Heart moving - surprised nobody has mentioned What a Wonderful Life yet! And a sci fi heart moving one (LDC would sob at the end ;) ) Powder!
Funniest movies of all time: Airplane (of course!) John Cussak's "Better off Dead" and Jeckle and Hyde, Together Again.

One of the best for SFX and action: The Twins Effect (chinese)

Jeckle and Hyde, sounds familiar? Is that also a "Broadway" show?

OMG Chris! I love, love, love "Better off Dead". (I want my two dollars!) Not to many people know that one so I don't usually mention it. It's a Wonderful life is also a favorite along with the original Miracle on 34th St for Christmas movies. I've not seen Jeckle and Hyde will have to look for that one.

I'm a very big fan of Christopher Guest's movies: Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. So amazingly funny each and every one of them.

Best in Show and A Mighty Wind are hilarious. Best in Show is SO spot on...it's funny because I knew people just like that in the dog show world.

And yes, Better Off Dead is hilarious - one of the best of the 80's. There were a couple others in that genre, but that one seems to have aged better than the others, KWIM?

And Bygo_Chris - what? You didn't like Run Lola Run? I watched it with subtitles (my German is sooo rusty - I tried to talk to a little Hutterite girl the other day at the clinic - even she talks better German than me). But, I will say that once was enough. It was on some TV channel the other night and I stopped at it for a moment - scene where she goes into the casino. As soon as she started screaming, I changed the channel.

So the other day at lunch bunch (a bunch of friends and family and we get together and have lunch out once a week), my friend Geri made a reference to the Coneheads movie. Turns out my in-laws have never seen it! So all our Conehead jokes went right over their heads. I go home that night, and am running through the list of what's on HBO, Showtime, etc. and there it is...The Coneheads Movie. So now it's on my DVR and I just have to get my in-laws over here to watch it. I have a bad feeling they will not be impressed.

Clash, I don't think I am allowed to post links here, so go to IMBD and add title/tt0084171/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 to the end of the address ;)
SL - the other one like BOD, also with cussak, was One Crazy Summer. Not as good as BOD but funny. KWIM>>????

Sewinglady I did some community theater in my youth and "Waiting for Guffman" is so spot on it's painful.

I loved "The Sure Thing" back in the day, it's not aged as well but then again I'm not a teenager anymore either. The movie that taught a generation how to shotgun beer. LOL NOT that I'm recommending it to anyone but I don't think I knew anyone that didn't try that trick after seeing that movie.
I think the Coneheads might be an acquired taste. ;) I never saw the movie myself but I certainly watched them plenty on SNL.

Well we had a good laugh at lunch bunch over Jane Curtain's "Mrs. Conehead" and the vacuuming bit. What makes it extra funny is that my MIL is something of a clean freak... again, I'm worried they won't like it. I still can't get them to watch the Princess Bride, either. They think it's for kids.

Hello guys, it was a very busy week for me, I had to travel, and Barely managed to catch up with one movie while I was in Bahrain, I have watched the latest Marvel movie, the Avengers : Age of ultron, the truth I did not like much like the first movie, that was much better to me, but it was ok, and the effects were cool, but at points I felt bored and sleepy, anyway the end was cool, now I am home and need 2 or 3 days to relax and plan for the new movies that I saw their adds, there is a new cool movies coming this week, first is another Marvel movie, Ant man which looks very good based on the add, then a new Disney movie(not animations) by George Cloony, then there is a movie for Dwaine Johnson (the rock) which is about an earthquake were he had to rescue his daughter, and the long awaited movie Batman Versus Superman, just a few days and I would be back to tell you about these, now my mind is still spinning from my trip so I can't remember the names of some movies, and I will share you about my trip soon but have to find the appropriate thread for that.

Not a movie, but I am currently watching Father Brown - a charming detective series set in 1950s England, with the eponymous priest doing the investigating :) (staring the chap who played Mr Weasley in the HP films)

I haven't seen the newest Marvel-ous movie, but I want to. The ones before were pretty good.

The most current movie I have seen was the remake of Annie.

I'm a binge watcher! There, I admitted it. I get stuck in a black hole on Netflix and Youtube all of the time!! "Who's that actor/actress?" I'll ask myself and then IMDB them. Or, "I really liked that TV series, who all was in it and what else were they in?"...IMDB. And, "That director had cojones! What else did he/she work on?"...IMDB. So, I like a very large number of movies and shows.

My most favorite movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz. Want some trivia, I know it. Want some lines? I can recite them! Wanna hear someone sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow? Go ask someone else!! xDxDxD I even have seen the other Oz themed movies multiple times, with the best of them having to be Return to Oz...the Queen who changes heads still creeps me out at thirty....something years old!! (It has been called the creepiest Disney movie ever made) I've gotten into some of the better sequel based movies like Twilight and The Hunger Games too!

My favorite actors and actresses in no particular order are, James McAvoy, Jason Momoa:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:, Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee, Jennifer Aniston, Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris, Robert Pattinson (Don't judge me! LOL), Jennifer Lawrence, Sean Connery, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Meryl Streep, Bette Davis, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Sophia Loren, Greta Garbo, Diane Keaton, Dustin Hoffman, Anthony Hopkins, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Sandra Bullock, Carey Grant, James Franco.....I could go on all night!

Since we are mixing it up here, my favorite TV shows have been Bones, Reign, Game of Thrones, Army Wives, House, Scandal, The Sopranos, Weeds, Oz (SO VERY NOT related to the movie! LOL), Dexter, Deadwood, Peaky Blinders, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Downton Abbey, anything and everything Gordon Ramsey does (he's my celebrity chef mentor! One day he will eat in my home and like that....stuff!!! LOL), Sons of Anarchy, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, The Office!!!, Hogan's Heroes, Hee Haw, M*A*S*H, Psych, Criminal Minds, Law & Order, Marco Polo, Married with Children, Burn Notice, NCIS, How it's Made, Good Eats, ....I'm going down that black hole again!!!

I worked for a major satellite TV company for some years after I left the Army, so they provided the employees with their service and premium channels, so that we'd be current and have something to fill the lulls in tech support conversations with what to watch. Needless to say I took my job seriously. LOL Now, my husband is home for 4 months out of the year. When he gets here we dig into a season of something, invite the kids in our room, and spend our time bingeing on one series or another while we crowd the bed and just be together. Other times, we have been blessed enough to make me a stay at home Mom and I watch whatever the kids are watching (they range in age from 9-23). I don't sit in front of the TV all of the time, even though it appears that way! But, in our house, there is ALMOST always one on!xD

This is incredible, labmommmy but with the exception of Marilyn, Chuck Norris, and Ms Theron, you named all of my favorites:D Worth a second mention of course is Mr Momoa ~ I recorded the season of Red Road, and have been catching up today!
Can't wait to see the new Marvel Movie though, and as always we (husband likes Iron man as much as I like Thor and Lokie) we always buy them just to have them. Who knows I may "marathon" them too while Im on holiday, waiting for crops to harvest! We spent last weekend watching the Twilight series! (Loved the Lord of the Rings even more!) wow, you can really get carried off on this subject :D I haven't even gotten started on my PBS/BBC addiction....

Girl!!! LOL, I am a tall, naturally thin brunette with brown eyes. I think Charlize Theron is the most beautiful woman! (Complete opposite of me with that perfect complexion, blue eyes and blonde hair) She just has a classic beauty about her, and that transformation she did for her movie "Monster"!!! Check it out! I can't wait to see her in the Mad Max reboot. (I've always wondered if I had what it takes to shave my head and start all over! My hair is to my waist)My service dog is a Blue Heeler, and one was featured in the original, I keep saying that I need to see the next to see if my genius dog is in this one too! :D

Red Road is fantastic!! (Won't speak on it so there aren't any spoilers!) I put Chuck Norris in my favorites because he was my Mama's heartthrob growing up and I saw EVERYTHING. Jason Momoa is mine, he's just :inlove::p:inlove::p!!! I had already been a fan, and then he was that barbarian dude on Game of Thrones for a, VERY SADLY, short time!!! He just made me want to see him more! LOL

We own so many DVDs and BluRays that I can't even give you a number! They are in books, they are in boxes, they are on library shelves!! I'm a Marvel fan from way back and have the comics (the actual books) to prove it! I loved the choices for the players in the movies for sure.

The Hubs is a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan! The Twilight series and LOTR are truly played out here! They do make great stand ins when there isn't much on the docket to watch. He is also a true Kung Fu buff. Like, take the absolute worst acting and combine it with the worst ever dubbing or subtitles and it is a winner in his book! In other words, the worst Kung Fu for you or I is the BEST for him!:wuerg:xD I've seen more than my fair share. You should see our Netflix suggestions! They vary so greatly that you'd wonder how we ever watch the same things at the same time!
I can totally get carried away! I have a mental condition that makes it very complicated to get out of the house without it becoming a huge production, I deal. I wouldn't say that I am a recluse, but I do so love to stay in!! So, I take my TV time seriously. (I really do limit it) My family and I have adapted to these problems and we are quite happy to enjoy a few movies or a season of a show to pass the time while preparing for a trip to the local grocery (it's a chore for me to get into the car).
PBS, BBC!!!, some of the best TV ever written! And then there is the unwritten, like Antiques Roadshow! (I was on an episode, so if you are religious about viewing it you have seen me)LOL

Lily22, if you ever wonder about a movie or a show and need an opinion, I'm your gal!!! But, it's a safe bet, if Jason is even in a cameo spot....it's a winner!

Last Saturday I took my family and we watched Tomorrows World, for George Clooney, it is a Disney Movie but it was really nice, even it was not on 3D but we watched it on a new type of screen with amazing effects, then I saw alone Mad Max on 3D, I think it was a waste of time for me, I did not enjoy it at all, still prefer the old version by Mil Gibson, and last Wednesday I watched San Andreas also on 3D, and it was awesome, it is about earthquakes, and the effects are the real hero of the Movie, and I just saw a promo for the new Jurassic Park, it is coming soon, and there is some scenes that made me open my mouth, I think it is going to be really good, I have watched al the previous Jurassic Parks, this one is completely difference.

This is good to know. I want to see TomorrowLand...but my summer gets so busy, I seldom get to the theater so wind up waiting for it to come on HBO or Showtime. Not perfect, but at least I eventually get to see them. Funny how the title translates to different things in different languages - yet I knew exactly which movie you had taken the family to see.

I love Danny Kaye! The original "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" is one of my all time favorite movies. I was so distressed when they did a remake of it. Worst remakes of all time now that would be a great list. Topping mine would be "The Pink Panther" followed closely by "Psycho".

Topping mine of worst remakes would be The Italian Job - the original was brilliant, a classic and should never have been allowed to be touched!

Worst - don't forget Harvey! (Jimmy Stewart would be rolling in his grave)

They remade Harvey? I think I must have blocked that from my mind as I simply cannot imagine that. (shudders)

I will add "Sleuth" and "Alfie" to that list of bad remakes, goes with the Michael Caine theme from "The Italian Job". The original Sleuth is brilliant I simply can't understand what they hoped to improve upon with a remake.

As for Alfie well the original was a movie of it's time and viewed in that light it's a good movie and more importantly it was Michael Caines movie debut. Updating it however is a ridiculous idea as the central character is really unlikable and the social mores have completely changed. Just a disaster.

I will add a remake that I actually liked better than the original and that is "Ocean's Eleven". I'm not a big Sinatra fan though but all in all the second movie had a better script and was certainly better acted than the first.
