I don't understand why we can start the event days before Baby Boom Day. Most people I'm sure, like me will not begin the event till BBD starts. Please teddy.bear ask the developers what their thinking is on this silly situation or just box their ears for being so daft.:(

I'm sending a whole Black Forest Gateau to you teddy.:)

It is difficult to give real feedback for the moment because I haven't actually done any breeding for the event. I have completed as much as I can on both of my farms with my existing stock left over from the last "Cuckoo" event. But, as is obvious from the lack of feedback in this thread so far, most farmers will wait till Baby Boom begins. :sleepy:

My main point is that it is very frustrating when an event starts to have to wait for corresponding events to start. I can't understand what is gained by this. Most farmers will wait as there is a great difference to the number of breeding animals we will get during Baby Boom. Also many will not buy PF until the PF sale starts. So why doesn't the PF sale, Baby Boom and Cuckoo Event all start at the same time? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this delayed start for BB and PF Sale. o_O

As for any breeding event, I love them all! Just hate all this waiting for the main event to begin! :inlove:

I think BP are trying to get us to spend real money on BBs and then buy PF and use lots of PF because some farmers can't wait for BBD. Does this sound too far fetched?!

Or they are banking on new players not knowing about the sales and spend real money.... one time hit but profitable.
Just like not having a link mail as a new account is made telling and showing newbies the forums were they could save and do more.
Now I know more, I will not do anything before BBD and never buy before 1/2 off sale.

I haven't started the event yet as I am waiting for the Baby Boom to be announced and also Power Feed sales. I agree with the comments made above as the breeding events always seem a little disjointed and new players can miss out on getting a lot more animals if they don't realise.

I am not sure I quite understand all of this...what is the Baby Boom day, and how do newbies miss out so very much? Help me so I don't fall into the trap!! :/

    Griff,

During Baby Boom Day (BBD) every breeding will give at least two breeding animals (instead of the standard one) and the second animal could be of a much higher (or lower) level than the expected breeding result (so you get one animal at the level you expect, and the second one is randomly chosen from any level). If you have the breeding runes open you could get up to 6-8 (IIRC) total animals, though most of those are base animals (as opposed to breeding animals).

Many newbies start to breed at the beginning of a breeding event (or breed when there are no events), and only get 1 result per 2 Power Feed (PF). Many older players consider this to be a waste of PF (and base animals) compared to the BBD results, and refuse to breed unless there is a BBD (I'm one of them).

In addition, BBD almost always coincides with a PF sale (saving you money or hard-earned BBs).

Thank you for pointing that out! I had no idea there was a BBD...:wuerg:
Already used at least 100 PF :cry:

At least now I know to wait, thanks!

I can think of a positive note for not having the BBD begin immediately when the event begins. It does allow for players to raise more animals for breeding in the few days prior to the BBD beginning. Granted this mostly benefits the newer players that do not have large back stocks of animals in their barn. It also allows for more time to sell animals and breeding animals on the market prior to most people breeding. In my limited experience pricing seems to go up dramatically on animals prior to the BBD and then falls off rapidly.

So there are some advantages that do not center around BP trying to get us to spend more. I know I would not have been able to finish the Rodeo babies event if the start of BBD had coincided with the start of the event as I would not have had enough cows or horses to breed. I have been able to raise extra animals for other breeding outside of the event that I want to do this time around as well.

In all fairness BBD is mentioned and highlighted in the game FAQ for beginners on breeding. Anything other than giving the basic information could be construed as BP telling you how to play your game and they do not do that, even the mods are not allowed to talk strategy. :)

Lolz I hit reply and WHAM! Automatically quote your entire message? :wuerg: No thanks! *delete* .... :D
anyway, I didn't know the mods had a "hush hush" strategy policy, but it sure makes sense. And regarding your point about the BBD, I think you are write, glad to hear the positive about it! So...is BBD for any animal, or is it restricted to the event animal? (ie cuckoos this time)

    Thanks for the help Clashstrummer!

    Griff,
you can breed any animal. So if you have something else you want to work on or up to you can do that. Depends on what you have for resources but you can usually do the event and also extra breeding. My one word of advice is to make a game plan for what you want to accomplish and stick to it. Things can get out of hand when you get the breeding fever otherwise. ;)

Thanks for the advice! I will try not to catch the breeding fever! Also, I typically avoid spending money on virtual game currency, so I will probably survive with what I have...

First, per timing... I like that this event is offered over a week, rather than just a few days because many people's schedules may not accommodate weekend play, particularly here in the US where this is a major holiday, traditionally the first "hurrah" of summer. (Memorial Day) If I have a complaint about BB, it would be that.. that while its nice to have it during the event, those not able to play a lot on the weekend won't benefit when it is just held during the weekend. Also, while several people have stated that they think this is basically a money-grabbing tactic, I would suggest that the pressure to buy powerfeed packs and the like is higher during the BB events. It is only during those events that I have bought powerfeed. I have not yet decided if I will buy more this time, but it is definitely tempting.. though only because of the added benefit of BB days.

The breeding event itself seems pretty easy to those of us with some cuckoos left from prior events and stores of cuckoos to use. I only really started working on it with the onset of BB today (bred a couple of cuckoos earlier this week, but not much) and I am already almost done. I think it would be reasonable for lower level players.

Well woody, (damn! thought of Tom Hanks again!:p;)) seems like you have it all figured out! I like that you have a strategy, but also a REASON for that. I ask lots of people about things and they give me an answer, then I'm like "why?" and they don't really know!

I really like that the event & BBD start on Friday. Also that this event didn't take long to do. For me it took just shy of 4 hours to complete. That allows plenty of time for RL and even breeding some other animals... now if only the PF holds out!!! I might be tempted to buy more ;):p

I thought this event was ok, not too bad but not that good either. There was alot of breeding of coloured animals involved and cost alot of powerfeeds. I like that BBD doesn't start at the beginning of the event. I agree with Clashstrummer on that it gives some players time to build up the animals before BBD takes place. The newer players did not get to have thousands of cuckoos saved up in their barn from previous events therefore had to make them or buy them in the market. I for one found it hard having to buy majority of it because cc is what I am lacking :(

I think this particular breeding event and all breeding events are okay as they are.

We assume prior to an breeding event what the animals "rumored" to be or guess what they will be by visiting other forums to build them up. If we are wrong, we have time early on within the week of the quest to build up the right animal, and later during the week, BBD comes along to breed the animal. In my opinion, Farmerama cannot please everyone, and realistically what makes having BBD early in the week or later in the week really matter in the grand scheme of things? We each have our opinion on WHEN BBD should be released but we can ALL agree, we all like BBD's. If we want to argue when BBD (which is not the purpose of this thread) should be released during these events, then we are just being selfish since we want BP to cater to our personal schedules, as others have posted, some people like it early, some people like it later. So as a total player base, we will never agree on when BBD's should be released. I personally prefer it later in the week, and agree with what FarmerNite and Clashstrummer pointed out, it gives time to build animals.

:inlove::inlove: Yay stars!!!!! Thank you so much BP for adding stars to this.

I liked that one didn't have to do all the steps to access the cloud row and its givers.
I liked that some of the PF was given back as a reward.
The rabbit eared cuckoo is adorable... I wish he's what the basic cuckoo looked like so when I set up their pen I could look at a rabbit eared instead of the very strange basic cuckoo.
I liked the harvest coupons and combs.
I liked that there was a PF sale during BBD
I quite like the 3000 baha for the cloud row.

Please put the 2x1 deco item as the first deco item earned and early in the rewards so if people can't finish the quest at least they can easily obtain it if they need it for unthemed cloud rows.

Some of the steps had rather silly requirements. In step 4 the quest wanted 8 delightful rabbit ears for 25 PF and a toolbox....[I'm not mentioning the sticker because almost no one wants a sticker]. Sorry but this is not a reasonable request...

I quite like cuckoos. They are inexpensive to buy so the quest was not too expensive.
I like that the quest could be completed rather quickly so we could get back to farming or BBD.

I will once again tell BP. If BBD's lasted longer and or happened more frequently people will buy more PF. BP will be happier because they will make money and the players will be happier because we will make more progress on our breeding quests.
There is no down side to this... the only outcome is that the prices of the top level breeding animals will come down a little so the only losers will be the ultra rich... and they will quickly find another way to be ultra rich.
Thank you and have a good day!
