I am very close to being able to begin a new artisan trade through Renzo's. Currently, I have Florist (level 4), the lamented Alchemist and have just opened the Spa.

I would would greatly appreciate advice as to choosing between Bakery and Confectioner. Thank you in advance for the great advice I am certain will come my way!:inlove:

The confectioner is the easiest of the trades as I see it. You don't need any "products" like you do for the other two trades so it's less expensive in general to produce items. You do have to purchase the better recipes with BB once you level up but that is also true of the Bakery. My advice would be to look at both FAQ's closely and determine which seem to be a better fit for your type of farming based on their requirements.

It actually doesn't matter which you choose. If you have one open already, when you open the second the third is opened for free. So whichever you choose you will get both available for you to open up.

So sorry, I worded my request for advice badly.

I understand what TCRooster has explained, but am uncertain which one to pursue for leveling up. I am interested to know which trade others have found the most helpful or worth the effort to pursue.

I always recommend Confectioner for a first trade for the simple fact of Pumpkin Jam (and lamentably CAC) for increased crop output.
Making or purchasing then turning in 5 Lavendar Jam also helps you level with confectioner quicker.

I agree with Banjo!!! The confectioner is the trade I have used far more than any other!!!

Sorry Willow - brain failing to function at the moment! I agree the confectioner is the way to go - Easter Marmalade at level 5 is great and lavender jam to level up, although I ate pink jelly as I seemed to have loads of those, but they are far less effective. Also the bakery eats your ostrich eggs and is particularly expensive at higher levels.
There is a thread here that may help.

I suggest you look at the thread on this subject in the strategy forum. It contains a LOT of very useful information. The short was the most people found the confectioner best, but many argued for the bakery first. However, I cannot remember why.

For myself, initially, I regretted opening the florist, but am happy to be able to make valentines pots, terror bouquets and church bouquets. I was working to level up the confectionary so I could make CAC, but it is less of a priority now that I have the CAC cloud row. My priority is the spa. Anyway, I do suggest reading the threads in the Strategy forum.

:DThanks for the help, everyone! I was leaning toward confectioner after studying the faq, but wanted to ask wiser heads. After all, I picked Alchemist all on my own!

TCRooster and Woody - I thought I had looked through the forum completely for a thread on this, but somehow missed it! o_O Thanks for the link and the advice.

It was in the archives Willow, so easily overlooked. I knew I'd seen one recently somewhere!

So you're happy making jam. I like that.

Send me some of that homemade jam to try out. I wanna see if it's any good. xD

    Good luck.

    Hi Willow.....

Since you have now opened up confectionery Happy Making Jam.....You have two Crafts at Level 3 you can open Third Craft for Free so when you have Confectionery at Level 3 you can open up Bakery for Free.

Also can level up the Florist to Level 3 Quickly too by Buying and Eating Wedding Crafts which help level up quicker, once you have two crafts at level 3 can open Third one for Free

The Spa Manager and Alchemist can both be opened using Stars ok ;)

Thanks Mooboy! I have already reached level 4 in florist; also just reached level two in Spa and closing in on level 3 in confectioner. I decided to push hard on confectioner after previous advice above, and will open bakery when convenient. Looks like that will be soon at the rate I'm going!
