Golly, I am quite enjoying this thread (a little too well lol!!) :p I'm not too sure if this is really a thread to help each other with our chocolate addictions...lol!

I too love Cadbury Cream Eggs, although I have not had one in a year or so. (I only buy them on special and not been focussed enough to do that lol!) Lately, I've been snacking on a large dark chocolate bar with whole hazelnuts from Aldi. (Aldi is a low-price limited-selection grocery store, but with German roots... no idea if this chocolate bar is from there... but I know some of their chocolate is!) The other thing I get from time to time is dark chocolate with chili powder. I am the only one in the house that likes it so no need to worry about it disappearing! It has the added bonus of giving me heartburn if I eat too much... so it hangs out in the house longer than the other stuff lol! I also keep my chocolate it in my desk drawer in the den. It's not a big secret where it is kept, but I sure don't advertize it lol! My MIL has her own stash in her room, so I figured it was only fair...
    ;)xD

Well, I'm only on page four of this thread, and for some strange reason, the brownies (reduced price - couldn't resist!) that made their way into my shopping cart last night are calling me. (I was really tired - they even hopped from my grocery cart onto the conveyer belt!) But it's only 6:30pm (Eastern time) here in Michigan, so if I eat some soon, then they shouldn't keep me awake all night... (I hope!)
    o_O:music:;)

Well, it helps to not read about it! (Or look at pictures of it on your computer.. or on the TV, or online when playing, or while you are at the store waiting to pay for groceries). Anything with sugar will raise your blood sugar levels and cause you to crave more suger... Even diet pop, which mimics sugar, will release insulin and trigger more cravings. You can reduce the blood sugar "high" (and resulting cravings) by eating your chocolate (and sweets) with a bit of cheese or some protein like a handful of nuts or some low-fat ham. Also eating non-carb things with fiber such as fruits and veggies with your chocolate will help with that too.
    :D

So, just how serious are you at resisting it??:pxD

So confession time again... before I got my promotion at work, I started finding myself in our staff office/lounge... not someplace I normally went, but when goodies started appearing randomly, I would randomly help them disappear! Sometimes I would bring some in too... And then as they started to appear more regularly... I adjusted my intake to the offered output. :D:music: ;) Well, that was great until my pants started to protest a bit... o_O

So when I got promoted to a different building I decided to retrain my brain! There are lots and lots of places of places (at least 10 if not more!) in the new building where kind, considerate co-workers generously display and share their love for one another in the form of chocolate...! (Gosh, it's even gift-wrapped in shiny plastic and foil and displayed in shiny glass and crystal containers!!) o_O

    Well, knowing my new job was going to be very stressful in the beginning, I did not want to start the habit of stress-eating, so I instead made a deliberate point to ignore the chocolate! (Oh dear! Will someone please revive the 3 ladies in the corner... I think they just fainted!) {{tucks a hershey kiss into each hand to help reduce the shock}}
    :music:;)

The good news is that it's working so far... I went to the doctor a month ago and I was a mere 8 pounds from my previous WW goal weight! That being said, I have also found that it's good to treat yourself sometimes so that you don't go crazy and overeat other things while trying to avoiding a strong chocolate craving! (Been there, done that!)

See's candies...I had forgotten about those. I believe they are more a west coast brand but they make something called toffeettes that are absolutely scrumptious. I bought some in LAX on a layover onetime and after opening them I wished I gotten 3 more cans of them they were so good.

Yes, they make them in Calfornia. Maybe elsewhere out west, but not in the East. You can get them online now, however.

I am a true addict at heart and if I like it, it's either all or nothing. As I mentioned in another thread, I am a chocoholic, so I really do obstain from any at all. If I don't touch it, then I'm okay. All it takes is one piece and I'm off and running. Harry and David Chocolate anything is a beautiful thing, and I often buy their truffles for my Dad and their chocolate covered pretzels for my Mother in law. My chocolate of choice is Dark Chocolate that can slowly melt in your mouth... But, as I said I don't touch them, so it's been a long while since I've had anything chocolate. Chocolate cake can be a downfall for me... it's hard to resist a moist Chocolate Cake, home made of course. My husband, knowing I love chocolate, got me an Easter Bunny for Easter one year and I put him in the frig. One day I would wake up and an ear would be missing, the next the other ear.... by the end of the week, all traces of the bunny disappeared. It is wonderful to be a chocoholic and have a spouse who loves it almost as much as you do... that way you don't really have to eat any. I am able to have it in the house for others, but it's always consumed in short time and I don't have to worry.

Molly - I have a similar situation....I love chocolate but I do better if I leave it alone. Once I get started, the only thing that stops me is that it is all gone!:pxD I don't eat it in large quantities at one time but will just have a 'nibble' or like Winnie the Pooh, " a small smackeral" but will return to it in a little while and before you know it, it is gone *sigh* I have a husband and 2 kids who will kindly eat it for me but you are much more dedicated to abstain than I am as yesterday I had some Almond M&Ms.

I can actually control myself with chocolate. Meaning I can eat a piece or two and put the rest away for later. Salty things on the other hand are a major problem. Those I abstain from completely, or at least try to. Open a bag of chips or can of nuts and I can not leave them alone until they are all gone. I will literally make myself sick eating them, so not a good thing which is why I stay away from them.

I don't have many vices left as I quit smoking years ago and due to a medical condition I can't have alcohol of any kind. I figure a little chocolate now and then as my one vice can't be all that bad. ;)

Actually chocolate is bad for a dog's heart. Enough chocolate can make it race at a dangerous rate. A little chocolate can sometimes make some dogs react as though it were X-Lax...

No idea what it does for men's brains - I doubt studies have been done as any results that indicate damage would of course make all women question how the researchers could tell. Thankfully men don't use their brains for thinking (that's been taken over by other parts), only for memorizing extremely important things like the entire 1958-1997 statistics of every major football, baseball and basketball game ever played as well as winners and standings of all NasCar races. Especially gifted men also know golf scores, hockey stats and soccer standings; anniversaries and birthdays is way more than they can handle. I even know one guy over 60 who usually knows where he left his keys.

I'm bringing an extra large batch of triple chocolate chunk cookies. I don't make them often but I think this occasion calls for them.

LOL.. I keep my stash in my locker at work, much simpler.... I work evenings, and need an occasional boost then anyway. But I get my "revenge" at holidays... stray chocolate Easter eggs tend to disappear. (also incentive to get them to pick up... lol).
