Where I come from...it was callled 'Pop' then 'Soda'...LOL! Hence the name Sodapop!
Yes we all know that Y'all means You all...I was corrected by a southern tongue, if you want to add more people then, you say "All ya all"

I will admit I have a pretty heavy Texas accent but I've lived here all my life so that's not to surprising. Matthew McConaughey would be the best example of a true Texas accent, just that slow drawl. DBayes I would just say "all y'all" as in "Do all y'all want ice cream"? I wouldn't add in that extra "a", but your friend might have been from a different part of the South.

I have to admit I have the true Southern accent...and we use Y'all and gonna. My hubby has it so much worse and travels for work, he comes home complaining that people just can't understand him xD
Picture of my home town...see my house :p

I'm from Montana. Living in Great Falls, Montana. DH was Navy so I spent over 20 years on Whidbey Island (north of Seattle), Washington state. But we moved back to our 'home town' of Great Falls just about 9 years ago. (next month, June 11 to be exact).

I'll have to see if I can find a good picture of Great Falls...

In the meantime, about accents. Ours is odd. I never thought I had an accent, but apparently I do - from my Swedish/Norwegian/German roots. We say things like "Uffda" when we're tired and plop in a chair. If you've ever seen the movie or TV show Fargo - that is the way some of us talk. Some of us don't have an accent quite that strong (I'd be included in that bunch having been away for so long). Ya sure, you betcha!

JJ - beautiful place where you live! Those beaches are to die for. Very jelly!

labmommy - not a clue where that might be but it looks very nice. (That's one wide street in the first picture - OMG I could never drive down one of those; one lane I'm perfect, 2 I'm wary, 3 I'm cautious, 4 or more and I'm ~edit~!

hatzeva, the first picture is the "big" downtown area where I was born. It's a small place, with the largest census counting just over 12,000 people. Surprisingly, everyone knows everyone and you really get the feeling that you are welcome no matter who you are! I always joked that you might as well have a hand always waving because every single car you pass will wave to you! They had to make that road that way years ago to make room for the people backing out of the street side parking. It's REALLY not for the traffic! You'd get along just fine! And if you felt like you weren't getting along fine, about 10 people would be helping you out!!

I remember once, when I was about 21 or so, I got stopped by a police man. I didn't realize that what I had just done was wrong. I told him so, and he said (I SWEAR) "Well, Heather, I'm not gonna give you a ticket this time, but I am gonna tell your Daddy to have a talk with you!" And you know what!? He did!! LOL

Some photos of the farm. This is the main property but I've shot around the house for obvious reasons. The last photo is of what we would call the "kitchen garden" meaning it's to grow food for us to eat. Normally it would be in the ground but we have had so much rain that we had to get inventive and build above ground planters.
