ahhhh - I thought workshops were where you craft items (like Jam etc). So, to speed up egg production I need to find an item that speeds up workshops. Right?

That is correct. ;) Workshops make eggs, wool, etc. Animal housing makes animals. The Artisan's Village (available after level 40) is where you can make crafts (like jam, etc.)

and while you are here, oh wonderful Steph, do you know any way to increase the speed with which one gets banana awards on the Island? I need to increase my farming area, and it is taking forevvvvvver to get enough bananas

Hey, I'm happy to help anyone who is willing to call me wonderful! :D;)
Those golden bananas are hard to get, everyone always wants more of those. Really the best ways to level up are by filling farmhouse orders, and using craft items that give BEP (Bahama Experience Points). I don't think you can buy craft items until you reach level 40 on the main land (island levels are different). The most important thing to remember is that this is a slow (but very fun) game. The higher up you go in levels, the harder it becomes to level up. I know you're eager to unlock as much land as possible, but it definitely takes a while!

Chris, if it helps, I like to think of the animal pens as those where you raise animals and the production pens are where those animals help you make products from them. IE: you raise sheep in an animal pen but the sheep makes wool in the production pen. :)

That's true, BlackCaviar! But I think, when looking at which craft item to use, it's better to use the words "animal housing" and "workshops", because those are the words used in the craft items. What I mean is (I think) craft items say "speeds up production in animal housing" or "speeds up production in workshops". Just my opinion, though. :) I'm all about simplifying things! xD

:( I just bought a bouquet which is supposed to speed up workshop production by 10%, but the time for the eggs to be harvested has remained the same

Blackcaviar - you mean I am running my chickens and sheep in sweatshops? xD

Chris, did you use the bouquet before feeding the workshop? Craft items that speed up time have to be used before feeding the workshop or stable. If you've already given chickens and feed to the egg workshop and then used the bouquet after, it won't do anything.

You must use the bouquet before you feed the workshop for the time to be reduced.

    General rules for craft items.

Time reduction - use before feeding/planting.
Quantity increase - use before harvesting.

(FYI: Instead of creating a second post in a row, edit your first one.)

EDIT: Steph, great minds think alike and post at the same time! :) )

 where is the icon for bashing my head against a wall! - 5000 CC wasted there :(((((
Well, there is 7 hours remaining on that "buff" and 6 before the eggs are ready to collect - so will the buff affect the next "crop"?

Aww, sorry to hear about the wasted time, Chris! Yes, if you collect your eggs in 6 hours and then feed the workshop right away, the 7-hour buff should still be running and will indeed affect the next batch. So it's not a total loss!! :)

Hi Clashstrummer! You don't have to be new to the game to be confused. Some aspects here can be less than intuitive and it IS a lot more interconnected than it seems a first. I think that's part of the appeal - even with the fuzziness. Please don't feel alone - most of us are still learning as we go, and the development team is constantly bringing new-to-everyone events that keeps the game fresh.
Don't hesitate to ask! People here are great at helping especially when they've had a tough time of it in one area or another, and love helping with their experiences and "gotchas".
BTW - they ARE speaking Swahili if that makes you feel any better! ;) (I personally believe it is so they can keep me in the dark).

    The math is easy here.
For instance the question: What is the reciprocal quotient of the square root of the hypotenuse minus the side opposite?

Obviously the answer is Santa Fe.

With questions that simple you don't even have to show your work. (I of course simplified it by converting everything to Latin. The only hard part was the metric: I can never remember how many kilometers are in a liter of Celsius when facing due southeast...)
