Daisy, it's hard to tell yet as I have no means of weighing her but it doesn't look as if she is losing any more weight and he is eating more solids - so fingers crossed...
And here's a picture of Lotte's little antler bubs. :)

That sounds like an improvement. Hope she gets back on track soon. The picture of Lotte's antler buds is the best one of that feature so far! You can really see them coming along. :)

Thank you for sharing more lovely photos of the babies! I hope Hector's mom is doing better.

Lotte is 2 weeks older than Hector - he's 3 weeks today but she was a tiny wee calf at birth, so they are almost on a par with development.

Had another lovely day today. Hector's mother is very tame (Katya) so he has trusted me for quite a while, but Lotte's mother is a little less tame but today Lotte let me stroke her :) Happy me.
I need to catch them both in the next few days for their first worming so it is better that they trust me and will therefore be less stressed..
Today's photo 14/6 and growing really well

Oh my that was cute. My kids went nuts over it. They've never seen a baby nor one that "plays" football. Thanks for sharing!

    Labmommy - that's cheating!!! :)

Just an insight from today - the babies are getting more independent. They've found a "hang Out" away from mother's. Good news for me is that they'll be ready to visit the children at Christmas - but then all my reindeer self load.... Have to lead the ones out that are meant to be on a rest day!

When I was in the Army we'd say that it's not cheating! It's using all of the available resources to my advantage! ;) So now it's self loading Hector AND Lotte!

It's Hector's 4 week birthday today... Had wonderful (animal) friends round today, who could help me weigh and worm the babies (never enough hands to do some things by myself). Weighing is in a lamb harness and hanging weighing scales... the harness just doesn't work for reindeer babies (can't even work out why!!???) they fall out both forwards and backwards!!! Anyway, bless Hector, he not only put up with strangers hanging him in the air and toppling out, then a syringe of horribleness forced down his throat. Once released he stood beside strangers to eat his special browse I had collected (willow, hazel, birch and rosebay willow herb (US- Fireweed). Then I went back for evening feed and he quite happily let me try an alpacs cria head collar on him... still a little big BUT he did look so handsome in it... Next week it will fit as he is growing so fast

Blue halter and Pink nose! (Have you considered some type of sunscreen for his nose? Would hate to see it get burned. I know horses sometimes have issues with that.)

    :)

Caviar, he gets sunscreen on his little nose on sunny days - he doesn't like it though. They have a very good sense of smell and he usually starts sneezing when I apply it. :) Just like a toddler having a tantrum!

Hopefully he will learn to tolerate it. I know they make masks for horses but I can see a number of difficulties in that for reindeer. Size for one, antler nubs/antlers and the rubbing of same for the second. Maybe he will learn to stay in the trailer when the sun is out?

    :)
