I have a question when doing these events I hear a lot of ppl saying that they are going to use the 1x1s is that better than using the 2x2s? and if so why?

 

If you can afford to run CAC and have the harvester (sub, coupons or FSQ rewards), after you have used 2x2s to get enough event crops to place on all the 1x1s, it will allow you to accumulate the numbers of event crops needed faster without other buffs. If however, you cannot afford CAC and you must hand harvest, you are better off using 2x2s the entire time. This allows you to get better use from your manure, water and SG (especially if you have SG enhancement buffs running) to speed up your crops and get more harvests to gain the numbers needed.

 

To further what SC said, CAC gives you 2 extra items per plot, so if you use 1 X 1, you get a lot more items than if you use 2 x 2. However, that is of the most help once you have enough to fill your fields with 1 X 1. You can get a similar, but lesser benefit by using Pumpkin jam if you cannot afford CAC. It gives 1 extra harvest item per harvest. The harvester has no impact on the amount of harvest, its just that its a lot easier on your hands if you have the harvester function and can do the harvesting all with one click instead of piecemeal.

I disagree on the using 2 X 2 issue, though. IF you have Supergrow, but not CAC, then your best use of it is to use comfort fields. This is also the most "cost effective" use of Suzysupergrow, unless you are willing to buy huge quantities, since unlike the CAC, it will add a percentage increase. Many people grow 1 X 1 during the day and then use comfort fields with Supergrow at night, since the return is roughly the same as one harvest of 1 X 1 with CAC.

One other, more controversial point is that you might get more drops from 1 X 1 than 2 X 2. As I said, this is disputed and may even be something that is true sometimes, but not always. Mir has gone into this more, but basically, its because you get a random chance of drop for each plot, so more plots means more chance. However, the chance seems to be "scaled", that is you get more chances with 1 X 1 perhaps, but the drops that would come from each plot is more from larger plots/longer pens, etc. This has been discussed more thoroughly in the strategy section, so I won't go into it here.

 

Another alternative if you are hand harvesting and have either Carrot Apple Chutney or Pumpkin Jam running, is to use 1x2 - granddaughter used to do that - it was a happy medium. I used to do all 5 farms with 1x1 plots!

The 1x2 with CAC is a good tip farmerumf, I used to do that too during events, before I started buying the machinery.

 

ok I guess I should have been more specific I was talking about during events like the one coming up does it give you more drops to use the smaller fields? and is it worth it?

wow...really? I never thought to do 1x1's. I do use comfort fields at night and some during the day with super grow/ I am going to try this 1x1 and see how it goes...it just sounds like a pain to do the who lot of 1x1....wish me luck

Forgot that I dont have to individually put them down...the yellow truck in the harvester does it...whew

 

If the drop rate is high and you are growing a long crop you can get more drops from 1x1 than 2x2. But with an 5 hour event crop I doubt this will be the case.

I can only say what I would do: Without harvester and seeder I wouldn't switch to 1x1 plots in the hope of getting more drops. On the other hand with harvester and seeder I always use 1x1 plots & CAC, but mainly for getting extra crops.

 

I am going to partake in this experiment. I changed all my fields to 1x1 . we will see how how goes/
