confused...it said I could change my nickname. So, I did and the log in did not recognize it when I tried to log in later. Is the change just for the forum?

Yes, the username change is just for the Forum. The account usernames cannot be changed, I am sorry. This feature was removed from all Bigpoint games almost 2 years ago.​

 

The changes to the forum are BAD!

1) There seem to be less threads, which means it is harder to find topic as everything is merged.
2) Maybe there aren't fewer threads, just fewer visible per page. One has to scroll to see all threads in a topic. Ah BP, when will you learn, more clicking/scrolling is NEVER good!
3) Loss of event countdown timer!!!! Not that I'm opposed to having the CEST time posted somewhere in the forum, but why do I get directed to a different site for this information? Why not have the time omnipresent in the top corner of the forum screen?
4) No Steam Room! I very rarely posted here, but I enjoyed reading it. The mods liked directing us there. It promoted free-speech. The lack of a steam room is no doubt a ploy to have less complaining on the forum. Maybe people wouldn't complain if things didn't keep changing.

ETA: It's not that reorganizing the forum was a bad idea, it's that BOTH reorganizing and visualing changing it, is TOO much all at once.

There are indeed less threads at the moment but hopefully we will soon have more. Some sections are gone, indeed, since the entire structure has changed, but a common structure has been chosen for all the Forums. There definitely isn't more scrolling and clicking though, the new platform is more user friendly than the old one.

The loss of countdown timers is one of the things that saddened us as well, and I completely understand your frustration. At the moment, posting the link to an external website where the CEST is displayed was the compromise we came up with, but suggestions for a calendar / timer / clock has been forwarded to the Team already.

As for the lack of steam room (one of the categories that has disappeared), I also understand your point of view. But the Forum structure is final and it's not going to change, since as explained, it has been a global decision. This doesn't mean we want less complaining on the forum - constructive criticism is always appreciated - we have to know what makes you all unhappy so we can forward the feedback to the Team, and so, reaching the ears of producers, game designers, etc. Having all the steamy angry posts in one place was indeed a good idea, now it's going to be spread across the entire Forum so it was definitely not done to decrease the amount of venting.

I liked the look of the old forum better because visually, it appeared to be neater (though that's just a personal preference), but aside from that and the countdown loss, I think this forum is an improvement. For one thing, it's a lot easier to use. The new search function is less confusing to me than the old one and I like the option to "watch" threads or forums so I don't have to keep bookmarking pages

I was so proud to have gained my status as Forum Apprentice and knocked back to a Greenhorn. Sigh. But that's ok. I miss the Steam Room too, but the game has changed so much over the last few years, it was time the forum caught up. I'm going to give it a few weeks to grow on me.

 

I have to agree that the new platform is more user friendly and the search and watch functions may come in handy later when there are more threads. I do have, not really a question or complaint, but more of an observation, concerning how closely this new platform resembles facebook. I just had a chance to really check all the options in the menu that drops down when you scroll across your username. Status updates? Likes? Notable members based on number of posts and likes? (Not on the drop down, but accessed by clicking on the Members online at the top right of the homepage.)

I am very happy to be able to add the current Event FAQs there as well, it's going to be a nice reminder for everyone seeing what's going on every day.​

 

if we don't forget to click the new tab that is! I keep forgetting that it's thère!

 

I really like the new monthly calendar, as well as the daily reminder calendar on the sidebar. The link to the FAQ makes it a very useful guide. Good job!

I'm getting used to this new forum (I am one of those that has a hard time with changes).......and I love, love the new calendar!!!! My question is how get to use the new smilies??? I can't find them....
