almost out of recovery, as are the last 37 dogs (the squirrel still wakes screaming from nightmares but only occasionally since beginning the electric jell-o shock treatments). Sadly, the tree involved did not survive – it’s name is still being withheld pending notification of nuts of kin. Also if anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of the farmer, please call local law enforcement; the case has grown cold.

Dinner will be provided by the local school lunch ladies and hospital cafeteria so needless to say it will be much better than anything served at the regular meetings. A word of caution: if you are not sure what is on your plate, do not, I repeat, DO NOT ask. Personally I find not knowing makes it much easier to choke it down. A bit of good news is we have been assured the mashed potatoes WILL be dead before serving this time, so you will not have to beat them with your spoon to make them leave the crawly things in the salad alone. (Another lesson learned from last year…)

There will be many fun games like seeing who can stand in front of a computer screen and NOT harvest; those of you required to be in straight jackets WILL be allowed to have the sleeves loosened for this event – but only IF you are a participant. Of course there will the ever popular 10-legged sack race (you have to race in a burlap potato sack with two irate cats inside – it’s especially exciting the 3rd or 4th time you step on one of their tails!) In case anyone is concerned, YES we are very sensitive to people’s feelings so there will be people to make sure no gunny sacks are hurt.

This event will also include the Junior Farmer Scouts bi-monthly cookie sale. Money from the sale will be used to send an undeserving Junior Farmer Scout and his parents to Farmerama addiction detox camp. It will be a fun filled time at an undisclosed location with no internet, Wi-Fi, phone, indoor plumbing (or outdoor plumbing for that matter), or electricity. There WILL be soda machines that take your money but do not give drinks so you can still feel like you are in civilization. There will be boating and swimming although there is no lake or any type of water. The food will be excellent, presuming you beat the buzzards to the road kill. I realize everyone will be very excited about being the winner, but please, no knocking down little old ladies or telling local law enforcement you THINK the people in front of you are smuggling Chihuahuas into the country illegally; we all know that works at Disneyland but it’s not going to work here.

In the evening there will be square waltz polka line dancing in wooden cowboy clogs (cowboy flip-flop boots will not be allowed on the dance floor) so bring your prettiest, fanciest dress - you too, ladies! Everyone is encouraged to strut their stuff so don’t worry if you have two left feet, or you were in the sack race and still can not dislodge one of the cats. Music will be by our favorite band, the “Farmville Hard Rock Punk Rap Country Philharmonic Jazz Ensemble Marching Symphony Trio Quartet”. We all look forward to their classic “Mary Had A Little Lamb” and personally I hope to hear the entire first stanza before they get run out of town. (I REALLY want to know what happens to that lamb….) I hear they have another song in their repertoire, but since they've never gotten through the first one it is only a rumor...

So be sure to clear your calendar, plant LONNGGggg crops, and hope like I do that Farmerama doesn’t have an event to conflict with this fun time! We look forward to seeing all of you there.

Do we need to bring our own cats for the sack race or will they be provided? If we bring our own, will bobcats be acceptable?

Let me ask the steering commitee. I suspect "Bring your ferrel cat to work day" may be happening that same weekend so there may be a conflict.

The pink flamingo yard decoration races will still be held this year despite the huge scandal. It was discovered that not only were doping allegations proven to be true, but someone also dressed up a yard gnome as a pink flamingo. He was of course stripped of the crown and removed from the worldwide goodwill tour, but the damage will take a very long time to repair. The first runner up has taken over all responsibilites until a new winner is crowned. (We should have realized something was amiss when the winner could not stand on one foot. Also, the extremely hairry leg should have tipped us off...)

A new event - Mother Bear With Baby Cubs Slapping/Tickling - will begin this year. Many young children have asked to sign up for this fun activity. Several divorced wives have signed their estranged deadbeat, lazy, non-alimony-paying, two-timing, dunken, husbands and their new preppy, "they're fake", half-his-age girlfriends up as tag team contestants. At least one father has signed up his daughter's new pierced & tatooed, motorcycle-riding, can't-get-a-job boyfriend. Sounds like many laughs and fun times are in store!

igotfrogs - So sorry your arthritus is also in your back & shoulders. I also used to detest going to the doctor....but now I have to go so often to one doctor or another...it's just part of my routine.:wuerg: I have started(probably a bad habit...but...) giving myself a reward of going shopping to some of my favorite stores After.... a Doctor's appt. Our internet went down for a couple of days Fri/Sat and I was A MONSTER!!! Serious withdrawal symptoms. >:(>:(:wuerg:>:(>:(Just knowing the event was ticking away without me was awful. First thing in the morning, I check my farm. Before I even ~ edit ~ (sometimes during, Beedance...TMI?). I don't have to lie to RL friends as I never make arrangements that clash with urgent Farmerama doings in the first place! Thought the game is pretty flexible most of the time, I think. I started playing whilst recovering from major surgery, so was forced to be a 'head on the bed' for a while. That was last summer. D'you think I can drag out recovery any more...? Almost worth having the lady-giblets out.. Nah, definitely worth it!!:D

Yeah, my "lady-giblets" came out last November...definitely worth the recovery time. I wish I had thought to look at the BigFish online games back then...just think of the farm I'd have now (not to mention the intervention my family would probably have scheduled by now).

Brookeham, thank you for the offer. I did adopt a couple of free kittens after I lost the one cat. Of course, "free" is a relative term. xD

(Our feline friends are wonderful but don't have the same lifespan that we do. )

Well, in my defense, I didn't know how technical we could get here...so Betty's term worked for me at the moment. I struggled for years with PCOS and so imagine my surprise when the surgeon (my ob/gyn) discovered huge cysts on my ovaries and said to my husband "no wonder she was having so many problems"). Big duh! there... so it's pretty much been wonderful to NOT have to deal with those issues and it lessened the severity of at least three other issues (ones that typically go along with/are caused by the PCOS) so that was an added bonus.

As for cats...there was one lone kitten out at the Petco yesterday - mewling up a storm. And we stopped and talked to it, but alas, there can be no kittehs here. We have the pugs and they have their very own doggie door and thus kittehs could get out that door. And since we live two blocks from the busiest street in town, that's a bad bad thing. So no kittehs. Was always partial to basement kittehs...DH and I had two many years ago. They are at the rainbow bridge now.

Oi!!! I'm YOUNG!!! Only 37 and a quarter! I thought I was being dead diplomatic as well, calling em ladygiblets.... For sewinglady, I had endometriosis since 18... 14 surgeries (including an ovary out at 20) and 2 miracle children later, finally went for the big one, only to find the remaining ove was PCO! Some luck eh? So I've been multi-patching it ever since. Anyone know how to get the leftover glue off btw...? I'm covered in black fuzzy squares!

Noooooooo! Big Fish is down. I cannot access my farm (I portal in via BF)! And of course, I activated the harvest helpers via a quest this morning... When is the next 12-step meeting?

Edited to add: Betty127 - I got some glue removal pads from the nurse at my OB/GYN's office. That nurse is worth every penny she gets paid and more (I should write a letter asking for a raise on her behalf). Anyway, that or denatured alcohol is about the only thing that gets rid of the glue. I was all black and fuzzy, too.
