    I'm not aware of any rule which requires the mods to need to open an "official" thread.

    At the end of the announcement, it says "The Trading threads will be opened as soon as the event is live tomorrow."

    Here is an example of what happens when someone who is not a mod tries to start an unofficial Gift & Trade thread.

    Well, I guess we gotta let em feel like they do something useful for the community. Just another example of how they try to manipulate and control us. I'd better go clear my cache's just in case.

    As has been pointed out and announced in the Gift & Trade Announcement, a thread will be started by the Moderator Team at the start of event.
    Sorry, but this has always been the rule for Each Gift & Trade thread for the past 7 years of Farmerama.
