The Steam Room for me was our funny place. Were we Steamed about all the mistakes BP made... We could "kick off" and have fun with each other. Did it ever get out of control.. I don't remember, must have tuned out if it did... I MISS the fun of the Steam Room.. :)

BoHo - I agree that it could be funny that is what I miss, too, but there were several times that it got out of control. It created many out of control controversies and disrespect. Peoples' feeling got hurt and created separation. Sometimes people would leave the game. To be clear, these controversies did not always happen in the Steam room.

I have away of blocking unpleasant memories so I don't remember the specifics - just the losses.

@hatzeva , I have 1,006 crops and 122 drops so far. I am not doing refinery and have not bought any crops from the shop...yet!
    I hope this helps you!;)

Oh yes BoHo it could get real steamy too but every time it did it was usually one farmer who wanted to pick a fight, and most of us chose to ignore and carry on the game-related moans about crops, drops, and BP of course ;)

Back then we were so few and knew each other that well that when HazelUK did a Mystery Farmer for Christmas one year, it took just a couple of days until all mysteries were solved! Today I don't think that in-game-game would be possible but it's a challenge for anyone that's up for a challenge.

sanddollar - thank you! It's a great help right now. We're in the middle of moving from our apartment in Stockholm to a house in the country, so farming is very, very limited and FQ's reading nonexistent.

    Happy Midsummer all!

I went to the stadium and noticed: Week 2 ends in 5 days and 14 hrs.
That's a long time to go dealing with only harvesting a very small amount of crops a few times a day.
Knowing it'll go on like this for another 2 weeks after this one is over is near unbearable.
This event definately isn't a winner.

I'd say it is a natural response to company becoming more businesslike. I remember Farmerama from the past as a player focussed game and I think that is what brought it to it's glory. The game was fun, though stereotypical at times and boring, but the efforts to make players happy were nearly tangible. Then many supported the game cause we just loved it. At that time I was buying tractors and mill speed and other treats a lot more then now. Since then the game developed, changed, become a lot more cash drain focussed. When the game cared about me, I cared about the game. Now the game want's to make business with me and that draws a business like response. To a friend you respond with love and care. To a salesman you respond with caution and demand. In nutshell, it's the gamemakers who set the primary tone.

Also, although it is true that we don't have to play everything and can chose, comparing it to a menu is not very helpful. With menu (if talking about restaurant) we chose, get fed, and that's it. We don't miss anything. With the game events it is different cause events are often interconnected to the game in such a way that when you skip them you block your progress or ability in other areas. While real menu provides variety to chose from, there's rarely a sense of overload as it is here with events. I would take it as a menu in computer typology though if these evets were available to a player untill they succesfully completed them

Hatzeva _ I missed your on topic question.

I went back through the thread and made a chi-sheet for myself of the goals that I need to hit each week to be on track. These nubers are based on Mir's numbers - not sure of the post # & I can't do the hyper-link thingy.

week 1 we need 588 crops
    week 2 1,176 + 588 = 1764
    week 3 1764 + 1764 = 3,528
    week 4 1764 + 3528 = 6888

These numbers are based on doing 3 harvests a day.

We need 6750 crops and 300 drops to make 15 red flags to get the CR (can't remember who gave these numbers. Thank you)

My new strategy is to grow till I reach the weekly goal. Anything over that amount then I can do the FSQ (what self control on my part - lol)

In case I haven't told you today, I love smart math people who share their knowledge. :inlove:xD:inlove:

Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! I hate when the days start getting shorter...

I've completed all of Quests I & II and now I'm making more crops for the next one. I got 7? blue flags from Q-I and now I have 13 blue flags, from Q-II?, waiting for me to find the time to play soccer. I have 66 SC waiting to get spent, in addition to 200+ crops and 55 drops. I bought the 200+450 crops from the Shop. Plus I have the other goodies from the Qs. I haven't made any blue flags yet. Waiting til after I have the new CR. Not doing any refining either.
It's humbling not being able to use CAC, etc. I'm an event driven player so event crops are my primary occupation. They're quick and easy right now. Most of the rest of my farms are critters which I usually ignore.
If I was more into FSQs and the Market and other things I would be able to do what I really want to do and harvest event crops as a sideline this month. Seems like a win to me. Easy. Not terribly demanding except for logging in every 3:36h, too often for my preference but... otherwise relaxing and allowing me time for RL.

24h / 3:36 = roughly 6.8 harvests per day depending on whether one has a RL or plans to sleep. I think I've been getting 5 per day. Don't feel like trying to calculate and don't record that stuff anymore.

I was thinking about HazelUK the other day while watching the Royal Wedding. Hazel had/has a great sense of humor. Hope she and her family are doing well.

Hatzeva, that's exciting. Best of luck with the move. Sounds like a really good move. Enjoy. I hope you still have internet in the outback... lol!
I have some Native American friends that in the process of buying some acres in the foothills of California, very beautiful area, so the kids can get outside and they can get some horses. I'm very excited for them too.

I don't miss the Steam Room. Too much negativity, bullying and personal attacks. Super depressing. Constructive criticism and lively debates are one thing but the Steam Room got out of control way too often. I stopped reading it and not sure when it went away.

    EDIT:
Forgot... During the first week I was getting 0-4 drops from 2x2 plots. 4 drops from 7 large plots is more than 50% so I switched to 1x2 plots and got 0-5 drops. I'm sticking with the 1x2s or 1x1s for drops, even tho I seem to be in good shape with them.

Good luck everyone and try to look on the bright side of things... ;)
Try to look at challenges as an opportunity rather than focus on the worst case scenario.

Maybe "hate" was too strong a word... I'm still doing what I can with this event, it's just not my cup of tea, I guess. Mostly because I've just got too much going on in real life. I've considered taking a break from farming, but every day I find myself checking my farm and at least doing what I can. I don't have near so many of this event crop as Hatzeva...and I probably won't ever get there - as I mentioned above, I'm happy with what I'm getting from the quests, so there go my event crops.

Weeeeeel, I remember the good old days too, there was just as much complaints about BP being greedy.
I disagree, not more - not less. Back in the good old days sugar and such dropped much rarer, so if you wanted to use Cac often you had to buy sugar. Now - no need. If you wanted rare stables & trees, you pretty much had to buy them for real cash. The times BP handed out freebies were even rarer than the trees themselves. Now I don't bother to buy cos I get them handed out during events, farm coin shop, quests, G/T and train.

I buy now less than on my old Bella-B farm. Even if BP has probably become a bit more professional about balancing the freemium and premium. It isn't about how much you spend, but how you choose to spend your resources. Time spent playing is one resource. Players that have a lot of time on their hand to play have a huge advantage. Money can make things smoother, but unless you spend big it can not compensate for time spent playing. The normal retention rate for a F2P game is less than 10% after a year (interesting enough players that started when the game is new tends to be those that play the game the longest).

Sorry mods for going a bit off topic. I'd love to discuss this in a thread of it's own.

More on topic: I have mixed feeling about this event.
Stressfree - good, but then I seldom fuss anyway. Field of its own - yes yes more more of that. No buffs - yup all good there too.
Then it is the slooooooooooooooow wait, and log in every 3,5h - which I tend to forget. That is the killer. The greenhouse is also such a missed opportunity. I tried it once, got nothing and EP. Ep is nice, but it sorta doesn't get me excited. Since I forget to log in, I can't "waste" crop on playing the mini game.... so it's a pure waiting game.

So far I've bought up the extra oleander in the shop for both weeks; I saved 1300 so far, and quest 2 I started/realized I would sabotage my stock.
Getting 56 every 3.5 hours if I can, this isn't working out for a working person. So it will be 5 and a half weeks from now I must/might have the stock to make a red flag...nowww I get it...the red flag was to warn us that we are watching MOLASSES RUN UPHILL IN MINUS 20 WEATHER. If you can visualize that then you are playing this event correctly people

I bought a Russian Blue flag giver, to have something else to do every day. USA not in finals, Russia might get an upgrade or two.
Spent star coins on extra crops and sticker.
Trying to think of this as an FSQ that I want to finish, but do not have the space to do it QUICKLY!!! :p

I did all of quest #1 but I'm skipping quest #2 entirely. It wants too much of my precious crops and drops, plus both of my farms already have hippo and ceiba tree. Maaaaybe I will do quest #3, but not worrying about it right now.

I seem to be right on track with everyone else regarding crops and drops. Will not touch the mill for blue flags; waiting for the red flags to become available to mill. Once I start contributing red flags I will get plenty of blue ones to play with.

Yes this event is I am 100 percent right on is NOT for a working person... I am no where close... I have no idea what I need to do at this stage.. I am so lost...feel so far behind.

I found the answer to my question I asked earlier. It is in week 4 for that giver. @clonahmon Thank you.

Question... when will we get the

I am plodding on. I decided to do Quest 2 and think - :wuerg: - I should be able to get enough crops and drops for the main part if I can do at least three but at best four harvests a day. In the (not quite) two weeks so far, I managed to get the 2,220 Oleanders and 77 Sticks for Quest 2 (but this did include buying the 650 Oleanders in the shop) and, with increasing numbers of plots for the next two or three weeks remaining, I guess that I should make it. Am I dreaming or does it seem possible? :music:

I quite like a long event but there's nothing much to do in between harvesting. Once the Quests were done, the goals scored (or not!), it's back to staring at the stadium. o_O Oh, and loading up the Tree Train (nothing special there! Yet!). Oh, and not forgetting hunting the worm! xD
Wish I had done some painting so I could watch it dry! :D

Too much excitement, we need to save that for a time when there's a really slow and boring event.
