Definitely not a high priority, but some trees have fruits with names that are very different from the tree. Catalpa, for example, yields angel's trumpets. This is particularly confusing because neither one really has anything to do with reality and, at least in the English version, don't match any other real item. That is, we have Catalpa and Angel's trumpets but they are not the same and nothing like the farmerama pictures. (Angel's trumpets are a vine flower, just as an example; Catalpa is a local common name for a tree with big leaves and seed pods that resemble cucumbers) In itself its no big deal, this is a game, after all. However, if you are not basing the names on something real then why not make the tree and fruit the same?

There are other examples. This might be a translation issue or something else. All but new players figure it out, but its confusing to new people and a minor irritation to others.

Initially, you might want to put them in the market as, to use the above example, Angel's trumpets/catalpa so folks know what they are. In time, that won't be necessary.

Anyway, not a high priority, but please consider it.. in time.

EDIT: Here are the 3 main ones I have seen:

    Catawpa/Angel's Trumpets
    Stone Pine/ Pine nuts
    Fullmoon Maple/Samara
I suppose even oak/acorn could be an issue for a few people, but since that is a legitimate connection, (that is, real oaks do give acorns) and a common tree in t he northern hemisphere, most people have no problem with that one. The others are not so widely known and, as I noted, not really standard names everywhere.

Good Idea. Some of the newer trees bear no relation to the fruit name! So confusing.
Also in England, the Blackthorn tree produces Sloes - not plums!

i spend so much time going back and forth from market to shops trying to figure out what is what. at one point i purchased pine trees thinking i could begin to harvest pine nuts. this is what led me to this post, i cant seem to locate what produces pine nuts. took me awhile also to figure out angel trumpets.
is there no list to show all items and what produces those items?

The rare tree, Stone Pine is what you get pine nuts from. If you want one, the surest way is through the G&T event tentatively scheduled for June.

pine nuts come from the stone pine.

I agree sometimes knowing what fruit comes from what tree is confusing. Even a little note when we hover over the item in question in the donation window would be helpful.

Yep, I'm with you on this one Woody! Like you say it's only a minor thing but it's little things like this that can be confusing! Like the issue with the pheromones/perfume...I think it was you Woody who brought that up also...if it wasn't then sorry but it is a good point and will be especially confusing for newbies!!

Not sure anybody would be in favour of this idea - BBs are way too rare to be spending on regular trees. Surely you have noticed this by now.

Anyway, this idea has nothing to do with purchasing trees. It is about renaming trees so that the name of the tree is the same as the item it produces - for instance, Catalpas actually produce Angel's Trumpets. It would be much easier if the name of the fruit/product was the same as the tree it came from.

Neily, if you are going to add to a thread, you REALLY need to stay on topic.

And.. read or reread the rules for each section, they are posted in the first thread of each forum subsection. Each is slightly different, reflecting the different purposes for each forum subsection.

This is the one for this particular section:

Right now, there are several threads dedicated to small wording changes. Such issues are bound to crop up. Even the best of publishing companies with multiple full-time paid editors goof, so of course there will be errors here, and there is no doubt that they will keep appearing as things are added/changed. Its just "how it is."

What about having a single place where we can quickly post errors. Each problem would only need to be added once, and there would be a single place mods could go when they have the time to tick out the issues. As each is dealt with, you can even tag that item "fixed". Ideally, when there are borderline issues like the red punch, either allowance could be made for discussion or it could be placed in a "OK, what do you think, folks" type thread. However, even just allowing a little discussion of those issue might work as well. (or you could tag the issue as... this one needs discussion, please post in suggestion forum... that way you would keep the grammar/spelling problem thread "clean")

This would simplify things for everyone... give players a quick, single, easy place to post these minor issues, rather than taking up a whole suggestion thread. I suspect it would be easier for mods/developers as well.

We used to have one in the old forum. I think it was called something like lost in translation and was really good.
