Day at the Museum 2 - Strategy

My excavation tool drop rate has not been good either.

I harvested Bitter Ginger since that is my longest crop at this time. I also harvested 27 trees.

I have Harvested the full field 3 times already, on top of the generating all the seeds I need to plant my 160 1x1 plots on the field.

I do have living legend unlocked and am at 24/30 with it. I have no Howies. No cloud rows with grow bonuses.

I am up to a total of 125 tools. So the drop rate is poor. Even for the normal drops it seems low. I am growing the 4hour crop right now.

I just harvested again. Out of 160 1x1s I received this:

21 Excavation Tools

1 Salt

1 Roofing Tile

2 Bricks

4 Nails

plus 49,280 TEP


This means an Excavation Tool drop rate of 12.5% (21/160)

I'll report back later on a compare the the cake event which my drops are super.

I got 104 excavation tools from a full field of lablab-beans on 188 1x1s on a farm with Living Legend rune unlocked + trophies at 30/30 and no other drop-boosters.

If you're able to harvest skullettes 3-4 times a day or ammonitia 2 times a day during the day, with a round of lablab-beans overnight every night, you should have no problem reaching the cloud row as long your trophies are at 30/30.

Those who haven't been able to max out their trophies yet might want to try to squeeze in an extra harvest of event crops during the day to make time for a couple of more rounds of lablab-beans, although this might lead to inconvenient harvest times in the middle of the night towards the end.

Or if you don't mind using super-grow and have a lot to spare, you can try nuking some lablab-beans on 1x2s with super-grow after activating white innocence + fruit cake to make up for missing drops.

The second half should only be attempted by those who really know what they're doing and have well-equipped farms. It's rated "hard" for a reason!

 

I just harvested 70 skulletes with 23/30 in the trophy rune. Only got 3 excavation tools!

I also planted the whole rainforest with cactus, but now I learned no event drops appear on the rainforest.

I'm traveling tomorrow. Combining it with my exams, there is no way I will make any progress in this event. But it doesn't mean I will withdraw completely. Also, I'm finishing the season in 1-2 days and that lifts my mood.

I don't understand some abbreviations sorry for that.. Thank you so much for everyone trying to help.. I used fruitcake and had a +2 plant harvest bonus. I think I can complete the event plants.. But I don't think I can complete the drops, I'm so sorry..

I gave up on the piccolo box at the end of the event. i hope i can collect 710 and open cloud queue..

 

Sorry about the abbreviations - bad habit. I edited my post and replaced all the abbreviations I could spot with the full words.

The tiki timer (I made a mistake and called them tiki masks , which has also been corrected) is a buff that comes from a giver and a cloud row that only some farmers have access to. That's why I am offering to send to anyone who needs one. You can activate it from the barn or from the "consumable items" tab under "decorations" inventory, but you have to do it before planting your tropical vegetables!

You should see a tiki timer in your inventory right about now.

 

Oh my god..! I found a Tiki mask in my inventory. This is the first time I see this. You're so kind @zerodegrees

Will the duration of my skull herbs be reduced when I use this mask? If so that's great..!

 

You're welcome.

It won't work on the skullettes, though. It only works on normal crops that belong to the "vegetable" category on the tropical islands. Skullettes belong to the "event crop" category.

I just harvested trees on 2 other farms under similar conditions (Living Legend rune unlocked + trophies at 30/30 and no other drop-boosters).

Farm 1: 104 drops from 188 lablab-beans (19h crop)
Farm 2: 46 drops from 188 basic trees (20h)
Farm 3: 59 drops from 188 basic trees (20h)

This is why I generally try to stay away from trees for most events. Long duration crops are almost always a safer bet. But every now and then, BP will throw in an event where the drop rate from crops is "abysmal" whereas the drop rate from trees is far better. So sometimes you have to experiment a bit to see which strategy works better for you.

So still 12.5% drop rate off the 4hr event crop. This translates to having to harvest 5,840 1x1 tiles to get your 730 tools required for the 4hr crop portion. For me based on only 160 1x1s that is 36.5 harvests to get the required # of tools. for half the event. Maybe my trees will be better with the drops.

 

what happened to the thread that ppl who needed help with drops went to? i cant seem to find it was it discontinued if so why??

 

I don't think anyone started an SOS for drops thread for this event.

Some events are designed so that we need to spend real money to do the whole thing. These events are generally partly doable and completely finishable if you buy a basket or at least the drop item in the store (hence why this one is rated Medium - Hard). If you go past the midway point (where we get the cloud row) it gets difficult. Partly because this is a fairly short event. We're already down to 92 hours as of this posting. That's under 4 days.

I should have gotten up in the night and harvested, but I was exhausted (busy day yesterday) and actually slept for once, so that didn't happen.

I'll be happy if this farm and PM23's get to the midway point. SL's farm might make it a little past the half-way point...much depends on how much time I can devote to fooling around with this event.

 

@zerodegrees there are also 2 silver buffs to speed up veggies. I just planted the labeans along with my tiki timer and down to under 11 hours Now ready to harvest in morning and still get my 3 harvests in and plant labean again at night Thank you for the tip

Next is the second half of this match. I'll keep planting bell peppers until I've accumulated half the number of drops required for this episode. It's hard to wait for lablab beans to grow. I will continue to plant bell peppers as I am impatient about it.
I collect 56 drops every 3 hours with artisanal products, water and manure (and 9+1 Howies).
This section will be difficult for players below a certain level.

I'm working on the second half too. Drops are not an issue here but harvesting skullettes every 3 hours is starting to get real old.

 

you are awesome @imalattanhalka ..! 56 drops great with bell pepper.. i'll try trying to get to the second.. Now I bought the pangolin barn on the first line and I've come to the end.. There are currently 347 drops accumulating. if i collect the 710 drops needed for the cloud line i will be able to imagine the second round

 

I moved into 2nd half last night before bed. I've gotten a couple of farmwheel bonuses to make the crops easier and drops are doing ok. 560 drops needed to finish and 2 full days of farming to go. Can it be done? I think so...
