I thought I had a lightbulb moment today and pulled out bog plots carnation and roses, SG and the lot. Only to discover that I got the same number of drops from fields as from event crop. I guess I should have used a higher Watt in the lightbulb for those light bulb moments
I am sitting at 917 crop, and pretty low on SG.
Now I think I had a dim moment, or the bulb went bust , who knows, I didn't try roses/carnation overnight in 1x1, but events crop. yeah.. might be another one of those whopsie moments.
I am having fun tho, and I am trying.

Talking about refinements.. at the moment I use Iris as long term crop, beside the extra drops for doing so, the refinement gives a great boost on the Wooden Mallet tool. It's the best tool to hand in on FSQs which ask for tools. To get refinements for long term crops definately is something worth going for! Do skip the short term crops thou. You won't really benefit from 10% time reduction on a crop which runs for 1 hour or less.

Event wise I gathered half of the amount needed for crops. My drop total is in the low 800. Therefor I decided not to grow the event crop overnight anymore. Today I'll have 2.5 fields filled with +16 hrs crops. Figured out I can do the remaining Event Crop during the day only, using 1.5 field for those and 1 field for long term crop. Meanwhile I'll keep my storage buildings running on 0.5 field as those give a good bunch of drops on every harvest.

left and right side done...... on step 6 on main....still to early for me to see if i am gonna make this one.... as to much is needed still.. mainly on the drops..... that will be my hang up....

for those who wishes to refine.... don't take my word for it.... but for me.... doing the medium seems to work best.... i had had a few that never gave me anything also..

 

yeah, I could never get much of anything to refine on either farm...so I pretty much gave up on that. What I do use all the time, though is the time reducers from the alchemy trade, or that cloud row that shortens flowers time. And then theres the blender in the spa trade...which sometimes gives a time reduction, too...although it's a crap shoot as to what you get so there can be a lot of waste with that one.

Anyway, I think any crop that runs at least 12 hours or longer before water and manure will give better drops overnight. Much depends when I get the crop put in - if it's early enough in the evening, or I know I'm going to be very late with the morning harvest, I'll put in a really long crop for better drops.

 

WHOA! Just harvested 122 drops from a field with Iris (201 plots 1x1). Highest drop drop I've seen in 2 years!

You're right dumbunny, at times I too choose and plant my overnight crops as early as 8:30PM, other times it's around midnight

One more round of event crops to go I'm falling a bit behind on drops, but I guess switching to longer growing crops will help. I have planted refined carnations with water and manure for the night. Think I've made up my mind to not do the last 4 parts of the right progress bar, but I might change my mind tomorrow

 

For those looking for a good overnight crop for drops I can highly recommend Refined Raspberries. I have both of the Early Bloomer refinements as well as the Water Love refinement. With the Mandrake Powder & Aroma of Love buffs, manure & water brings this 17hr 48min crop to under 9hrs. Refined Carnations work best if you have the Flower CR (I don't) but it has a 48hr cool down to take into account. If manure or buffs are too expensive, with just water about 10 1/2 hrs. Which is how I often do it.

I also change from 1x1 plots for event crops to 2x2's (44), 2x1's (5) & 1x1's (16) Main & Green Meadow fields to use less manure. I have not noticed any real difference in drop rate 2x2's vs 1x1's (been doing it this way for a year & a half), I do have 4 Howie Donuts I move from field to field. Which is also how I would set up to use SG with WI & FC, that brings crop time to between 2 & 3 hrs (haven't done it this way for awhile). I'll use a Melon Magic when harvesting the Raspberries for a little extra bonus.
Event crops during the day & refined Raspberries at night have worked well & allowed me to complete most events.

End of day 2 and I have 554 drops total (from yesterday & today). I have to work all weekend, so I'm going to be planting lilies (watered) while away at work each day, perfect amount of time for that. Then I'll finish event crops: 5,309 left to go. Then I will keep planting barley (my longest growing crop) till remainder of drops needed is [hopefully] reached.

Almost done with right sidebar; still working on vanilla, then onto the last one: pineapple. (Completed the left side yesterday easily as I already had all the tree fruit needed.) Can't wait to start working on the main bar! Hope I get enough drops to complete this event; I want that CR badly!

I think they must have upped the drop levels - yesterday I was stunned by 74 and 66 drops from Spelt, today I was completely amazed at 137 and 139 drops from Spelt! In contrast, all my goodies in the Glade only yielded 47!

Not complaining ... uh uh, not me.

 

I was kinda thinking that too, Illy since I got 80 from a field of onions, but my two other fields gave me 40-something from event crop (my dim moment).Which is around the same amount as yesterday. But defo go 1x1 for drops for this event. I'm sure that pays off.

Edit: I did it, I went batty. Traded in my hippos from under the bed into the last level of trophy. Not for the +1%, but for the tick - done mark of the quest. It's official, I'm one sandwich short of a picnic. I'm also broke, and with hippos left on the market to buy. Now come on my little chickens, no constipation please.

Can I join you in that picnic, Moraine (edit) and Nellie? I spent 15 million CCs yesterday just to finish off some FSQs that have been around forever! The prizes were well inferior to the price I paid but it was so nice to get them into the finished box!

I have now raised the levels of some other FSQs so that they are in my "favourites". I do not have the stuff to donate to these but it is a reminder of what I need to go for next in the Temple.

As far as this event goes, I am ticking along nicely with both drops and crops, doing Spelt overnight cos that happens to be the highest crop that I need. I have less of them than Carnations, Rose Hips and Foxtail Millet so I am building my stocks of the lower crops - unless drops become a real issue!

Today I got 332 drops from two fields of RoseHips and one of Roses as I did not have enough manure to do a third fields of Rosehips.
I have a total of 558 1x1 plots. Today I am getting as much manure from Baha as I can, and if I get to my maximum of 550 on the manure pile will put some for sale at a very expensive price and hope it is still there when I cancel the sale - this still works out much cheaper than having to buy.
Nearly done on the event crops - just one more harvest and a part harvest needed.
Other farms are coming along nicely too.

 

I have got 906 so far...refined carnations gave me 145 marble rocks
WOW spelt seems to be a giver of drops and Rose hips
will put a field of each in tonight

98 from a field of 1x1 oyster mushrooms with trees around the edges and no howies.

 

Yesterday I thought it looked like they tweaked the drops but didn't want to jinx it but apparently they did I just need the last 4 steps and I will be done!! That's only another 1000 drops May the drops keep coming for everyone!!

 

This morning's harvest brought 103 drops but it was still from event crop overnight. About to plant lilies for better drops while I'm away at work all day, then resume event crops when I get home. I should be able to reach the amount needed tonight. Have a fun day of farming everyone! May the Drop Goddess smile upon you!

 

I used refined carnations to finish the event.
When we found out about them, we first thought it was a glitch so I spent all my SG on that.
But after all this time, it's the easiest way to get all those event drops.
Besides, lots of goodies come along
