To buy or not to buy? It would seem that we are now stuck with the 'Mill' as it is and all the complaining in the world is not going to make one single bit of difference. My strategy to date has been to mill some when not milling other feed and also to buy some when they have a sale.

In the last six months or so, more and more power feed has been required due to the numerous quests and events introduced into the game that requires breeding animals. At the same time I have noticed a steady increase in the cost of buying some of these animals. For example, when I first started playing a golden chicken was about 7 million cc's on my market. Now you are lucky if you see one on sale for less than 13 million. This would indicate to me that players are moving more towards buying animals rather than power feed.

I feel resentful over the pressure to 'up' my spending in order to participate and am quite tempted to seek 'entertainment' elsewhere, not because of the actual monetary cost, but because I feel like my intelligence is being somewhat insulted with BP's 'sneaky' approach. However, I do enjoy playing the game, and have not yet quite reached that point of 'no return'

So what is your strategy towards power feed now? Currently, I am growing crops, animals and fruit that I know will sell well, and when I have enough cc's to buy a breeding animal, that is what I do. I have completed a few of the permanent quests this way, but it is a slow process.

Any ideas and thoughts on the matter are very very welcome !! :)

    Hi Kmellish

I do complete understand how you feel about the price of Breeding Animals have gone up immensely in the Markets as they were few years ago. They was many Breeding Animals Available to buy in the markets at reasonable prices.

As I wish I brought more high level breeding animals are cheaper price back then than they are currently selling. It is partly to do with some quests asking for breeding animals such as Soups and Friends Quest or some Events asking for other breeding animals from time to time. As we seem to be asked for these more often than it use to be.

Yes There are many players who have been buying Breeding Animals. Rather using Power Feeds to hope to Breed for Good Skips Especially during Baby Boom !!! I am one of those Farmers who do buy lots of breeding animals at good prices when i see them as it does prevent me depleted my Stock of Milled Power Feeds or Power Feeds Earned from Events or Quests or Won at The Wheel.

When I do Breeding I have not been getting Good to great skips as often as i like so alternatively buy cheap breeding animals if i can to progress my breeding quests using less Power Feeds than I would. If you get by using less Power Feeds then can use the Mill to Mill Animal Feeds. But All Animal Feeds can be brought in the markets, whereas you cannot buy Power Feeds. I guess those farmers iwho have lots of CC many Millions in the Barn like me do have the luxury to use CC.

I Mostly Mill Power Feeds in my Barn not often mill animal feeds, As I do often buy lots of Animals from the Markets at good prices as Animal Feeds is getting more pricey therefore it not always effective to grow critters as i rather grow crops as i make more cc this way.

I hardly Spend any real money on Power Feeds, As I try to use them as effective as possible as i have about 2700 Power Feeds in my Barn. I Never use it to speed growing time up on any Pens. Only use them during Breeding during Baby Boom. I work at my quests to unlock as many Power Feeds as I can. This Prevents me using Real Money as Possible. Also I do not do insane amounts of Breeding using Base Animals only if it is a New Breeding Animal Event !!

I have Managed to Complete a couple of Breeding Quest this way. but is had slowed down a bit due to shortage of decent priced breeding animals in my market at the moment. So far this has been the longest gap between breeding events at the moment there quiet few breeding animals that are not available in my markets or very few of them.

In Order to Complete these Breeding Quests you have to spend more time in the Breeding Markets looking for Bargains !!!;)

The irony of BP's choice are this - PF took less time for me to mill, therefore, I could breed more, bringing me closer to goals. I would invariably run out of PF when getting so tantalisingly close to that goal, so I would buy the big PF package. Now, I know I won't get close enough to my goal to want to purchase lots of PF. Silly BP.:p

Well I'd like to say I won't be buying any more PF... but I know that I will  The breeding quests are pretty much all I have left to work on and BBD has always been a favorite of mine. I will be more picky about the events that I do requiring breeding animals though. I am getting the feeling that I am being pushed into buying more and more. I've always done a combination of milling PF and regular feed but now I will visit the market more for my food needs and mill more PF.
The quests like Castles in the Sand will remain undone and that will be hard for me as I just have to finish everything. :p
It does seem to be harder to find a good deal on breeding animals. And I know in my market finding any listing for top level animals is sometimes impossible. It has gotten to where I am afraid to list any top level animal I have because they might be asked for (Soup n Friends II) and I think others might also be doing this. My FOCD must be broken. :(
I will have to change my strategy somehow in moving forward.....How? To be figured out still :p

kmellish - Great idea for a thread! ;)
I'm with JJenks, I will keep buying pf for BBD's and I use it on long, long pink pens or very long production pens. I still haven't finished the Soup I :sleepy:...and foresee a Soup II in the future...all the other breeding animal prices have gone up almost 100k cc's in the last few weeks. I trudge through the market a few times a day...and sometimes splurge on a colored animal.
My newest strategy for getting colored animals for quests is using the wheel (party spins). Something has to be up with bats....I've won 10 red bat pens in the last month!!!o_O I only had 1 before...that I built myself eons ago.
Buying the large pack of pf...also gives me a giddy feeling of sharing with my loyal neighbors!:inlove::music:
I'm nearing level 100 on main farm....and thought I would slow down playing when I reached that goal....but....I have so many breeding quests left unfinishedo_O.....and this darn FOCD!!! I am so addicted!!!:p:wuerg:
Plus...I'm still waiting and waiting for the coral reef!-.-

I think the breeding quests are going to be of lower importance to me. I, too, used to buy loads of PF for BBD whenever I had the BBs for it, and it was one of my favorite times. Except for donkeys and chams, I think I've completed through level 7 on all animals, and up to 9 in a couple. I would breed as many as I could and hope for good skips, then sell the rest to buy the higher-level animals. (Well, that was the intention. Once I had close to 9 million CCs, it was very hard to part with them! Buy lots of buffs to level up on Baha, or a single high-level animal...I finally gave in and bough a couple high-levels, and I now feel very broke with a mere 1.1 million CCs left.:p)

With the longer milling times for PF, though, I'm done buying any. I understand that BP needs to make money and I have no problems with that. It's just the way they've been going about it has been counterproductive. It's one thing to spend money for something fun, but to be coerced into buying it ... that sheep don't bleat.
