Tropical plants need warm weather to thrive. Consulting my handy virtual Farmer's Almanac...
We will have snow on the main farm in less than two months. Best to grow the ferns indoors during the winter... I'l use the dispenser to get starter seed then retire it.

I expect this event will be "easy" for me because I have all of the tropical fields fully open, Baha/RF/CF. I'm going to try not clearing CF. I've kept it filled with pens and trees for months now. Don't want to change it. 580 drops / 4 days = 145 drops per day. That's a rather middle/low number of drops. I'll be done with the Nublonians by tomorrow so I'll plant some saguaro tomorrow in preparation. 10,500 crops... roughly 1k per harvest from two fields using CAC means it will take me around 10 well watered harvests. That's probably 4-5 per day for me and some roughly 12h crop overnight, I'll have to do some thinking Mon on which crop I will have time for and which alchemy to use to speed things along.

I expect this event will be "hard" for anyone that only has one tropical field open and only short timed crops for preparation. They will need roughly 20 event crop harvests using CAC every 4h is 3.5 days growing and harvesting 24/7. Medium for someone that has two tropical fields open and longer crops.

I expect to do all of the event, concentrating first on what I need for the dispenser.

It is to the advantage of anyone wanting to advance their Baha fields aka gain GBs, to grow as many of the event crops as possible, as quickly as possible, during this time. That also increases the drops. If I was in need of GBs is would grow them in preference to regular crops. The FSQs will be there forever...

Yes... its a misprint. What is meant is Fern, mainland Fern.
It should be corrected soon.

So I won't start this event. Good luck to everyone
For me there is no confusion for the two Fern, I know I won't be growing any of them
But of course I should thank everyone for taking time and trying to figure out what's going on with them

 

You will be able to grow the mainland fern after some plants hit the market, so if you are focusing on the current starship event maybe it's better not to be distracted.

Only strategy needed for any junking event is to junk like a junker and read faqs after a day or two.

Did the most stupidest thing. I did not prepare the fields for the event. Everything was full of animals & crops. SO no drops except for the lone pipette sent by my neighbour kibsnfebs. Actually on seeing the gift pop up, I realized that the event was under way. All my thought was on preparing for tomorrow's carnival event. Now there are atleast another 20 pens - orange, pink to be harvested.

 

The drops should not be a problem.
They came out unexpectedly generous + I even got some drops from grapes while I was waiting to fill all fields with tropical fern.
The tropical fern fields in 2x2 plots gave out around 10-14 drops per field.

 

oops ! soo sad 12ss12...No worry, drops seems to be generous and you are wise enough to cope up...Good Luck !

 

Thanks xristos-ale3andros & kibsnfebs. I got 3 drops from grapes and 10 from 20 ferns.

 

Got my first Fern seed (task 5 silver). Figured out it's already useable on the fields, we don't have to wait for the event to end.

Finished on all three farms. Main farm finished Sunday because of bonus harvest from wheel. Ferns are growing on mainland.

My forgetful mind...... playing tricks, I found the lost dispenser!! Yay!

During the « Funky Fern Project » event quest, 104 hours, time remain 75 minutes, the Farmerama user get 20 event crop seeds as soon as island level 001 be reached.

Task 1, silver: 800 Tropical Ferns + 10 Pipettes;
task 2, silver: 900 Tropical Ferns + 10 Pipettes;
task 3, silver: 1000 Tropical Ferns + 10 Pipettes;
task 4, silver: 1100 Tropical Ferns + 10 Pipettes;
task 5, silver, gold and diamond: 2700 Tropical Ferns + 220 Pipettes.

Overall needed to get the Fern Dispenser: 6500 Tropical Ferns and 260 Pipettes (= 65 Small, 26 Medium or 13 Large Fernarama Baskets).

The Fern Dispenser gives every 20 hours one Fern seed. Fern is available as soon as the Farmerama user reachs mainland level 070. Barn Value: 200.
