    Raising animals: Animal housing

    1.png

Cultivating fields might just be fine and dandy, but real farmers know that animals are where it's at.
Ain't nothing better than rising with the sun when the rooster crows to go feed your hens, shear your sheep and milk your cows.

Farmerama has a ton of different animals for you to choose from and raise.
See also the data charts here: {FAQ} Farmerama Animals for all types of animals, their growing times.

You need to build animal housing before you can start raising animals.
Click on the "Animal" tab in the Inventory (box symbol) in the left-navigation menu in the game to see which animal housing you have:

If you'd like to buy some more stables, click on the "Shopping basket" tab, then the "animal" to see which stables you can buy at your current level.

Once you've bought the right building for your animals and returned from your city trip, you'll find your new stable in your inventory on the "Animal" tab in the left-navigation menu.

Drag 'n drop the building you bought for your animals onto your field.

Every building takes up 4 squares (2x2) on the grid.
You can move animal pens and stalls around on your farm whenever you want.

If you want, you can also buy multiple buildings for the same type of animal.
The more buildings you have for animals, the more animals you will raise.

You can also delete your stables by using the Multi-Tool tab. See {FAQ} Deleting Items

The Harvester Helpers : Builder function also optimizes stable placement and deletion.
    See {FAQ} Harvester helpers

    Raising animals: Animal feed

    10.png

Hungry, thirsty or dirty animals aren't very productive.
They'll just stand around doing nothing and won't produce any offspring if you don't take good care of them.
That's why it's important for you to you mix feed for them in the [mill].
    (See also {FAQ} Farmerama Mill)
Only then can you really start raising animals.

Feed is composed of several different kinds of plants and/or fruits depending on its complexity.
See {FAQ} Farmerama Animals to see which crops/fruits you will need to feed each type of animal.

To feed your animals, just click on the stable and click on the 'food trough' icon:

    11.png

The trough on the right concerns Power-feed (see {FAQ} Power-feed)

The Harvester Helpers : Farm Droid function also optimizes feeding all your hungry animals with just one click (as long as you have enough feed in your Mill!).

    Raising animals: Shortening growing time

If you think it's taking too long for those baby animals to arrive you can also speed up the growing time in your stables.

Firstly, you can give your animals water by clicking on the water drop that opens when you click on the stable.

    21.PNG
water.png Water will reduce the remaining growing time by -20%
pf.png Power-feed will reduce the remaining growing time by -50%
upgrades.png Stable Upgrades will also reduce the growing time:

Several animals have coloured upgrades that you can
    • buy in the Shopping Center (Yellow I & Orange II)
    • or build with tools in the City Workshop (Yellow I, Orange II, Red III, Pink IV, Neon V)
Also in the Shopping Center you can find some stand-alone stables that produce animals faster than the base stables:
    • classic 1.png Classic I stables: reduces production time by 10%
    • classic 2.png Classic II stables: reduces time by 40% and give 40% more EP

The Harvester Helpers : Farm Droid function also optimizes giving water and/or power-feed to all your hungry animals with just one click (as long as you have enough resources!).

    Raising animals: Harvesting animals

Once your animals are fully grown, click on the stable and the animals will be transferred to the barn.
If you click on the barn, you can see how many of each animal you have.

Raising animals is a dirty job.
They sure can make a big mess.

    31.png

After you've finished raising an animal, you're going to have to clean out their stalls/pens.
Clicking on the stall, then the Manure symbol will clean out your stall.

    manure.png

Once all the manure has been scooped up, you can raise more offspring.
Shoveling manure will pay off in the end for you as you can use it to fertilize your fields later on.
Your initial manure pile holds 100 units of manure; you can use this and add to it, however, once the manure pile reaches its limit which can be increased on the Tree of Wisdom, any extra will be lost. (See also {FAQ} Manure)

    - - - - - -

    32.png
The Harvester Helpers : The Farm droid function will help you scoop all the manure at once. Please remember that you can only gather the same amount of manure as your Manure Pile capacity. The excess will be lost.
    See {FAQ} Harvest Helpers
