April Events

Oh! Our beautiful little Weasel has been turned into a criminal - crime has come to our peaceful, loving,farming community!!
I'm so disappointed! Maybe I'll sit this one out....I'll need to guard my farm now.

*Have really enjoyed being able to leave all that negative-mind-set stuff behind when coming to the farm.*

That was the first thing that popped into my mind!! The second thing was, April 1 is my youngest daughters Birthday.
Crystal is my computer helper, and we have always made April 1 a fun day... soooo, guess I have to have fun with the Event.

Thank you for the heads-up 12ss12, looks like the aliens are bring another piece to the Choo-choo Cloud.

joanc123, glad to hear someone else thought the same thing about this event!

I've decided not to participate in any game based on dishonest practices, and am very disappointed in Farmerama for offering it. It seems against the good and decent games we normally play here, and this one will not be good for the children who trust and play Farmerama....just ask any teacher if cheating is o.k.! Making it seem like a game sends the wrong message to them (subliminally!) Us, too.

It's great to hear of a Mom having fun with her children!! Too soon they grow up! Lol
If you don't mind, may I offer a suggestion? You both often get to play together on the computer - why not make it a surprise treat to do something different this time? The surprise factor might be part of the fun! Just a thought....offered with love.

 

Hi, farmlily! I completely get how you feel about this event. I've worked as a mom and also as an educator. I'm also sensitive about any sort of graphic content in movies, games, books, etc. I so adamantly protected my kids from inappropriate content(it was my job, right?), that now they that they are young adults they joke about it-- all the time. Ok, so maybe I went a little overboard a few times
Anyway, to the point: I don't find this event offensive at all. It's the classic good vs. evil theme, and we are the good guys! We help gather evidence and report it to the proper authorities. The crimes aren't celebrated in this event, they are punished, and we, as good citizens are rewarded for helping stop the crime. It's the same as when we battled to close down Borsty Corp. when it was destroying Farmerama. In fact, Borsty is featured in one of the cloud row items.
Of course, it's up to you to decide what's appropriate for you, and whether or not you'll participate. I just wanted to share my view of the event, in case it may help you change your mind about the central theme of the event.

Your point is well taken if one considers only the "good vs evil" aspect of this Event.

My point - and objection - is a little more subtle and in depth, however. After the surprise of seeing such blatant 'crime' -
"Hostile Takeover" - invading our wonderful, usually peaceful farming community, I, also was seeing it more or less as you have described. But I wondered why it still made me feel uncomfortable.

The human brain is an amazing thing!! It has been postulated that the brain holds everything that feeds into it through all our senses, even our thoughts, and so much more, permanently - even though our c-o-n-scious mind forgets! It is the most incredible piece of equipment we will ever own!!
I agree with you that a Mom's (and Dad's) job is to protect our kids - even from inappropriate content...and there are children here playing this game. Is just one of the s-u-b-conscious messages we want them to take away - that dishonesty and cheating are fun? Of course, that's a simple surface question, and it is much more complicated than what I've mentioned here - perhaps it will be better understood after reading the posts in Gen. Issues.

Sadly, I doubt I will ever see my lovely, sweet Weasels the same again. That's the power of the subconscious.

I'm sorry you have to miss out on an event, but lately it seems Farmerama has events that run nearly back to back, so there's bound to be another one soon. In the meantime, you can catch up on some regular farming.
I think weasels are pretty cute, too. They have a bad reputation because they're known for stealing eggs. But, just look at these sweet faces. Who could think badly of them?

They are cute, especially the white one. I love that one of them has a feline best friend. So sweet.
You won't have to wait long for a fun event. I peeked at the event calendar on another (other language) forum and saw that we'll have an extended MM with additional content very soon. Plus, Renzo's is coming back in April. The month ahead looks very busy!

 

No worries, Sunny! I am so totally 'evented' out that I'm glad to have a break...just sorry/disappointed about the reason for it. I'm actually able to relax and pay attention to my farm - and it is such a relief I'm considering a possible vacation in April.

My previous post here has been deleted. The reason stated for the deletion has no relevancy to my post. It said I did not provide official source for my rumours. I posted 2 google photos - penguin & a tree. I stated they are google photos. As for other rumours they are rumours in words and don't require source. They have been circulation for a day or two in all other forums and only after that I posted here. But my work and strain has been belittled. I have raised questions in the Help Section. I am not in a mood to post further rumours for sometime. Please bear with me. I am working person with heavy physical and mental work load. But I find happiness and pleasure in sharing with you all. I wish to continue and I will. Because nothing can make me go away from this forum as I love the forum and the game. But as of now, I am not in a mood.

I know how hard you work One Two to get the information for us and how many sources you provide for us. Hopefully the Mod will return your post to it's rightful place.

I know this is enough to make some people stop posting in the forum as some farmers have already done. Please don't do that, it's because of you and others like you that I check the forum everyday.

No other forums/moderators require source for this rumour in their rumour thread and none of the players' rumour posts in various other official forums have been deleted stating the reason that they did not provide source for this rumour. I wish to establish my Right to Equality and I am equal as they are and I refuse to be singled out and governed by a different rule.

Please forgive me for being a little confused. If a rumor has a source does it then change it from a rumor to a fact or does it only lead to the place where the purposed rumor and not a fact began? The players here are stating the same thing the FAQ'S state. Until the event begins they are only rumors.

 

And if every forum (Hungarian, German etc) require a source... then how would a RUMOUR leak to official forums, English GW? The whole concept and thinking is wrong.
