So let Lily's tour of NZ , finally begin
South Island, in a balloon ! to take it All in !!
The Canterbury Plains, where farming is best
The Southern Alps separate East and west

Lower picture is Jaipur, India - too magnificent too leave out.

 

David, oh David! What a wonderful trip so far!
I'm so glad you asked me-you're my shining star!
In the plane you were so thoughtful, putting me on your knee
So I might look out the window to see what there is to see!

Your Country is so beautiful, laid out down below...
Then you took away my breath as you said,"Look, now!
It's just the beginning of our adventure...there's so much more!!"
Then we hit an air pocket, and were dumped onto the floor!!

Next day early in the morning, he said a surprise was in store
Then he took me to a field filled with huge Balloons and more,
Said "Hop in!! We're soaring on air today - you will see
So much of my Country!! Like a Dream it will be!!"
​

And he was right! - 'Pinch me!', I said....and he DID!
Where, I won't say!! Then we tussled and giggled...just like a kid!
Nearly fell out of the balloon, we were having so much fun...
Floating softly, out of space and of time in the early morning sun.....​

 

The balloon ride was fantastic! My Girl is so thrilled
Even in danger, when we almost spilled !
The paddocks below, laid out like a quilt
Crop and animal farms, on what our country is built.

But the photographer, Chad, has got a keen eye
I'm not talking mountain scenery, just by and by
He's got my dream car! - A Corvette Stingray
NO! It gets worse ! He's a cousin of Brad - USA!

I've brought my Lily to NZ to show her our best
And now my responses are being put to the Test
'Back Off - she's mine!' thoughts Scream in my head...
But if I show jealousy, this relationship's dead.

He's offered Lily a ride, to Dunedin down South
Oh what can I say... words dry up in my mouth...
Lily's here to have fun, and I have to be fair
She would enjoy the day trip with the wind in her hair!!

And Aunt Bethy needs me to hire a wheelchair van
She taught me to dance, I'll help cause I can
"Have fun Lily, honey and I'll see you tonight!"
Her hug was worth it as she squealed with delight!

Dear Diary,
What a welcome to New Zealand!
The only thing missing was a big brass Band!
The first thing we did was to soar in the sky
In a hot air Balloon, we were lifted sooo high!

When we almost fell out, David held me so tight...
He was my Hero!...and held me for the rest of the flight!
And when we landed, pictures were taken by Chad,
A photographer who turned out to be related to Brad!!

He was here to photograph Cousin Marigold's Wedding
And was staying at Larnach Castle-right where we're heading!
Chad's offered me a ride in his beautiful Stingray Corvette
And David's said yes...(At least this time I won't get Wet!!)

What adventures await us I can hardly tell
In this land 'Down Under' that casts such a spell...
So beautiful, from mountains to beaches full of shells.
To be here for a Wedding is perfect! I already hear Bells!!

But we like extra letters over here just to confuse you and then tell you off for poor spelling!

 

My Sister was doing an exam in Japan as part of her 'English Teaching Experience'
and missed a 100% grade because she put a U in colour......

Ohhh

 

I collected Aunt Bethy, in the hired wheelchair van
She started on me,"Are you a mouse or a man?
Your girl from America has gone in a car?
She's gone speeding to Dunedin with a photographer!
You promised her parents, to let her travel this far
Put your hands over your ears, Your brain is Ajar !"

I had really messed up, copping Bethy's full Wrath
" If brains were water, you couldn't give a one legged flea a foot bath !"
We finally reached the Octagon - a place really neat
Aunt Beth finally quiet, my ear bashing complete.

Outside at a cafe, waving, sat my dear Lily.
After worrying real bad; twas a great sight to see!
Like old friends long parted, Lily greeted Bethy
"My toes are forever grateful," she said laughingly

Chad was returning, from wherever Chad's go
His attitude suggesting he was still star of the show
What's he doing? heading to pull back Lily's chair!
"Hang on there Pal, she ain't going nowhere!"

Bethy's scolding me again.."You shouldn't say 'ain't"
Chad standing behind Lily, like some sort of saint
I lean to my Lily, real cool-like, methinks
and torpedoed a waiter with a full tray of drinks!
Water, ice, bourbon, they spilled everywhere
Most landing on Lily or on Lily's chair!

"David ! How could you ! I'm soaking again...
I came for a holiday, not to come between men!
I've just met Aunt Bethy, and now I'm a drowned rat.
Now please get me a towel, and stop eyeing me like That !!"

Dear Diary,

You won't believe what has happened - a day that went bad!!
First a great drive with Chad, then a meeting with David we had.
I should have known!-What is it with David, and Brad, and now Chad??!!
I'm WET again!! WET again, with Alcohol, too!! Ohhhh! I'm sooo Mad!!

Halfway around the World...you'd think I'd be safe and free
From male competition and.."It's either you or it's me"!!
And who's in the middle...with a target on her back??
And why always WET?!! Soon I'll be wearing a sack!!

I've brought real special clothes - it's a wedding, so true!
Now I'm scared to wear them - I don't know what to do!!
I'll be going with David....but Chad will be there, too,
Somehow I know I'll get WET, and it makes me feel blue!

David's usually so sweet, I just don't know what it is
When they get together I'm either theirs or I'm his!
But that's not how this works - I belong to myself! Yes!
And I came here for fun with David, nothing more or less!

So let the Wedding take place without another thought
Of what MIGHT happen...I'm just overwrought
At being drenched again and more clothes being tossed!
But I won't let the joy of the wedding be lost!!

And anyway, Diary Dear, David is such a delight
The last thing I want to do is to fuss or to fight!
He makes my heart flutter...things Must come Right
'Cause he is the one that makes my smile bright!!​

Chad's in Dunedin for the next few days
So I am taking Lily to Te Anau, to the glowworm caves
On the boat, they hand out raincoats - Lily wonders why?
"Is this your new plan? - how to keep me Dry?
wear a raincoat all-day-long...
Just in case something goes wrong?"
