As with any quest for me I see it as a this thing down and done not what I get.

Myself, I use the no thinking/run with shinny things approach.
I like the idea of finishing quests, right now, the tab "finished quests" is not all that, mine is less than anything right now so I want it fuller.
Is it worth it? CC worthy? Best bang for the time? not really part of my game plan.
For this quest I asked myself, can I buy what I lack, make the money back 2x, and do it all?
That was about all I cared about from my end, not big not all that but for me a 1st do goal.

The trees, that made it juicy like kind of bonus for me, the doing it was my goal. And having a BBD as part well that just made it more of a challenge! I had not done any of the cuckoo quests well I did now lol, and finished up a lot of areas all in one.

Then another area was taken to center stage for me and it became happy, happy bring it on time, I now got bats and yeah pigs coming to me free like, life is good on the farm <grins>

Everyone does these quest different, math savvy farmers take it to the boards and can tell ya this quest is only worth doing 68% of the way as you figure in the CC/time/growth time/market value/depreciation on need by the square root of RL time and the electric cost of running the PC.

Others do it by market only, if it sells it is worth it other than that why have it around?
And yet others play to get the goodies and all done.
Me? I do as said, whatever cause I am on now, or if I see a sparkle or something shinny, and go with it even if it costs me CC's as long as I have fun.
Will I change? yes with every tide. Will I ever care? yes, when I have a farm worth caring about. Right now, I am still building it so playing hookie really, right now I can take a day and grow just carrots why? cause they glow like, looks nice as a reason to do it.

Have fun on the farm, find your happy whatever way leads to it, I know I do.

<side note and rub, rub> Thank-you math minds, for sharin and carin with those like me that are less than fresh.

    Keltic,
Thanks for the laugh your description of the math involved really made me LOL. So true and bless them for doing it cause math makes my brain hurt. :p

I did exactly as much as I wanted which was to get 6 trees, 3 upgrades for each and the dartboard at the end. I did make CC's out of it and I did not want to spend them on riding lessons and paint pallets however my true reason was I had different goals for the BBD. The event itself didn't interest me all that much. I got both of my other goals complete and that was to finish the magic stalk quest and open up the cloud rows which I needed to breed bats for and to complete the "covert cuckoo's" quest.

So I had a great time and thought the whole thing super fun even without completing the "main" event. To each their own. :)

    Ummmmm,

Well 1st I send a smile as you done gots your happy from the event, that is the only win in my book.

I have to clarify, you say you had to get the magic stalk to open the the cloud row to breed bats.
I am all colours of confused, stop laughing... I know this is not all that hard to do:p
But what I can get from this, you are opening the whole bean stalk or a bean stick for one cloud row? As the stalk itself opens the clouds, and the only bean stick I know of is the reduce MM crop time I'm going for this one but to my knowledge you need to finish Jack's Back to get that.
Bat/crow breeding is gotten during MM by growing crops and buying threw Jack's shop I know this I just got them last MM.
The only bat's and the pig.. not so important not bat related8) is gotten with stars from star eating tree, I just got as from your words and really super farmer's tellin me where, I thought I missed a bat thing only to find out I missed a bat thing! <got them now> and the rows for them are gotten from the 1 in 5 rune step.
Are you talking a bat thing I don't know about? I must know, I know this is a tad off topic but I can't miss a bat thing it's a law really!
And covert cuckoo's, you have me really lost, I got it all done up to needing 2 Punkoo's, and I saw no bat's. If bats are gotten in a way I have not read on please pass the info this way, you may not know... I like bats a little, and really need all ways to them!!!!

Hey Keltic, how are ya doing neighbor?? You need the hungry bats and flaming steer to open the beanstalk.

    Sorry for the confusion Keltic.

I opened bat breeding during the last MM. I then waited until this BBD to breed bats to get the 3 hungry bats I needed to complete the magic beanstalk quest and in turn open up my cloud rows. I already had the 3 wild boars and the flaming steer I was just awaiting the bats.

The "covert cuckoos" has absolutely nothing to do with bats it was simply the other quest I wanted to tackle during this BBD. So two objectives: 1. breed 3 hungry bats 2. breed cuckoos for quest

Didn't mean to confuse you. ;)

    Clashstrummer,
    Ahhh,
Ok, thought I missed another bat thing, last one I missed got it now thanks to you and Sillyguy and Mir85, I love the quests and the personal growth over time, so many things change per round, all things here for me start with MM lol, and it just seems what was set in stone last month changes altogether this month, all things that were out of reach become such a small thing this month.
I like the changes and new strategies you try as you overcome your hurdles.

To bad the quests didn't came in 3's, sort of come and do your group, all 3 open to all but geared to the 3 levels, Beginners like feed the bats, middle you gots stuff but not enough of anything yet, and the one for seasoned players come run with the big dogs, and make em use the stalls they got on like timed events in everything lol, really make em slam the farm items, like, to play you would need two fields of one type of stalls just to meet the numbers by the time clock, oh well just a run by thought, I get them, best to just let it run by....

    labmommy30,

    Hi!!!
Great to see ya, nice day on the farm that it is. Yeah, I didn't understand that the kitty, kitty had the patience to wait and do the quest the less painful way, myself picked the whine over the CC's spent, groan and moan over the rare animals wanted and get saved a bull by a kind farmer that had to point/tell/draw a map to the bull on that tree rune.

I got it opened long ago <month and change lol> and it still hurts in the ..CC's to think of the cost:cry:oh, the pain!<especially now that having the bats open I got hungry's a lot of hungry bat's for free >
-.-Leave it to a cat to use the patience card-.-

gratz clash on the cloud rows, will be a nice boost to ep all around plus the goodies. i stocked up on 1x2 last half bb day plus a couple mummies. soon i will use stars to purchase some more rows. not enough bb to buy the extra ep rows though.

Thanks for the info :) I began the event with about 250K cc, and spend nearly all of it - so much so I had to stop watering my crops! So, now after selling the surplus turkeys, goats, pallets and rodeos, I have nearly twice what I began with :D What a great event!

i struggle with this every day. i need goals to keep me interested in coming back everyday. i just havnt found a way to do it without the market-.-. at the beginning every cc i had was buying items for fsq. to date 23 fsq completed plus 2 levs of bakery.
now i have given up on artisan village:cry:, still only have the bakery and havnt baked anything in weeks. i spent everything i had to open beanstalk when i was around lv50, and then it sat empty for weeks cause i had nothing to put into it>:(. this is when i started to stop and think about what i was doing.

fsq i have open now require items that are many levels ahead of where i now sit. to get the ep needed will take weeks, months if not years and im only lv77. i have now started buying 30k-50k bep everyday;), together with all the baha points from recent cloud rows i am now 8 bananas away from opening field 4 statue 8).

going through fsq looking at how many i can finish but holding off is killing me. im trying to find that balance between the market and growing everything myself but it gets very hard. too many aspects of the game that i do not take part in cause they will only slow me down. stockpiling tools cause most workshops or upgraded stables will only slow you down:sleepy:.

i think the game needs balancing and maybe someday bp will finally do something to fix the market. there seems to be a huge hurdle around lv 79-80 which so many players fail to get over. have lost so many neighbours between lv75 and lv80.

im glad you have found your balance with the game. keep on farming:)

    Hi,
Well as you have likely read, I do things a bit sideways and backwards, I will join other "types here, there and under there" to make a journey different, do things in a stick your hand in the jar and do whatever the job is while balancing a book on your head. Why a book? cause yesterday you had no book.:p

I have read you before, and you like market, or at least selling, why? not matter, you find it interesting, Me and my market have an understanding, I am lacking and it takes my 10%. I stayed away from market for a bit, read the forums more and now we are at least ignoring each other when in the same room. Why don't you play with the mill. club? make a mill by selling only animals/breeding/crops/flowers/beans even, race yourself with a goal, fail and do a job in house that you been putting off, my basement is so clean the spiders moved out.8)

Why did you stop with artisan crafts? I am also level 78, oddly in both island and main, and I stopped because I am going after all the levels of the rune that gives you more % points, it can go up to 20% more don't quote me as to the amount, but everything you make or use gives you more, when I finish all of them I will also have everything open, and crossed fingers level 4 at least in all, but alchemist, I don't understand it enough so leaving it alone.

Do you have them runes open? Why not spa? red punch boost BEP a lot, I will be making that as soon as I get the % up. As I wait for me to get this done I am growing Bromeliad as it is needed in the punch, I grow it as much as I can and at the same time raise parrots that I will be clubbing over the head to feed the LL trophy gwads so I can get to 30/30.

Me, I try different ways of doing things, my mentor can tell ya that poor mentor, I hit the ground at 213miles an hour and crashed bad. Mentor had to bail me out and give me a 10 speed as my game car was totaled.

I learn't and I am told quickly got here, I don't find the game boring at all, I can only get bored when I stop trying things, one day:music:I will play with the math brains here, -.-stop laughing I hear you's, and be able to set forth a formula that involves the math stuff and the saving of time here, xD yeah, and I will get into coral reef before anyone here, anyway goals to me are the keys to everything, I have a lot of fun here, don't get me wrong, I am lacking in a lot of areas I get lost, confused and frustrated but go to the forums and ask, I have yet to find a mean player, all help here.

hey keltic, lv78 in both and you dont play with the market? amazing how fast you have leveled up. great job.

the mill, 90% of the time my mill is producing powerfeed, i dont have many fsq left that give me pf and i dont buy it. i believe thats 160pf with mill going 100% of the time for me.

red punch, on my market it will cost around 10,500cc to make. i buy it between 10,000-11,000 on my market so i dont bother making it, not that i have it open lol. i also buy langos for bep. bromeliad, on that same 2x2 plot you can grow a parrot in roughly the same time, sell the parrot and have 2x the amount of bromeliad you would have grown if not more.

    parrots, @ 900cc average price for 264 points=3.4cc/point ( factor in 10% juice and it becomes 3cc/point)
    cuckoo, @200cc( fluctuate wildly) for 153 points=1.3cc/point
    moose, @1000cc for 440 points= 2.3cc/point
    dog, @650cc for 450 points=1.4cc/point
i would rather sell the parrots and buy other animals that would give me more points.

mentor? whats that? never had one, not even a wife
im not bored either just getting lazy. i just dont give the farm the attention i used too and its showing in my ep.
keep up the great work youre doing keltic, you dont fool me;), you have a firm grasp of the game.

The market...ooh I am such a 'wheeler-dealer' I can't help myself - always selling and always bargain hunting.

I finished this baby turkey/goat quest on Sunday. I didn't spend a lot at the market - I filled one field with goats and turkeys, rodeo ranches and paint factories.

THEN, during Renzo's fair, I got that third trade opened - which for me was the florist. So I leveled up to Florist 2 quickly on account of having a bunch of bouquets that gave florist EP. That's when I discovered why paint palettes are so expensive on my market all the time! You need paint palettes to make those pots! So now I can see that I will be constantly breeding turkeys and making paint palettes...maybe not so much to use myself but for selling (back to wheeler-dealering).

DH gets upset with me if I 'wheeler-dealer' too much on Saturdays at the market in real life. I just can't help it. The market is going very well for us this year. I just need more time to sew. Actually a clone would be excellent. Time to get to work. Heavy sigh.

xDI like you, you gonna be my bestest friend, <notes convo down to point to later when I mess up>
That's why I don't understand market, I had no idea what to do when I came so grew crops, a lot of crops, and leveling up is fast like, just growing crops I leveled up a good 20 levels, and even now I only sell chickens <another farmer said fast money makers he was right!> and oh yeah, grow crops and I level up.

My market is weird, you put something up like a mustang and one farmer the names for areas are usually the same, and 1-5 pages will pop up cutting you by 1 cc, all my stuff comes back as 4 pages usually takes a week to get bought up and oh lookie my fav. note your item has been returned to your barn they should add thanks for the 10% you failed.

I got it down to sticking in one thing other than chickens when demand high, for now me and chicken and the poo will plug along.

Tell me about it, I figured anyone would be happy to go for the wedding thing, points given and all, I offered and the thread went ghost town:( talk about being told go away, far, far away.......

I like your math, but I still can't do it, I look to the worth in the barn x's it by cc and my numbers are so not close to anything, :sleepy: I just don't get it.

My market way is to sell chickens at 25 for 280cc, 50 at 260cc them my forever prices, I offer both at the same time, they sell, I try to "play"the market make my prices a little lower than the last one and I lose.
I know I must be losing big time but my chickens sell right away.

Tell me about it. I do crochet, and there never be enough time to do all the projects, right now time is cut yet again, I do throw rugs and 3/4 coats, but it's that time of the year when my rugs get put up and the Amigurumi animals come out to be made, I belong to a few groups that donate 25 items a year to both shelters to add to home baskets and to the lawyers for fair treatment of animals, they sell them to help with court costs and supplies to fight for changing laws for animals. xmas is not that far off.

I like doing the rugs, 3 foot by 5 foot ones and I do double layer, bottom thermal stitch and the top any I am learning, just did bathroom ones in alligator stitch and kitchen ones with the basket weave, works well I didn't think the basket weave would hold up to traffic but they do, will be making more for gifts, people love but refuse to toss em after a year, I can't figure this out, the rugs are heavy big time, they only way to clean is like horse blankets and they pay the costs to laundered and keep them, I told then I will make more but they still keep, go figure.

There's a new vendor at our market and she's making crocheted "rag" rugs. They are nice and thick. I bet she'll do very well with them.

I love to crochet, but don't get a lot of time to do it, either. Usually just if I'm watching TV - something I seldom do in the summer.

Now as for the market and the undercutting...there are strategies for this...sometimes I am the undercutter - but never by one CC - If I put something up at a lower price, it's enough lower that it generally doesn't last long. First off - don't go by what the little meter says on your sale pop up (the slidey bar at the top). Look at the actual price things are going for before you go to list something for sale. Then you have to decide - do I want a quick sale - then undercut the lowest price by enough that it's such a bargain no one can resist it (for instance, I often list Amherstia at 3000 if the lowest price is in the 3300 to 3500 range). Or, do you have the time to wait until yours becomes the lowest price or someone is buying them all up to finish a quest? If you can do that, list at the price you want to get and wait. I did this the other day with another tree fruit - listed it at 5000 and there were soon offers lower than mine...so I waited it out. Two days later someone wanted ALL the Baobabs so mine sold at 5000 per). The other trick is figuring out when to offer ONE and when to offer a lot. I've been doing small to medium lots (say 5 to 50 depending on my quantity on hand) and doing very well with that - even if it's higher priced tree fruit.

Oh yeah - breeding animals are the hardest things to sell at the market. I've had them go unsold and returned to stock after a week - even if they were a low price. So I'm still working out a good pricing strategy for breeding animals.

With breeding animals, it's a timing thing. Not an easy thing to do.

BTW: Baobabs are a needed item in the new quest going live tomorrow. Price accordingly.
