Dazed @ Confused, refinement

Ok, I am tryin' to get this and it seems I messed it up, go figure. Learning is hard

I went to refinement, the only thing open was oats, I then just went ahead and did corn, as I want corn.
All the free boxes are for oats only, I am going to assume I should do oats not corn.

I am going to swallow this one, as I need back into the game crops a needing to harvest.
But I am asking I got this:


I don't know if I should go again, or quit and wait till I got more time in, <more to loose, less of a hurt>

Anyone got any ideas? I don't want to quit, I want better time on corn/strawberries, and a few more.
Do, I have to buy a box to have a choice?
I don't see me doing that. I can wait.

I read were others say it takes many many tries and I am ok with 15-40 tries if need be, but I just want to know if I am doing this right at this point or am I way off.

When you talk about the free boxes, do you mean these?

Because that is where you put the refinements you have, when you want to use them. If oats was the only thing showing up, it means that oats is the only crop you have any refinements for.

To get a refinement you will need to do this:

Judging from the screenshot you posted, you did try to get a refinement for corn. You just didn't find any, which is perfectly normal, you just have to try again

Yes, you got me that is right were I am.
I thank-you, as long as I am on the right trail I can go with it.
I will keep trying crops. I picked corn because I use so much, thought that would play into this.
I am level 70 so maybe I will try a longer crop. Read were short term crop not good, but man, that would be great to have!

I found that the refinement thread up under game strategy - the one started by Arrouquelas - that is a marvelous thread with all sorts of helpful info about refinements.

I seldom seem to have enough crops to do a refinement and the few I have done, I've found that Arrouquelas is right, you don't get much benefit for anything less than strawberries. Remember 5% of an hour is 3 minutes, 10% is 6 minutes. So with that in mind, you can guestimate the time savings pretty easily (for that particular refinement, anyway).

 

Oh yes, I am rereading it and others, takes a bit for things to get in my head.
I am thinking of doing hazelnuts, I see where they will be needed for recipe, they really take forever!
