It is a display of the time. Instead of the last of the countdown showing 0 for the last 59 seconds, it now shows 1 for the last 59 seconds and then when it momentarily reaches 0, the crop is ready for harvest. I watched this for a long time before I came to this conclusion.

Just check the base growth/ripe times: they changed them and, so, the total time is changed. It's not a display "issue".

It's not the first time it happens. Long ago, pumpkins had a 06:00 base growth time and it was changed to 05:58. It's now 05:59 (and, I think, some additional seconds, not shown) while they kept 06:00 for snowdrop.

As pointed out in another post, SSG on Comfort fields yields +4 not +2. I actually planted these fields as a test and took the information directly from them. I didn't just "do the math" to get this information. There should be no confusion.

Aluntino, This is what has been done.

    5-----4-----3-----2-----1-----0-----Done Before
    6-----5-----4-----3-----2-----1-----0Done After

Actual growing time is the same.

Got 44 drops from my carnations awhile ago, which makes my first drops total 174. :D Love those comfort fields!

Two fields now in 2x2's and nuking with everything, which should be enough seed to start planting 1x1's next round. Fingers crossed that work isn't too busy today so that I can manage to harvest on time to get my 1x1's going!o_O

My God, SweetCassiopeia/Noelle, just check the base growth/ripe times (EDIT: I may add: Aluntino, just check the base growth/ripe times; if I had before writing this, I would have realized they had changed practically all of them back to previous timings): they changed in most cases, and that means the actual times in the fields changed accordingly (EDIT: I now don't know what the actual in field timings are; I'll need to wait till current event's end to check some of them). They simply take more time. It's just seconds, but many of them. The only display thing they changed is that, before, something taking 10 min would be immediately displayed as 9 and now it shows 10 (EDIT: I don't know any more if that's the case). Given the hard lesson I had to learn when I lost a buffing window with carrots/wheat after having both watered and manured them, I think they've also added some seconds to all crops/pens that are not shown, but I have no way to prove that other than that lost buffing window expiration (EDIT: this indeed happened). If that's the case, there's no display change at all in place (EDIT: I don't know any more if this is the case).

-edit-, need a knowledgeable farmer....... come step out of the main thread.
I need to know how to use the rose once it is all refined, by my math, wait for snickers....stop now, I should be able to get my drops if I do the rose thing, past reading says they used them, and a smart person told me to remember the 24 hour lag, but I forgot to ask how to do it.
Not making a connection here if instant, why plant over night? I got all 9 refinements-.- and yep, the wood came 9th. any words?
Feel free to mail me if not welcome here.

Congratulations keltic on getting on 9 refinements on roses:)

The reason that some players use refined roses is because you can harvest them almost instantly with the refinements and amendments of water, manure, super grow and using buffs like white innocence (and fruit cake?). I can do roses in 35 minutes since I don't have all the refinements. Yes, you can plant overnight but this is a good way to get drops quickly if you find yourself short. Not everyone has the refinements needed to get 'instant' roses nor super grow supplies.

Under the plant refinery (in the farmhouse) you will see your refinement slots. You need to activate the ones you want for roses but when you delete the existing ones, it costs 2500 CC and you have to wait for 24 hours for that slot to be available.

    Good luck!:)

    Hi keltic,

Like pnp said, congrats on getting all 9 rose refinements!! It takes quite a bit of patience trying to get some of those stubborn refinements! I am a visual person so I will add to what pnp said with some pictures!
    :D

You will need to select the super-grow rose refinements (and eat/activate any super-grow boosting buffs/clouds) before you plant your roses. Once activated, your greenhouse refinement will have an "!" in the lower corner instead of the checkmark shown below. I couldn't find a screenshot in Arrq's refinement thread to link to, so I quickly made one for you.

    Rose refinements related to super-grow:
When you combine the refined roses with any combo of White Innocence, Fruitcake, or the Chestnut cloud row (below), it can make the crop able to be harvested immediately or in a very short-amount of time.

I have only used roses a couple times to boost my drops, but I would recommend you experiment with a single 2x2 first and then see what the time changes to after you add super-grow to it. Sometimes super-grow is all you need in order to get an instant harvest! (This also helps prevent problems in case you are like me, and might forget to eat your white innocence etc. before planting your roses!) ;) Only then would I add water and manure. If you get roses that you can harvest immediately, then you can decide if you want to switch to comfort fields and try experimenting there too.

    @Aluntino / Sweet_ Cassiopeia ~ will finish a reply later when I've a bit more time ;)

    puppiesnponies,
Thank-you! Cool, I got them in the greenhouse got fumbled by instant how to get that with what buffs, thanks.
    CJAT,
Sniffle, pictures, you all do like me! ok, before planting not harvesting-.- ok, that would have helped, I am thick......
Yes, it took a lot of roses to get them 9, lots and lots and lots and lots of roses, in fact it was during this I saw the light and bought my way to high numbers... self growing is not all that anymore.....

Thanks all for indulging me here I knew something got wonky and now I think I got the path. Now to go try a square or two! I will get my drops.

Last night on Main, Meadow and Glade I pulled out all of my horsies and put small, 1x1, plots in. I left the trees on the fringes and all of Baha in place. Started up the flower CR (only on first two farms) and added water and manure. Same setup, different trees, on all three farms.

    Drops from initial harvest...
    Farm 1 (4 Howies): 145 -2 magic trees = 143
    Farm 2 (no Howies): 152 -8 magic trees = 144
    Farm 3 (no Howies): 156 -6 magic trees = 150

Anyone that, from the initial harvest, had more than the daily average needed to finish this event is doing great and shouldn't have any trouble getting the rest of the drops, ASSUMING that they are able to harvest their crops as the crops are ready. I expect to have the rest of the drops by the end of the day. Tomorrow morning at the latest. For those of us in that position... sending us event drops as gifts is a waste of a gift. Elixir and sugar are far more useful.

I then removed enough small plots to put in large, 2x2s, plots. Added water, manure, SG and Suzy's magic dust. When those were done I removed enough small plots to carpet the rest of the field with large plots and again used... water, manure, SG and SSG. The small plots during this time had either oats or sunflowers. Then I removed all the large plots and set out small plots. Main and Glade have the 4h crop and Meadow the 6h crop for the rest of the day.
I don't have the builder and won't be changing my farm again during this event.

Getting drops is multifaceted. It starts with the unknown... what are the devs going to do with the drop rate algorithm? To the things we have control over... discussed in the General Event Strategies thread.

djh99, thanks! And... you're welcome. I thought from reading your post that you were limited to 4-6h crops on Baha. Ginger is a better choice. Add water and you can harvest 3 times a day. I'm sticking with my trees. Too much trouble to change them out.

I suspect the issue of "time" is either...
A Flash display issue. I have a vague memory from a year or two ago of lots of ppl complaining about the timers sitting at 0:00 for "a minute" before actually being ready to harvest. Seems like there was an OA announcing a "fix". If a coding language is buggy sometimes one has to make some odd tweaks to get the desired result.
    OR
An incompetent programmer that doesn't know how to RFM. Or write code. And fixed the issue by writing sloppy code. When one writes code using numbers one has to be very explicit regarding how to store, manipulate or display them.

I've noticed that when I go to do FHOs the time remaining until I get new orders is... 24:01. During non-event days I mostly plant 12h+ crops and harvest once a day. I haven't noticed changes to growing time because of that. I look at the time on the seed catalog.

If the "times" are really bothering you... file a complaint.

All of us that hate the 2 day event should file official complaints in the feedback thread, as already mentioned. I'm also QUITE fedup with Flash/Shockwave crashing. It sometimes adds an hour or more to my day. It's enough that I've seriously considered quitting this game.

I like one of SillyGuy's and one of CJAT's posts. I'm going to add links to General Event Strategies so you two won't have to type all that up again. [Because information posted in event strategy thread's tends to get lost over time...] The post about the "instant" roses would be better in Arrouquelas' Refinement thread with a link in this thread directing the ppl who still need that info over there.

    That´s the spirit, keltic:D

Hopefully you won´t have to grow any instant roses...
I stumbled into the event almost unprepared, with watermelons on 3 fields, ginger on Baha and an assortment of special and XXL trees which I had harvested before event start:music:
    Initial drops were 46 xD
Now after nuking my seeds and CFs with rose hips ready for the night I already have 147 drops. So they don´t seem to be an issue...

Good night @ all and good luck with crops and drops :)

I have just noticed, by chance, while planting one of the event's crops, that one of the crops growth time I reported above as changed is now again listed at its previous time. I quickly checked those I remembered to have changed. Well, they changed practically all of them back to previous timings!!! For instance, oats, that were changed from 00:45 to 00:46, are now showing 00:45 again. Pumpkins, again at 05:58, and so on. But they kept the changed to 01:30 for corn (it was 01:29).

So, I don't know what the actual in field times are now. But, for sure, I now have to change my spreadsheets again.....

I'll edit my previous posts on this subject right away.

    Suzee,

The timings had been changed in the seeds catalogue, the one used for planting, and accordingly shown when planted. Until they changed them back to previous timings in almost all cases, I don't know when, probably today or over the weekend.

I agree it's about poor programming. And not having a clue on how to play this game.

The drops have certainly been good so far. I was worried about not getting good drops for the event crops but I'm getting 10 to 12 per field for the 4 hour crop. I need less than a hundred chilies at this point so it's all looking good so far. Now if there was only manure to purchase. ;)

Look BP know that 2 day event really hurry, so give us generous drops.
so far, nearly reach target. So, I just mill the total 27 fir punch.
Now, rush my best for the event crop growing. I tear most of space for
crop growing only keep very little stable/workshop. with 1x1 & CAC, sleep
less to harvest . Hope that I could manage to finished this event.

I also work full time during this event, so my advice to you is do what you can to get as many of the rewards from the Quest that you can. I don't expect to be able to finish, but there are some good rewards and I will do as much as I can. I figure, anything accomplished with rewards is a good attempt and that will be fine with me. I won't tie up my event plants in the event mill product until I know I am going to be able to utilize it. As far as I can see there isn't any in the first few levels in the quest. I worked all day today, but planned last night with my highest crop and highest ep stables and workshops, comfort fields in baha with my highest crop and a few stables of my highest ep animal. I was happy with my drops when I got home from work, I got a total of 160 drops .... so only 110 more to go. It will be getting the event plants completed and that might not happen. I did a few rounds of 2 x 2 using all the buffs (sg,manue,Suzy & Water) Big apologies for my abbreviations of buffs lol, I've yet to get used to the terminology of these things). I got enough to fill all fields with both event crops before I have to go bed. Comfort Fields again in baha and some stables to hopefully get decent drops there. I can't plant from work.... I will do what I can and I'll be happy I accomplished part of it! Have fun! PS. I also put on CAC before harvesting my crops today when I got home.

same here TCROOSTER, now it's all about the growing to get all the needed crops. Hopefully I will get to finish this event as I miscalculated my times for the crops , so I will have to add another round of each and hope to get them in time to finish before event ends.
meaning I will have to plant more than I originally thought , due to my miscalculations .
