Gift and Trade

It would be great if we were able to type in the item for which we are searching rather than having to search through 100's of pages. I know that the items are in a semi-alphabetical order, but one still has to scroll through multiple pages to look for an item that may not even be available.

and it would be a great idea for the sending gift option to have a tab to cut and paste the name of the player you would like to send the gift to instead of searching through pages of friends which keep changing as they are added.

I completely agree with Greenpaperclip - was just waiting for a feedback page for G&T to say so myself... It would be SO MUCH easier if there was a simple search function. I don't mean for specific trades, including both items - just to either search for all trades wanting item x, or all trades offering item y, if you see what I mean. I think that'd encourage trades - I know I've been put off trawling through them and haven't bothered too much. We are talking about many hundreds of trades here. Having said that, it is possible G&T is still undergoing change - I had the impression we weren't supposed to have it until June/July. It may be that BP took us seriously when we said we'd rather have it sooner, bugs/annoyances included, than later and perfect. Perhaps these things are already intended to be addressed on somebody's to-do list somewhere! It IS a very obvious issue, after all, and the benefit of the work involved would be felt in every future repeat of G&T.. Anyway, rambled on enough. I emphatically second Greenpaperclip's motion!

Completely agree too - it takes far too long to search for something which may not even be on offer. It is still a great event, loved by most farmers, so perhaps BP could consider spending more time to develop the search function please ?

 

I agree - I wonder if the new "revamped" G and T will have one?

 

I would like to see the gift and trade event last for a week. This would help those of us who only log on for an hour or two a day. That way we would have a day at least to see if anyone was interested in the item we wanted to trade and if not we could try and trade a different item to get the item we want.

 

I agree that a search function would be a great revision to the best event of the game! I would also like to see it last longer, come more often, and have more advance notice so there is time to look through inventory and make a list.

Had such a hard time looking for what I was searching for.

 

I gave up. I would like to be able to put in what I want, then a list of possible donors would come up with their wants - I could then choose a suitable match. No need to scroll down and down and down etc etc. Seems easy to me but then I am not a programmer!

I have another suggestion too. G&T did not allow us to exchange several items. Even though the item mentioned in the exchange was very much in our inventory and we had enough license, the exchange was black. I had elderberry trees, strawberry stand asked by the player. But the exchange button was dead. Several of us were affected by it and some reported it in the technical and general issues. They were told an announcement would be given as soon as the bug is solved. But the event is over now. After searching several hours, to come to a dead end is terrible for the players. What I request is that please let this not happen in future and I request the Moderators to bring this to the notice of Farmerama crew so that this may not happen in future G&T. It was a real dissapointment to me.

I thought a separate thread would be opened for G&T in Player Feedback section and I would be able to post there. But no thread was opened. So I thought I would open a thread in Players Suggestion. But seeing this thread I posted it here. Hope some Moderators see and bring it to the notice of the Team.

 

Search function, by name of item, PLEASE?!

 

Well I had a hard time searching for things then I just gave up and put my own trade in.

So I looked up the prices in the shop for trees whose fruit sold for about the same amount and then since I had more than one of some trees and non of another that I needed for the quest I just put in an offer for the one I had an extra of for the one I wanted.
Since I wasn't bargin shopping just doing a reasonable trade, someone had already wanted the exact opposite trade and was very quick and easy.
I realize this concept only works for things like trees and would be useless for deco items but I just wanted to add it for any that can use it for trees next time

 

There is a general mini events feedback thread. That is the place to post comments, though I, too, wish they had a separate G & T feedback thread.

Gift and trade is wonderful. It would be even more wonderful if you could make one small addition.. specifically, to list the quantities of the various items wanted/offered along with the item.

Sometimes people really do try and sell one apple tree for a rare pen, but sometimes it might be more like 12. The first is a scam, the second might be OK for some people. We can see this, but its too easy to click "just to see" and then wind up making the exchange, particularly for newer players who are perhaps a tad eager... (or the rest of us who might not have had our cofee yet.. lol).

Yep I totally agree with this as earlier on I made the mistake of not checking for amounts and got rid of one my trees to exchange for another only to find out just before the deal could be made that they wanted 3 of that tree and not 1 as I thought .

And I couldn't agree more greenpaperclip! I've no idea how easy or difficult it would be to implement but it would make things so much easier and quicker if we had the option to type in the exact item we were looking for or wanting to trade and the list would bring up ONLY relevant items. So if you wanted to scroll through everything then you could or you could type for example: (under item wanted) Kowhai Tree and it would bring up all offers that offered the Kowhai Tree ONLY. I personally think it would make things less of a drag as when you're looking for numerous items it can take hours scrolling through everything which gets rather boring after a while! (and speaking for myself, it also doesn't do my hands and wrists any good!)

 

I know that this is something that would help many players!

 

Count me in!

A slight modification to reduce the endless scrolling would be to enlarge the search window so that all items on that page are visible rather than scrolling down and then clicking to the next page just to do the same.
