Benefits of comfort fields

Hi. What are the benefits/advantages of using comfort fields? I understand the added yield and ep's, but it seems to me you don't gain that much over just using regular fields and growing more crops in the same amount of time it takes using comfort fields. Am I missing something? Any and all comments are welcome.

One advantage is that if you won't be able to harvest a shorter time crop, you can plant in comfort fields to extend to hopefully fit your schedule. IE: You are working an 8 hour shift and will have no access during that time but really need to grow cucumbers. Instead of the normal crop sitting idle for 6 hours until you come home, you can get a larger harvest while you are gone. The effect of SSG (Suzy's Super Grow) on a comfort field will be +4 instead of +2 during that time if you choose to use SSG on your comfort fields. The longer you will be away from your farm, the more likely you might want to use comfort fields. They can help you avoid coming back to all weeds. (Other alternatives to being gone long periods are to only have pens and trees out as they will not turn to weeds.)

While I don't use comfort fields often, there are uses for them. Others here can tell you more.

 

I mostly use them to grow event crops at night, with supergrow.. or to grow shorter crops for quests that I am working on .

I have also used them just to delay the time when weeds would appear, particularly if I was going to be gone for a full day or so.

 

They have been really good this event combined with sg to maximise event drops, especially if you eat white innocence and the fruity thing whose name escapes me, it drops the time to something more manageable, plus with CAC and SSG it gives 21 plants per field, which is great if you have a stack of SSG to spare.

 

If you don't have Harvester etc and hand harvest they are a good way to build up crops without having to keep harvesting, especially the shorter crops. Yes you do lose a bit but the gain on 'clicking' far outweighs that.
When we go away I use them for the longest crops (18 hour ones) then I don't have to worry if I can't log in every day.

 

I've also used them on Baha where space is really limited to grow some of the short time crops and build up stock. With water and manure grapes become around a 4 hour crop and I can build a large stock of them up without having to be glued to the computer all day.

 

They are also good overnight on bahamarama until you get longer crops

 

Sorry I'm so slow replying, but real life has a way of interfering with important things like this game. Thank you all for your comments! They are really helpful for someone who is still learning the intricacies of this game. You gave me a lot of ideas about how to use comfort fields I never would have thought of. Of course, I've never claimed to be the sharpest pencil in the box either. haha. I will give them a try on Bahama and see how that works out and I definitely can see now how they can save my clicker finger and help minimize my wasted time during the day when I can't be by the computer.

Here are some Pointers about using Comfort Fields...

• When you not got the Harvester Running it is less Clicking than using 1x1 or 2x2 Fields
• Weeds Takes Twice as Long to Appear than Normal Fields
• Suzy Super Grow gives +4 per Crop for Each Comfort Field
• Gives up to Twice as Many Drops than using Normal Fields
• Ideal for Growing Short Time Crops when you cannot Harvest your farm regularly enough
• Ideal for Long Time Crops when you are Away for Couple of Days
• Combine the The Refinement of Super Grow love of Roses or Organic Roses using Supergrow Cloud Row and Buffs can reap crops instantly ...if you have these on your Farm

I also want to mention that comfort fields are now free to use so you can put them out or place them with paying. I know newer players know that but older ones may not have seen this change... I recently took notice of it, I though we still had to pay 100 or 200 CC for them

 

Great for the bank holiday weekend - plant carnations/rye/barley/ whatever you happen to need a stock of and then forget about them for a few days and you can come home to no weeds just crops despite abandoning your farm.

 

Again, I want to thank all of you for your helpful advice. I have been using them on Bahama and can really see the benefits once I started to use them with the short term crops I have available now. I just wish there was something, like the theater, on Bahama that would give us a way to make golden bananas other than just leveling up. It would certainly allow us to expand and do more a lot quicker. I think it would improve the game over all. Sorry about getting off the subject.

Eventually, you will get some quests that will help, and of course the more statues you open (particularly the animal ones), the more EP you get and that helps, too, but it is slow.
