Oh! Dear Diary - I must tell you now
That David has worked magic, and how
He showed me the Universe all in one Cave!
It was amazing! and still makes me rave!

A cave full of Glow worms, each shining his light
All over the walls, especially at ceiling height
Just like the stars in the New Zealand night!
It was so A-w-e-s-o-m-e...an incredible sight!!

Then David took us way out on a boat,
Dolphins playing with us, made my heart float!
David, dear David! He sure knows how to please me..
I'm in love with his Country! (Him, too? Could it be??!)

Oh! If it's true, I can't let him know it!
I'm much too shy-and I'd certainly blow it!!...
But I remember the 'Universe' that shone in his eyes
As we floated amidst those Magic Glow worm skies

And I feel dizzy, like under a spell....
So just how can I know it-how can I tell?!
I don't know! I'm confused! OH! I just don't care!
Is this First Love? Eeek! - oh, my heart, please beware!!​

 

My girl Lily she's is buzzing with delight
The glowworms were like stars in the night
She's been holding my arm like she doesn't want to let go
And that is a feeling that I so want to Grow !!!

We had soooooo much fun on the Te Anau trip
Looking at the dolphins from that fishing ship
I am so proud to show her all of these sights
And I quite like these feelings, I am filled with delight.

I have seen Lily, glancing at me, kinda shy
As she looks through her hair, with those liquid pool eyes
A moment apart seems to be like a week
I long for her touch and a kiss on the cheek

I have trouble remembering the time before she came along
Way back before I sung her that song
I know that without her, well, life seems just all wrong
What Are all these feelings, that are coming on strong????

From the moment I awake, my thoughts are of Lily...
I rush down to breakfast, it's her I want to see
And that first glimpse is electric; my pulse always quickens
One morning, she had left earlier and my heart sickened...

Lily and I caught up with my Mum and Dad
Marigold and fiance Jason and of course photographer Chad
Mum couldn't believe Lily was still fond of me
And Dad, well he just seemed really proud, for all to see.

Next day is the wedding so we are having an early night
I need lots of beauty sleep, or will give all a fright !
Everyone is looking forward to the wedding and the Ball
I blew a kiss to Lily, who was with Bethy down the Hall.

Dear Diary
Oh! The wedding is tomorrow! I can hardly sleep!
It's all so exciting! To rest tonight I'll be counting sheep!!
We're staying in a castle...Sooo Romantic - I can't even say!
Then there's a Ball, yes...just like Cinderella in a real life play!!

I'm staying here with Aunt Bethy, and she is such a dear...
And with David as my date, it's becoming very clear
There is something very special that sparks when we do touch...
We have so much fun together, it almost seems too much!

But now, Diary Dear, it's to sleep that I must go
For tomorrow is the wedding- I want no tears to flow
Because I am too tired...everything must be just right!
So now I'll close my eyes to dream-but first...turn off the light!!​

 

The day of the wedding dawned wonderful and bright
Everything had a great feel, things would turn out just right!
As Lily got ready, she was filled with delight....
In her bridesmaid's dress, what a beautiful sight!!

Chad was as busy as a bee collecting its honey
Taking pre-bride pictures, and he was earning his money
A plane circled low overhead - it was my Uncle Tom !
He was bringing our relatives; Queenstown they were from.

Dad figured out that they wanted somewhere to land
There was a flat paddock on the hill close at hand
Just a few wee white obstacles that the farmer did keep
We all headed to the field to go chase the sheep!

Oh Lily, you can stay -your dress is not field gear
And dress boots in a field - not the best thing to wear
But there was no stopping her from getting involved
There was time before bridesmaid duties evolved

We got in a line to herd off the sheep
but some wouldn't go: had they fallen asleep?
Oh, you know what it's like ; things don't go as planned
and the poor aeroplane still has nowhere to land

If six sheep go one way, then things are just right
But when six sheep go ten ways! Oh what a sight!
We shouted and waved, and got no response
Lily headed their way: will they do what she wants?

The sheep ran from Lily, I don't think they knew
what to make of that dress, such a bright hue !!
It wasn't long before the plane got to land
Everyone cheered Lily, and she felt rather grand

She stood on one foot, while I unsullied each boot
We began heading back, to the sound of a flute
When Chad suggested Lily pose on a slope
To steady her, he said "hold to that rope."

But that rope was untethered and it seemed to us all
In a matter of moments, Lily surely would fall
I had visions of Lily's super grand dress
following some others , ending up in a mess!!

Lily's look of panic stirred in me awfully deep
As she struggled , her balance, trying to keep
I caught her, and lifted her clear of all harm
And back to the wedding, with her on my arm!

It's such a great feeling to save the girl that I love
even if half the credit goes to help from above!
Lily's smile was radiant filling me full of hope
Our connection deepened by that faulty rope

A few touch-ups later - back in the entourage
Her gratitude evident, giving me the courage
To dream of one day, us being a long term team
And Marigold's wedding maybe starting a theme....

Oh Dear Diary!
There is never a dull moment with David around!!
I never know what to expect-but it's Fun, I've found!
The morning was beautiful, and looking grand,
Till David's Uncle Tom needed a place to land!

Uh Oh!! Only a sheep pasture?? To land a plane??
Of course! Where else can he enough ground to gain!!
So off we went chasing s-h-e-e-p, of all things!!
Ha! Can't wait to see what the afternoon brings!!

First, though, Chad wanted pictures to take -
Well, that was his job, for goodness sake!
But the rope I held for balance wasn't tight...
And once again David saved me from an awful fright!!

What I'm feeling with David, though, it's confusing...
One minute he's ruining my dress, next he's so amusing...
And gentle, loving and kind......And saving my life!!
It would be so much easier without all the strife!

Well....I can't think of that now....there's a wedding!
And a Ball! Oh my! Tears of happiness I'm shedding!
Such beautiful clothes..I just love it! Every girl's dream
And in a castle, too! It makes my eyes sparkle, my smile beam!!

It's on with the day!!
And Oh! How I pray
That now I'm all set...
My dress Won't get Wet!!!

Marigold has been married, now for an hour or two
Formal photos all done, that's what Chad had to do.
And a great dinner was had by us all
And we are getting changed for the evenings Ball !

All I can say to this just Wow ! the picture says it all
I got to take the belle to the ball!
Marigold and Lily are just like old friends
and both look like princesses and no drama portends..

Lily in her dress, that first dance was just right
I was in heaven, and could have danced with her all night
But Aunt Bethy, my dance teacher, needed my support
To get up to dance and to help her, I ought.

Chad was more than willing to dance with my Lily
I threw her my best smile, so she didn't feel silly
But Wow ! he could dance ! They made a great pair !
And many had stopped to just turn and stare...

Now One dance was fine; two - well O K
What? he's trying for three! I'm on my way...
They called "Ladies excuse me" and there at my feet
9 year old Rikki-Lee looking real sweet

I couldn't refuse my wee niece, she was ready to dance
And around the ballroom, we started to prance
Unbeknown to me, Lily had chosen another
It turned out to be my big older brother..

And that was the pattern, destiny kept us apart
It seemed our only dance would be the one at the start
Marigold and I paired for the penultimate dance
Lily and Jason also were paired quite by chance

So we handed the bridal couple back to each other
I turned to my Lily and we smiled at one another
And back in my arms for the curtain call waltz
Her radiant glow really messed with my pulse

Dear Diary,​

Sorry I've been neglecting you....
There's been so much to do!!
Marigold's wedding is finally done..
And the Ball was so much fun!!

Only one dance with David did make me so sad...
But most of the time I danced with Chad,
Who turned out to be such great fun!
What a great dancer - yes, he was the one

Who whirled me and twirled me till my head spun!!
We laughed and we giggled, and talked till we're blue...
I felt like Cinderella whose Ball night came true!
What a surprise he turned out to be; the night really flew!!

Then back with David I was for the very last dance...
But my head was still spinning....should I give Chad a chance??
He'd asked me to go out with him, but I had to say 'No'...
'Cause tomorrow off with David I will go.

Diary Dear, my head is confused! If David's for me,
Then why do I feel things for Chad? Is it temporary?
Will it go away? Is it just a good time at the Ball?
That must be it! Tomorrow, with David, will tell all.....

Oh, how I wish I was older and knew about such things!!
It seems that finding true love has too many wings!
A flight this way, and then that way too!!
What, oh what, is a girl's heart to do??

We are off to our batch with Lily by my side
Is it just me, or is she pre-occupied?
The trip to St Bathans is a reasonable ride
and when there is just us two, my smile gets so wide !

She is humming a tune - from the dance- was it with me?
No !! That was the one before I danced with Rikki-Lee
Oh no ! it was the Cha-cha, she aced it , with Chad !!
Careful, don't over react.... things could go bad !!

Searching for positives.... right... right now she's with me...
At up at St Bathan's we've plenty to do and see
We are dressed to do painting, and work can be fun
I am determined to do everything to be her Number One !

Lily wears borrowed old jeans from Rikki's mum, Jess
That will prevent her good clothes from getting in a mess
The old mudbrick house needs some overdue repair
I have promised my mum, we will paint while we're there.

We worked well together - she smelled really neat
side-by-side snacking on that ancient bench seat
Right now, I am letting pictures do the talking for me
The open range landscape is a joy to see !

Before and after painting of our 125yr adobe type dream
The walls returned to 'natural' is the current theme
With plenty of time left before we had to return
A walk down the gold claim, and with charm I must earn
her long term attention, and so far it's gone well
Could I say she is "mine"?? --- it's to early to tell !!

But hand-in-hand : relaxed stroll by the sluicing's grey lake
Her uncomplicated smile was a sight I will take
as a sign things are getting , right where I want to be
With her by my side - semi permanently

What ! A thunderstorm !! I never saw clouds rolling in !
Maybe I was distracted by her mesmerizing grin !
We ran up the hill, but it was waaay way too late
Both of us soaked through before getting through the gate...

I found towels and two old shirts for both of us to wear
And the rack for ours to dry, that is the idea
As we took off wet clothes In the lounge by the fire,
I wanted to watch her but ... would I be in the "mire?"
Can I just take a peek, over my shoulder ?
What ? She is sure looking ! I should have been Bolder !

As Lily set aside her coffee, big eyes looking up at me
Her lips needed kissing, so invitingly
And there was warmth , not just from the fire
My love for Lily was filled with desire

Our kissing had taken on a whole new dimension
My body was filling with - what-is-that? -tension !
Lily said "Stop!" We were filled with alarm !
"oh we need to talk before coming to some Harm... "

"Oh Lily, is this what we both want and need?
Is fulfilling our desires, like some sort of greed?"
We talked about things that we had to agree
By unanimous vote.... we chose - Celibacy !​

Dear Diary,​

Our outing to St. Bathans was quite a sweet journey!

Painting and exploring and hiking, to boot! (teehee!)
Getting caught in the rain felt exciting and free!!
But what came next was a surprise to David and me!!

Coming home from our hike, we got soaked to the skin

Racing from a quick storm that made us laugh and grin!!
But then...oh, what to do? We had nothing else to wear
Till David found us shirts so we wouldn't be bare!!

It was so embarrassing, but there was nothing else to do!
Diary Dear, my cheeks are all pink to tell you
I....looked at his bare back as he pulled on his shirt!
Even worse, he caught me looking!! He'll think I'm a flirt!!

But his shoulders and arms looked so strong, muscles rippled....
To think they had held me...it made me feel faint, almost crippled!
He wrapped them around me so closely, as if I would flee...
No chance of that - my legs would not even move me!!!

His kiss turned to fire and burned mine into flame..

And suddenly we knew that this was no game!!
We had consequences to consider and choices to make...
But we both know what's right...and that it's wrong to take

What belongs to a marriage - for only then is it fine
To cherish one another, to make everything his and mine.
We sat before the fire to talk of this new pleasure,

And decided together that Celibacy would be...our finest treasure!!

For who knows what a future will bring?

Will it be together, joined with a ring?
Or would some disaster befall
And break us apart for good and all?

So we decided to wait, to take the time to savour
Each other as people...to let time develop our flavour
Like a fine wine that needs time to be the best it can be.
Celibate, pure in our hearts, that's David and me.

How long has it been ??
Three - no - four months ?

 

Hi, Wolfie!! Welcome back to your home away from home!!! We have missed you....and Killer has to.....he's been sulking under those wonderful bone trees with which you gifted him!! Will you be with us for a while now? Certainly hope so, friend!

 

On the way back from St Bathans, as the shadows lengthened and he valleys were darkening by the minute, we were winding our way through the hills of the Pig Route, when sharp eyed Lily spotted a lamb wrestling not too far from the road. It had been caught up in a loose fence wire and was unable to free itself. Not far away, the lamb's mother was distressed at not being able to help her young one.
Scarcely had the wheels of our car stopped, when Lily was out through her car door and off to help the poor wee lamb. For such a tiny animal, it sure had a good set of lungs !!! She hopped over the creek and got to the fence, as I manoeuvred our car to a safe spot. Lily had already freed the lamb and was checking to see if the poor wee mite had suffered any leg damage, and as she was placing it on its feet a gruff voice boomed from the shadows.... "Whaddaya think you're Doing ??!!!" A shotgun wielding farmer appeared from the gloom !! Lily stood tall and replied that she was freeing ....... " A likely story !!" more booming...."More like Stealing that lamb !!!' he accused rudely..
Lily was about to protest, but the tiniest of backward steps and she slipped and fell into the creek..... Kersplash !!! and I rushed to her aid, relieved that it was not me who might be held responsible for this latest wetting.......

 

Hey Lily, David Thanks, it's good to get back to the farm.. I enjoyed reading through this thread, I found myself chuckling more then once at the scenario's you both have imagined, so talented the both of you

Looking forward to babysitting Killer, wow did I just say that ?! so you two can run off on another exciting excursion

Wow! I think Killer heard you say that about babysitting him....he's all perked up, and slobb......errrr...chewing on a great big bone from his bone trees!!

The farmer advanced menacingly toward us as Lily regained her feet. The situation was not helped by this farmer who seemed to have had a bad day. He raised his weapon !!! Suddenly there was a blinding flash of light !! - a beam hit the weapon from above and, too hot to handle, the farmer dropped the weapon into the creek! He stood there stunned, and , as talking to him had proved futile, we hurriedly took our cue to leave, having been saved from I-don't- know-what by this miraculous turn of events. "What happened?" queried Lily as I gunned the engine to leave.
"I have no idea.." I replied as we sped away, thankful that we were both safe...

We arrived back at Stephanie's home where we had stayed since before the wedding. Aunty Bethy was especially pleased to see that we had returned on the same day? - her thoughts were lost on me.... but it was too late for a discussion and we retired . "Nighty-nite!" I called to Lily as her door was closing... She replied similarly and our day was done.
The next day dawned and after a quick breakfast, Lily and I took a walk into the inner city which was warming to a new week. At a coffee shop, a nearby young customer was pointing at Lily excitedly... " It is Her !" she was sure, but we exchanged glances, not aware of her meaning. As we left, it seemed that more people were noticing Lily.
Rounding a corner, we saw Chad on the front steps of a gallery, and he beamed as he saw us.... maybe not so much 'us' as it turned out. The gallery was busy and more people noticed Lily, to her growing consternation...
Chad invited 'us' in and it all became clear. Chad had Already set up a photographic display - Lily was Everywhere !
- even photos of her at the wedding ! - in the hot air balloon - I grudging had to admit it - this guy was a good - no, a Very Good photographer !
Lily was initially embarrassed at All the attention, but gradually she realized how well Chad had captured each and every moment... chasing the sheep, the ballgown, the bridesmaids all in a row..... and she posed for a picture with some excited girls with their Mum........

 

(P.S.....Lily was Very embarrassed!! But this is David's story - so far......)

 

I was hoping for peace with my girl Lily
But this photographer Chad, is worrying me silly...
His photographic display has impressed my girl
"Is she still mine?" my head hurts - in a swirl...

This photographer 'Chad' is quite a clever fellow...
and I don't know any words bigger than 'wheelbarrow'
He is pouring on his charm - by the bucket load...
And he's like that handsome prince that was once a toad !

First , it was Brad, and now it is Chad...
Are there any more guys, that will keep me mad ?
I cannot let Lily see how he gets under my skin
She must not think that my skin is that thin !

What to do? - Hmmm - thoughts churn in my brain
Now, how did I 'beat' Brad ? and can I do it again??
There will be a Way... I must think of it first...
This 'bubble' of Chad's is about to get burst.....

Dear Diary,​

Wow!! This has been some weird kind of week!!
Ever had people point and stare at you, and try to take a peek??
Well, it happened the other day when David and I went to the City!
Chad had a Gallery full of his photos - and he had made them look real pretty....

But they were of me...and they gave me such a start!!
To be plastered on walls all over the place...and then calling it Art!!!
It was so embarrassing, I didn't know where to hide,
Especially when girls came with their Mums and pointed with pride

At seeing the real person they'd just seen in print!!
And then we saw Chad....and his eyes had a glint
Of confidence and satisfaction - he knew he'd done well....
And I have to admit his talent cast quite a spell!

Suddenly he was showing me all he had done, how the light
Changed what we saw, made Imagination take flight,
And so it was no longer me, but showed Chad's ability to make
A moment come alive!"The sum being greater than it's parts"; talent you can't fake!!

My respect for Chad was growing, in a way I did not recognize...
He certainly could handle himself - and his dancing took top prize!!
And when he drove his Corvette with confidence and abandon,
Life suddenly expanded into possibilities..no fear...just one and one!!!

But Oh! I haven't told you the most scary thing!! Now, don't utter a peep....
A farmer pointed a gun at me - he thought I was stealing his sheep!!!
But that wasn't even the worst! A flash of blinding light, and his hands, so hot they did get,​
