I was just told about the Comfort Fields. I have reached Level 60. Can someone explain what the advantage is to using them? It seems they take the same space, have the same yield and take the same time to harvest. I'm sure that I'm mistaken. So I'd love for someone to explain why they use them. Thank you :music:

Comfort fields take longer to harvest but give greater yield. You will get 3 x the yield of the crop, and it will take 4 x the amount of time to grow. Naturally there are some disadvantages to this, particularly that you won't get as much crop in the same amount of time. Comfort fields take 4 x the amount of time as regular plots, and yield 3 x the amount of crop. Therefore, you will get 15 crops per plot as opposed to 5. A 1 hour crop, for instance, would take 4 hours to be ready for harvest. So, you would take 4 hours to get 15 crops per plot. This isn't as efficient as regular plots, since regular plots could be planted 4 times in the amount of time it would take a 1 hour crop to be ready on the comfort fields. Therefore, in four hours a comfort plot with a 1 hour crop would yield 15 crops, whereas a regular plot with a 1 hour crop would yield 20. If that maths doesn't make sense I can re-explain :D Comfort fields also take 3 seeds as opposed to 1, so if you're planting 44 2x2 plots you will need 132 seeds as opposed to the normal 44.

However, there are also benefits. I like to use comfort fields on bahamarama where there are a lot of short-time crops. Since I can't be on the game all day every day, I can get a much bigger yield of crops by placing a short-time crop on comfort fields. Since those crops would just be sitting there idle and ready to harvest, I may as well make them grow a little longer and get 3 times the amount I would get if I didn't.

    Comfort fields FAQ

They do have their use and can be quite good in certain circumstances. I also liked them in Baha when I was getting started and didn't have long crops yet for overnight.

How I see, there's only 4 reasons to use comfort field over normal plot

    1. You are a low level player and your highest crop takes only 4 hours so you want to use comfort field to plant overnight
    2. You are in desperate need of a moderate duration crop and the price of that crop in the market is too expensive.
    3. You are preparing for an event that requires drop so you plant on comfort field and harvest just at the start of the event
    4. You have instant carnation or semi-instant rose so you use comfort field when you perform that multi-buff trick

I use if for a fifth reason - When I am away for a weekend I put in my longest crop 18 or 19 hours and they are ready when I return. Useful at Christmas etc when I can't farm due to family!

I agree what is said above. I also use them for cress, lettuce and the rest short hour crops.
But I frequently use them when I don't know when it is the next time I can log in so I plant very long hour crops and they will need some days to get ready and also 2 days to turn weeds.
I used to plant in comfort fields during winter when I had school. I rarely use them during summer.
