I always enjoy the advent calendar and the gifts are a great bonus. However, I agree that players should not be penalised to open a sock each day or pay 2BB if it is still wanted after the day has gone. It doesn't seem fair at all. Please can we return to the calendar as it was the last few years. Thank you.

I just wanted to say that I think the payment for a missed day is very scroogelike. I wouldn't mind paying for a missed gift at the end of the week, only collect it on the day it's available. I ended up paying 2BBs for one missed day, the gingerbread day. I have been sick since the event started. Sore throat, fever, generally feeling like crap :wuerg:. If we didn't have the pay if you miss, I would not have logged in everyday. I didn't gift, didn't do fuzzles, did nothing but open that &*(^@ stocking every day. For me, the day resets at 3 pm. I did pay since I only missed one, but I should not have had to.

On a positive note, I did like the gifts, just didn't think it was worth the 2BB to open one stocking. Can't wait for the really cool gift. :p

I love the Advent Calendar and I like the addition of the bonus gift at the end of the week.
It does seem a shame that people have to pay BB's for any day they have missed.
I'm in agreement with those who have suggested the bonus should be given to those who have opened their stockings on the correct days and also that all stockings can be opened anytime without payment.

I just want to say why I think having to pay BBs for missed days in unfair. Farmerama day resets for me at 6PM. If I sign on today at 3PM I can only open the present for 12/11, then I sign on tomorrow at 7PM - the game has done a cycle and now I can only collect the present for 12/13. To Farmerama I have "missed" a day. However, I really haven't. I have signed on each and every day - and still, I have to pay for a day.
I think that is beyond unfair, especially at this busy time of year.

A bit of perspective here, folks...

You do realize that even if you miss ALL the events, it only takes 48 BB to open the stockings? That means you are getting ALL of these prizes for the store price of less than 3 powerfeed OR 3 supergrow!!! EVEN IF you wind up buying a stockings, it is still a very, very good deal!

Lack BB??? for only $2.49 US currency (a tad more than a large cup of coffee at a cheap fast food place, just for perspective), or your monetary equivalent, you can have 50 BB ! Sure, its real money, but if we are talking trading for family time...

Anyway, I myself am very ,very happy with the event so far, I have gotten powerfeed, supergrow, harvester coupons, fertilizers, CC, bahaEP, etc.

EDIT: The only point I would make is that if someone begins as a brand NEW player, then (and ONLY then), I do think the BB cost should be waived. as a "one time" deal.

Woody... Are you feeling OK? or is the Christmas spirit upon you?? ;)xD
Nice to see this perspective of you 8)
48BBs is quite cheap for the presents isn't it though?
And the best has yet to come (we hope).
I cannot say anything negative until I see the last present opened... and even then I probably wouldn't.

I too always love the Advent Calendar. This year has the bonus gift when a week is completed - this is a nice touch and the prizes are really good this year. :D:D
I am not keen on players being asked to pay for missed days - it is Christmas after all ! :sleepy:Perhaps a better idea would have been to only offer the end of week bonus if all stockings were opened on the correct day. If this was made clear at the start, any missed days could be picked up any time but you would lose the bonus gift. This would be a sufficient carrot to get players to log in daily but would not cost those who are unable to log in on a particular day - it would be unfortunate for these players to lose the bonus gift but fairer overall.

27th Dec - just want to add that final bonus parcel of cloud row at the end was brilliant - thank you !!

The advent calender prizes seem nice, but why does a new player, one who did not even join before the event started have to pay to open up older stockings?

    Good point.
I like the presents, but would have preferred less valuable prizes available to everybody without having to pay for a missed day.

Different time zones seem to be even more of a problem than usual, in this busy time of the year.
Considering that the players outside Europe are more likely to have a lot more distances to cover to see their families (the US is really big and my husbands family is spread out all over the place), it becomes even more unfair.
The travel time is not always up to the player, storms are happening here all the time and make travelling very difficult.

For example mudslides have buried houses in California and I am doubtful as to whether they even had any electricity at all for a while.

Christmas is not the time to take advantage of the misfortune of fellow players. I believe every player would like the presents and after having a tough time already in real life, they would have been particularly appreciative of the fact that on their little farm, presents are waiting for them.
At least their little pixel world is forgiving, understanding and maybe even extra fun to go to after such a mess in the real world.

It is not the amount that bugs me... It is the fact that any BB's might have to be paid for the advent calendar or people might be excluded.
And I believe that it is more likely to apply to people that have already fallen on hard times, like dealing with destructive weather or having accidents on icy roads.

Not everybody has insurance for every possible instance and if they do, a lot of insurances have special ways of wiggling their way out of paying.
So yes a couple of BB's don't seem much, but for people that already have fallen on hard times, they are indeed. Please let them recover and don't exclude them just for that because as long as they are part of the community they might actually look forward to the time that they can support one of their favorite games again. And support not only comes from money, but as well from players that spread their happiness about the last presents to people that don't play yet.

This event is not like the others. It usually is up to the player to decide whether or not to play. The advent calendar on the other hand is one of the rare events that everybody is excited about and would like to finish. Unfortunately quite a few players will not be able to do so, because of the new setup. Or they will have to pay BB's to finish.

Events should never ask for BB's, this is what makes this game enjoyable and free. People with BB's can do better than the ones without... Okay, but BB's should never be needed to participate in events in the first place.

Will I recommend the game as the survey is asking me? No. Not like this.
At some point I was thinking to tell my sister in law about the game, especially because the kids have seen me play and it's good for math and languages.
But they are a very busy bunch already and I wouldn't want my family to be excluded by a game that I recommended just because they went to see Aunt Melanie for Christmas and she doesn't have internet.
This will actually apply in the future as well as I only get to see them for the Christmas season, if I get to see them at all.

And so if they would start playing after the first of December, I would already set up a sure fire disappointment.
Just started as a new player, no BB's available yet, busy schedule, kids like the presents from the game but their Mom will certainly not invest in a game that she is just playing since a couple of days (not even knowing what the different goodies are for).
And if I would have started playing this free game with this setup, I would probably just have stopped playing before Christmas even comes around. Because I do not consider a paid advent calendar to be a feature of a free game. I started playing because it was a free game and only later did I start supporting the team with real money. Buying RM harvesters even though I have a lot of harvesters still available in Quests and as coupons. I just used to ask for Farmerama related Christmas presents from my family, even though I didn't need them. But it seemed easy presents to ask for until now. Well they are still easy to ask for, but I don't want my family to spend their money on this game anymore. It wouldn't make me happy right now.

Am I still having fun playing myself?
Well much less than three weeks ago, I have to admit. My patience has shifted somewhat as well. The events and certainly the rewards seem to have picked up some, but that was never really why I played Farmerama in the first place. I played it and paid money for it because it was a free game (as odd as this might sound to many players).

I really wish there would be a way to make the missed presents available to all players after all and without them having to pay BB's.

I think that this game is still just as fun as it has been for the last 4 years. I strongly believe that people bring disappointment upon themselves. I do have to agree that this payment in exchange for missing one day is a horrible addition, because as everyone has said, players are busy with RL, travelling, shopping, making arrangements, cooking, spending time with family, and working. However, I don't feel that this makes the game any less "fun", unless you choose to let it.

EDIT: Just opened the advent calendar for today and bonus gift. Wow. Just wow. Absolutely incredible. So happy!
