Too bad the Demo movie only shows a "Fantastic" catch... Would like to see what a "Nice" catch shows and how to be more like the former and not the latter.

I like fishing, fishing mini games are my favorites, and this event looks nice and the rewards are great, the only thing I have on this event that luck is a major factor here, and in every step, since it is involved in every step of the process, luck to get the timing wright to catch a fish, luck to get a good fish and luck to get the rewards we are aiming at, and over all, the items needed for the cloud row depends on luck, I am afraid since I am not a lucky person, that I will waste a lot of materials and end up with a greyed cloud row, or just get a lot of the normal items and the unwanted items like the turbo mulch while the other interesting items eludes me because of luck, and that happened before with the Easter event and the special MMM event, I should wait the event to start then try my luck, may be this time it would be different, then I would be back with my real feed back.

This event is different, but it depends on how lucky you are, and I think that is wrong, doing the same things, the reward would be different from person to person. :sleepy:

From the outset, I like the fact that the stickers are an "extra" prize, in addition to other items. I am one of those that don't consider them much of a reward. I am not sure about having to win the cloud row items, with no real guarantee. Most of us have several empty cloud rows already that we cannot fill. I would like some sort of guarantee. I have a faint hope that the algorythm will somewhat favor winning one of each giver, but only a faint hope. (after winning one, then back to the normal algorythm, perhaps slightly weighted against new givers)

Have to agree with woody, the CR items makes me a bit sad, I already have a gray cloud row, I can just imagine what 6 months will bring.
But the idea of a fishing game is nice, a change is always good.

    After playing a bit.

I like the game. I can see this being an off shot area to play, makes needing things a balance on the farm, not all one item more active in rotation of farm items, stalls, crops, even add workshops makes a really nice farm and play.
Having this as a not field blocking game makes it a nice add to for the game, keeps the interest in just like a farm, work all week, go play on the weekend.

The sticker I have been asked about so more words. I think the sticker really should be auto given. You need to finish the game or get the main goal to get it, not as a "prize" A prize to me should be a goodie, a bunch of items or a add-on not a sticker, the sticker is just a mark to say I was here. I have mine as I won them, and the ones I got as a "prize" but failed at the event in the back of the book as a reminder I FAILED at ....
and to have as a golden fish prize that is just wrong the top. goal, the best level to get that gold fish I expect a goodie a yum yummy but to get a sticker? ummmm so glad I saved up my machine parts for that one.

The drops rate really should be worked on, but others have said it better than I can, if yeah fix that I think this really would have been one of the better games I have played so far.

I would vote for this to be kept as an add-on to the main game, even change it up per week feathers for stalls next week feathers for crops and so on....

I like the idea of a new game for us to try. I will reserve judgment about the actual event until after it starts. So far...I like that the machine drop will be increased during the event and will be included on the island. I like the 2 options of normal and premium lures but am worried about the 'chance' factor. I like events that I can plan my strategy and time to achieve certain levels and associated prizes. While I like the prize pools, I am worried that the lesser prizes of turbo mulch and super grow will have the greatest odds leaving it difficult for players to get a complete cloud row. I would be really frustrated and upset if I were not able to fill my cloud row only because of random chances rather than due to something I needed to improve upon. It is the very same feeling when I look at my flower cloud row and see the missing groovy daisy that I cannot win on the Farmwheel even though I have not only used tickets awarded through quests but also purchased and have tried for months. It would have been different if we had been allowed to trade them in G/T. There is no guarantee that these EP givers in the Fishing game will be able to be traded.

What I already do not like about this event is that there is no clarification regarding workshops. They were not included, then they were and now nobody is sure. Different forums are reporting different things. This should have been identified prior to the FAQ being released or, at the very least, soon after. Now we are left uncertain how to best prepare for the event and it is a well known practice that players like to set up their farms for the best possible initial harvest to maximize drops.

That being said...let the fishing begin!

Already concerned about the drop rate on the lure feathers from stables. Overnight got 7 of these to 77 of the worms - very unbalanced, looks like a ploy to force gold use to play the game. Harvested two more stables just now that are 9h maturities - ZERO lure feathers.

I love the concept and I've been looking forward to this all week but my first impression is that Gone Fishin' just isn't working! It has nothing to do with skill it's all about chance.
I tried 1 normal lure as a test and 3 pro lure - All 4 tries landed the rings EXACTLY on top of each other to make one large ring glowing as bright as can be, all 4 gave me only a "Bass" even though the rings were perfect.

The tool drops are increased as we were told they would be but the other drops should be considered pitiful.
Not impressed with the final outcome of the game, it needs some work.

I like the fact that this event doesn't have an event crop. We have an advantage both ways by planting crops we need to finish in our farmer's society quest and also get drop items for this event. We should do something like this more often!

The only problem, as minicake has said, the prize is based on chance.

Oh! And I like that winking fish as well ;)

I also like that the event requires no event crop, it's a nice change of pace. The concept is great, I love the graphics and I think this has the potential for being a really fun event. However, there are problems with it, in my opinion. I had out mostly mid to high level stables, and got very few feathers for my effort. Gummies aren't dropping well either, in my experience anyway. The only drops that seem to be reasonably plentiful are machine parts. I also have a real problem with using what few feathers I did get on my alt farm to make 2 regular and 1 premium lure, getting all 3 exactly on target, and getting 2 bass and a minnow>:(. That's plain not right. A perfect catch should not result in a minnow, or a bass for that matter-.-. That makes me wonder why I should even bother investing more machine parts if the returns are going to be so miserly. This is the first event I'm truly disappointed in, which is sad, because I was really looking forward to it. Hopefully drops of gummies and feathers will pick up quickly, because for now, I'm not impressed.:(

The mini-game makes no sense to me. I've tried 5 times using both kinds of lures and I've had quite abysmal results that quite frankly confuses me. I've hit the target right on three times, and I mean RIGHT ON, the rings were perfectly aligned. Result: 3 minnows. Then I messed up and let go of the button early/late/whenever and the rings did not align. Result: Fantastic! Rainbow trout! Made another mismatch, even worse than the first and I got a Bass. HOW DOES THIS EVEN MAKE SENSE?! Am I supposed to hit the button after the rings are aligned? Before? When? Is it random?

I'm also unsure that having different drops from crops and animal stables is a good idea, I had two fields of crops and two fields of animals overnight, and I ended up with maybe half the number of feathers than worms.

I like the event as a whole (or would if the mini-game made any sense), it's nice to get new types of events. My problem is that due to the difference in drop rates and the randomness of the mini-game, I doubt I'll be getting any of the valuable prizes. And I don't feel like I can do much about it by working hard as there is too much chance and luck involved.

I'm just treating this like a bit of fun

I've got the sticker and some mystery trees already which I'm pleased with.

I don't expect to get the cloud row or ep givers, but if I do, it'll be a nice bonus.

As much as I looked forward to this event, my initial impressions aren't that great. As others have already said, the drop rate for the feather lures is too low and out of proportion to the gummies and your prize is random, rather than based on skill. (I just tried one and deliberately messed it up and it gave me a golden trout. o_O)

I hope there will be a chance to get the givers needed for the cloud row at a later time, because I don't see how it's going to be possible to win them all. Your results are pure chance, and you need multiple of the lower level fish to get a single prize - and it may not be the giver you need. That's really hard when it's so hard to make the bait due to the shortage of feathers. I can't imagine too many people wasting PF on stables to get more feather lures to take a random chance on possibly getting a fish that might possibly give you what you need for the cloud row.

The idea was fine, it's just the execution needs some tweaking. It's nice to have an event without any particular requirements for crops/animals.The bear and fish graphics are cute. The event mechanics itself would be better if it was based on skill rather than luck, but it's still a good mini-game.

Quote from the FAQ for this event says: Both lure types give you the chances to get any of the 4 fish. Of course, the chance of getting a better fish is higher with the more perfect your catch is. However, this does not seem to be the case. People who have aligned the rings perfectly are not getting the better fish. Something is not right!

I have to agree with the other posters who say the lining up the circles doesn't work. It seems that the fish are just random as to what you will get. How does lining up the circles perfectly or near perfect get you a minnow?
Other than that I like the concept. Cute graphics as always. I don't even mind that I need to rethink my strategy to get enough lures but the randomness of the "catch" is going to drive me bonkers.

The randomness in events is a turn off for me. I like being able to do a certain job and receive a certain reward. I hate doing something and not being able to make any progress at all toward a goal. I also do not like the drop rate of the feathers. I got 107 worms and 5 feathers so was only able to make 1 regular lure and now I wait. I pretty much do not like this event at all.

Whenever I see/hear word "random" related to computer software, I can't help but smirk.
So, I'll participate for the heck of it, but in veeeeery leisure way.
No strategies, only premium lures and hopefully (knock on wood) NOT win cloud row.
