@nortonc No, it's death is long overdue. Just look up "adobe flash player security vulnerabilities" and you'll know the reason why every browser blocks flash and why adobe is going to block flash from running at the end of the year.

Nothing new under the sun, yet doesn't change anything on the fact that so far games (not just this one) run better on flash then on Unity.

Nothing in digital world is truly safe. The moment you turn your internet connected device on you entered the danger zone.

Personally I would prefer waiting for truly functional solution.

Yes, nothing in digital world is truly safe but Flash is exceptionally bad when it comes to security because it lets website execute code as if they were regular programs. It's no wonder Adobe decided to just give up because it's impossible to fix/make secure and other standards are far superior.

I am a casual gamer, user, not IT specialist. I look at software and see if it works, if it does what I want it to do, if it does it smoothly, in simple way, pleasant for eyes, how much resource demand it makes etc. No doubt security is important too. When i see superior platform/software, I recognize it by functionality in all the above mentioned parameters. Unity, taking from what I have seen so far, is not superior at all. It's bulky blob which is slower, more demanding on resources ....... and has no better performance from user end point of view. Might be safer, might be easier for coders, might provide more options for coding ........... until I see undisputed better results in my gaming experience, that so called superiority is useless. I evaluate end product which I use. End product in form of Farmerama game on Unity is NOT superior. :) Until that changes .......... long live Flash which gives me far better gaming experience. :)

'Long Live Flash':D I use a laptop that is as old (older) as this game, seven yrs ago I installed a new OS Windows 7 home edition, one year ago Microsoft said they will no longer support Windows 7 and to upgrade to Windows 10 and get a new computer (How dare them right!?) Unity takes up way to much memory, so I will have to stop playing after 10+ years, I don't want to quit, but will have no choice! Certainly time for a new computer, but not going to spend that kind of money right now for a game

@DBAYES The game runs fine on every PC I've tried, the worst one being a laptop from 2008 with only 2 GB of memory. You can find better PCs that this for FREE

Aaaaah ..... free PC ! Tell me more about that! Where and how? :)

Until about half year ago I was using my dearly beloved IBM Thinkpad 42, from about 2004 or something like that, with 1 GB memory. :) Had to stay on Win XP, but Farmerama still worked fine on that. :) Now I have new IBM/Lenovo gaming laptop. Had to be quick pick as the old one gave up on me just at the start of lockdowns when all computer shops were closed, so no roaming around shopping for the best pick.

@nortonc An office was throwing away their old PCs so I took two of them. You might also find some in recycling center but not all of them will let you in. Anyways.. Your Thinkpad lasted only 16 years? They're the most durable and reliable laptops on the market, so I'm really surprised that it has lasted so short.

I can still make it work. HDD went it's way. Had some struggle with CPU fan, but fixed that by cleaning and lubricating it. HDD is way too old - IDE BUS. Had to change HDD about 6 or so years ago already, and even that was hassle to get new IDE HDD as everything was on SATA already. Nowadays it's even more modern BUS. Could get used IDE HDD, but did not bother. I'm sure it will come my way sooner or later. Was thinking to put SSD instead of standard HDD, which would boost the speed, but there's not space for SSD to IDE adapter. Apart from HDD failing twice, the back light of the screen failed - cheap fix, but laborious. And CD drive stopped reading - not worth replacing. Otherwise yes, it was great laptop for it's time. Fully functional Thinkpad T42/43 (old version, not new Lenovo version) still sells around 120 to 150 GBP. Oh, forgot - weird unexpected problem - left hinge broke, but not the hinge itself as they are super durable. The plastic part to which the hinge is connected. That would probably be the biggest problem. So overall probably not worth any further investment. Still, was my most favorite laptop I ever used.

  10. 11th/1st/2021 no more Flash meaning no more me, I'll check back maybe Feb-March to see if there's any massive improvements on the Standalone version? (Unity won't work for me despite being Windows 10 & joining the Unity Hub for a smoother download of BETA) still at LvL:215 & BAHA LvL:455 I still don't really see a loss, This was alright in the early days plus I've lost a lot more in life! Thank you to Microsoft, Nintendo & Sony who all have farms, Zoo's, Themeparks, Trains simulator games on their consoles if this one hasn't scared you for life?!

Should we hold a funeral service for Flash after it dies? :)

I am so sad to see flash end. I have tried Unity and Stand Alone.....both prove miserable to play. I've been around for 11 years and have thoroughly enjoyed this game and community! :inlove:
If there isn't a huge improvement, I will probably not play as much....or at all.
    So long "Blessed Flash".

I feel the same as you Brookeham but I am confident in a couple of months all the teething troubles will be sorted and the problems will be a distant memory. In the meantime I will most probably change my farming methods to get the best I can from the farm. FW.

I'm feeling kind of fortunate reading through this thread. I'm playing on an almost 14-year-old IMac running the 10.11 OS and I'm not having the same kind of issues a lot of you are having. I have had one major issue with an event window crashing my system. Other than that it's mostly just annoyances such as slow play or the fact I can't harvest all fields without having to refresh the game at least once. Little things like having to go back to the start every time I buy or select something out of inventory. Yes, it's annoying and it does make things take longer but it does not make the game unplayable, at least for me.

I do know that when I had to use Chrome to solve the issue with the event window, the game was otherwise unplayable. If that was my only option then I would also not be playing. That was a major issue with graphics that were completely broken and basic functions that could not be used though not just a slow and clunky game performance. I do think they will continue to improve the performance of Unity and hopefully, even the minor annoyances will be gone.

Maybe it's in part difference in attitude. Most of us come to the game to relax and have some fun. Lot of the things are as you say "annoyances". But while we can still play the game, mostly, in some way, we do not enjoy it this way. It's a broken game, faulty coding, uncomfortable handling ....... call it whatever, but it all is opposite of fun. Since fun has turned into a struggle, nuisance, annoyance ............. what's the point then? My life or income does not depend on the game. If it does not deliver what it should, then it becomes useless. This is entertainment industry. If they can't entertain us .......... well, fill in yourself :)

Wondering if they have to disable flash game, or if it could happily continue for some longer time?

I cannot STAND playing this game on Unity!!! Lagging so long that my buffs expire before I can even harvest. After over 10 years of playing Farmerama, I will probably need to quit. It is no longer fun to play on Unity.

@nortonc This is a game, yes, and I would agree 100% that if you are not enjoying it you should, by all means, stop playing. Instead of walking away "forever" though I would encourage you to take an extended break and maybe revisit your farm in a few months or however long you need to take. You might feel differently than you do now. The gameplay will have hopefully also improved.

I have only recently returned from a very long sabbatical myself and while I didn't leave the game out of frustration or boredom that absence has still had a strong rejuvenating effect for me. In short, I'm happy to be back. ;) So it is as you say a difference in attitude.

As a side note, I also played another online game for many years that was run on flash. I touched base with some friends who I know still were playing it. They weren't given the option of continuing the game it just ended.

I have not made up my mind yet and not gonna rush into any "angry" decisions. I enjoyed the game on flash until yesterday not getting involved in Unity at all after the last forced spell and a couple of quick checks, and now is my first day on Unity. Will take it from here. It is clear though that there will be cuts in my involvement. Instead of struggling with faulty program I will use my time to do something more useful in real life. Or maybe not so useful - look for another game? But I am by no means dumping the game completely at this point. After all I do not understand the difficulties coders are going through in transitioning the game, I just see their product is below standard. And yes, as you say, many other games just disappeared with Flash so we have to give BP credit for keeping on.

I agree %100 with buttons210. After more than maybe 8-9 years playinf Farmerama, today was my worst day like a nightmare.
I do not want this UNITY version or what so ever. Can we go back to the old version?

If not I am planning to quit from the game.
