Ok, I've finally managed to get a donkey production pen after spending a fortune on toolboxes for the scrap metal. I've just harvested the first cooking pot only to find that it can be sold for the max princely sum of 3959 ccs. What?

There's no way experienced traders will sell rare pots for that price so they will be hoarded for endless months until the price becomes worthwhile.

I suggest the developers set a realistic price for this scarce item by adding a zero to the basic price. Then the market for pots might actually get moving which will satisfy everyone.

The starting market index for something is always the exchange value, in this case 650cc. When it sells for more, the market index will increase, and so will the maximum selling price too. If you just hold on to your cooking pots you will soon be able to sell them for more.

The problem right now is simply that the market price didn't develop yet due to the lack of trading. As soon as more people post offers for the Cooking Pot the price will develop.....if the developers add a zero to the exchange value the problem will be that the market price will first artificially inflate and then after a while go down too far.....But don't be disappointed if the price falls below the exchange value as it happened with a lot Artisan products.
    Anyway, happy farming

The only artisan products that have devalued below their original price are the ones with trees, ie, milk & eggs. The others retain their value reasonably well and fluctuate with demand. The other new rare product, chopsticks, is retaining a high value and will continue to do so for sometime I think. I object that newbie farmers, who do not understand how the market functionsl, will undersell precious items and thereby force the market values up for other traders to make a big profit.

    Thankyou everyone for your input.

The market fluctuates with sell and demand. We have no control on what prices goods are sold or bought. As -Mir85- pointed out, the exchange value is 650cc. If you can sell it at 3959cc's, you are indeed making a large profit already.

Can I assist the OP further?
