BBD staggered offering or coupon

I am not the only one who feels that offering a short term BBD is just plain unfair to a large number of players, even though I myself have been able to participate in the past 2 offerings. It caters to a few who happen to be able to be online when it happens and deprives the rest. Even though you generally say you will have another, it does not make up for the initial loss, when prices spike, when people need to get a jump on finishing levels, etc.

Staggering the offers would help some people, but again, would not help everyone because even people in the same time zones have differing schedules. Some work in the day, others at night, etc, etc. It would be better than just one time, though.

The ideal would be to somehow offer a coupon that would allow people to have their own "mini" BBD" for a limited time.

It might not be possible to do an exact BBD replication in coupon form. If possible, offer one random animal (basically like now), but if that is too complicated for the server, then just offer one gauranteed first level breeding animal per breeding regime. That would not be too different from other buffs, so should be workable.

Folks also might like (in fact might prefer) just to get an increased chance in skips. Like any other "increased chance", you will not doubt still get complaints about folks not getting a skip, so I would lean toward a guaranteed extra, but a skip bonus is another possibility that might be easier to manage technically (?)

Either way, the coupon would act along the lines of a cloud row buff in mechanics (that is, it would be short term and would offer a bonus specific to each farm). You could set the time for just 1-2 hours and require that it be used within 48 hours of being offered. BUT if you do that, be sure to clarify to newbies that they need to use it before harvesting, not before starting their breeding processes!

Even if you cannot do a full and "complete" BBD in coupon form, this would help and would be MUCH more equal than offering a short BBD that only a few can hit.

woody - I like how you are always thinking of new ideas to tweak things in the game. Perhaps I don't fully understand your idea (need more caffeine) but for those that were able to activate their coupon immediately upon being offered, you would still see price changes in the market for those players who could breed early. We are already likely, if not necessarily guaranteed, to get a level 1 breeding animal if we breed regulars outside of baby boom. I think many players only breed during baby boom in order to not only get multiple results but skips too. This idea would guarantee all players to do their own breeding to benefit their farm ahead of the normal longer baby boom offered on weekends but I don't think it will keep market fluctuations from happening.

 

No, this is not about keeping market fluctuations down, its just about giving various time zones the same chance at getting new animals, getting a jump on the events. That is why there would have to be a tight time limit on the time it could be used. I am sure there are some, able to sit at their computer for all hours, who would figure out how to take advantage of this somehow. However, I don't begrudge folks that kind of strategizing. That happens in the 24 hour booms as well. Its just that when farmerama sets the timing so it plain does not work for large segments of the world.. that just does not strike me as right for a world game.
