Like bad fish, this event stinks. The drop rate for the lure feathers is absurd. Since the event started, I have only been able to small amount lures. I won a cloud? really? Now I would need to win the 3 items to put in the cloud. In an event like this, the cloud row should be the prize w/o having to win the items...let me put what I want up there...so many rows that require event prizes....So in my opinion, I give this event a huge thumbs down :(

You have to put out more animal stables then. The lure feathers only drop from the stables, not crops, trees or workshops.

I agree, the drop rate for the feathers is awful. I have just harvested a long awaited field of spinach and another of organic cotton and received zero feathers. I was so gobsmacked that I scrolled down to check I wasn't mistaken. I have won the cloud row with the first fish but have decided with this poor drop rate of feathers I will not do any more of this event. Very disappointed and thumbs down from me too.

Maybe, just maybe, you may consider the Cloud Row items as rewards in some FS quest, so that we may be able to complete the row. Since they are winnable multiple times, I do not think those who have won them here would complain. Similarly those without the Row could as well use them independently.
But then; it's just a maybe.
I should go back to bed, I'm in the middle of a nightmarish dream...

Yes Bhodo - too much fishing gives you nightmares. I hope you put on a hat while you were fishing. Too much sun affects the brain cells and we here rely on your excellent input. Sweet dreams of "Shoes, and ships and sealing wax .........".

Crops don't give feathers. Crops give gummies and machine parts. Stables (only stables...not workshops) give feathers.

I don't expect much after seeing my drops of feathers and worms. Even with the trophy on two fields and loaded with Super Jumbos. Reds, High EP Crops and XXL's . Two days and thousands of EP later I gathered enough to make 10 premium lures. This is Mach-O-Meter reincarnated and it's out to get me! I'm swinging between dis-interested, bored or confused.
    Me not like.
    Added after event:
Got one for the stalk row, and now it's staring me in the face doing nothing. Did what I could but the NICE JOB! showed up even when I had the glowing green ring. I disliked this event because of the random drops, random luck, and random odds. I'd rather do an event that had X amount of Chickens to make and completed levels.

I was really looking forward to this event. I love the idea of having a mini-game, as well as having an event that lets players continue their "off-event" farming. The thing that disappoints me most is that BP did not deliver an event that was according to the FAQ put out for it, one that would you could be most successful with skill in the mini-game:

    From the FAQ:
Both lure types give you the chances to get any of the 4 fish. Of course, the chance of getting a better fish is higher with the more perfect your catch is. How exactly does this work?

The fishing mini game's aim is to have the moving circle overlapping with the stationary circle. When the moving circle and the stationary one overlap, they will be glowing light green - it is the point you have to aim for, to maximise your chances of getting the best fish.

As others have noted, this is NOT how the mini-game works. I have matched up the two circles exactly many times, but have never gotten a gold fish. In fact, the only gold fish that I got was when I purposely did not match the circles so I could see what would happen! Is it too much to ask that things work how you say they will? At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if the FAQ was changed with BP saying that it was always intended to be random (this sort of thing HAS happened in the past.

Also, the drop rate is dismal. A whole field of trees only gave 3 gummy worms. I only seem to be getting enough drops to make about 5 or 6 regular lures per day -- I actually do better at lining up those circles with the regular lures (not that it matters). At this rate, especially with getting minnows when I earned gold fish, I'll never be able to get the cloud items.

    RATINGS:
Graphics: 10 out of 10 (as usual!)
Intended mechanism: 10 out of 10
Delivered mechanism: 1 out of 10
Drop rate: 2 out of 10
Overall rating: 0 out of 10

My feedback is consistent with all the other players feedback. Although, after I'm lucky enough to finally get enough drops to make a lure, I do score perfectly as per the FAQ, I always get the lowest fish. As with other players, I get better results just clicking it somewhere else !! Doesn't work properly, and the drops are dismal to the point it is the worst event I can remember in all my years of playing. Really bad event which could have been a nice change from event crop growing.

I think the FAQ already says that there is some randomness. It doesn't say that the you'll get a better fish with a better match, but that the chance of getting a better fish improves with a better catch. It also says that the chance of getting the best fish is maximized if you get the glowing circle, not that you'll get a golden trout with a perfect match.

So I do believe that the game works as intended, but from the comments here (and in other forums) I think it should have been made clearer.

All lures that I've been able to make: green ring: 90% minnow and not enough of either others.

2 rewards: baha ep, and cc. -.-

Like the idea, don't like the execution of the game.

    Droprate Lure Feathers:

I think the issues with this event is there is no strategy involved. There has been no sure fire way to maximize your drops. What has been working for some has not worked for others. With the fishing there is no way to really control what you get. You feel like you should get the circles perfectly aligned and you finally do it and you get a Minnow, then you completely get trigger happy and miss the circle by a mile and you get a Golden Trout. As a farmer with FOCD this is painful. Waiting for animal stables is like watching paint dry. Trying to find that nice mix of crops and animals is frustrating one drop is always higher than the other.
I love the concept, the graphics are awesome and the prizes are good but the randomness is causing sudden outbursts of hair pulling and dirty language. :inlove::p:oops::cry:

Not sure I agree Mir - the way I read the original post, the closer to a perfect match the better the fish... ie any perfect match would give the biggest fish.... The number of times I have caught a minnow from a perfect match of circle is getting silly...
The drop rates are lousy, so the occasional line we have to cast, get a perfect match and pull out a minnow!!! And this leads me to another gripe, why make the better lure as this is also wasted on minnows with perfect matches....
Great idea, but rubbish in practice...

The first time I read it I thought so too. And was very surprised to get a minnow with what I thought was a very good match. Rereading the FAQ I discovered that what it says is that the chance (of getting something good) is better.

While I think the game work as was intended, I think it should have been explained better, especially since this type of mechanic is completely new. I also think that even with randomness to the catches, a perfect match should not result in a minnow -.- and premium lures should give noticeably better results -.-

I am enjoying this event and manage to hit the green fairly regularly, but I do find it galling when I catch a minnow with a premium lure - I think we need minnow repellent on that lure please. The prizes are good and I like the fact that I haven't had to rip my fields up.

Sorry, ~edit~ You do not get feathers from cotton, spinach or any other crop. This is clearly stated in the FAQs. The FAQs say that feathers come ONLY from stables, (not workshops, either) Worms, to contrast, come only from crops or trees.

I have used only premium lures, some of which I bought. I found the prizes well in excess of other events -- I got 4 banana for one golden trout, 4 and 2 wonder stables, baha trees, etc, etc. And, I did fill my cloud row.

Other comments, I made earlier, still stand. Although I have my fields planted with relatively high level stables, crops and trees, I seem to only be able to make about 4-5 lures a day. Like others, I am getting plenty of machine parts, but less of the other items. If this is per design, then OK. Though I have played a few times, I am not seeing a big issue with the way the game operates. Yesterday I seemed to get a slightly better result from not hitting the target. Today, I get the gold trout when it hit the bulls eye. HOWEVER, not every time. As the FAQs state, it is always chance, but your chances improve with the better shot. I also am only using premium lures. With this many people complaining, it might be worth checking the calculations, but it could be that the above folks are just the unfortunate few. Since I don't have access to the full stats (of course), its hard to say.

That would be the other caution I would offer to other players (even though this is a feedback thread, its also labeled a discussion thread) -- to not judge based on their poor small sample results. This game goes on for a few more days and playing is not costing anything unless you buy lures, so just keep trying.

I'd accept that if it wasn't for the fact that I ALWAYS get minnows when I get a perfect match now. Seriously. The better I do the worse the results. If the moving circle end up outside or inside the static one, the results seem totally random, I can get anything from minnow to golden, even if the circle end up in exactly the same spot, but if I hit a perfect glowing circle I get a minnow every time. I think there must be something wrong with the game, like there is a delay or something before the hit is registered.

Woody, josstreater was already set straight about this (see post #67, just a few posts above yours)...she/he was confused but I'm not sure chastising was necessary. o_O People sometimes miss details in FAQs. We're all human. :)

Please be slow to take offense to comments on the forum. :oops:Remember that, even though this is the English forum, we have many folks who speak English as a second language. Also, written language can easily be misinterpreted since it lacks the many ways we can express emotions/nuances in spoken language. I try to err on the side that folks are trying to be helpful - it's so hard to read minds on the forum

I sure hope no one takes offense to this comment! Just trying to keep the peace!;)
